The problem seems to be where best to play him. The false 9 idea hasn't worked. He seems to play much better as a forward. I worry his development will be ruined now Tuchel has left
Watching Goal Rush which is fun.... Yanited get a fortunate PK call and Bruno buries it with one of those silly hop kicks. Table's gonna tighten up today. Meanwhile Pool with an early OG.
Casemiro's really floundering without that Real refereeing these days. Straight red for grabbing Will Hughes's throat, will be out for another 3 games.
Yup he's showing poor discipline and that could be a bit helpful to us. And you never know Palace could come back to equalize. They've already pulled one back. Meanwhile Pool are going down... it's 3-0 at Molineux right now. Puts our loss in a slightly more favorable light I suppose. BUT Brentford are now up 3-0 also and will come to N5 with confidence it seems.
And Mitoma delivers 3 points to Brighton at the death. Practically outta nowhere that boy is absolutely on fire for the last month or two.
Klopp is not who they think he is, and now they are finding out. Good for them, long may their misery continue.
Mighty Joe Willock after 35secs!... and another jumpshot celebration. VAR may overrule for ball OB. Sad. Edit: Nevermind Wilson scores 1 min later. Unbelievable onslaught to open a game. WHU are shell shocked. Wow
Casemiro with a straight red today. Apparently he put his hands on the throat of another player during a bit of a tussle. I didn't see it, but he'll miss 3 league games this month for his actions. With the two Europa league playoff games against Barcelona, the league cup final, FA Cup, and the make up game vs. Brentford, their fixture list looks very congested.
Well at least one other result went sort of our way: Newcastle draw West Ham 1-1 A similar result at the Toilet Bowl tomorrow would be very very welcome.
Navas was a busier boy than ideal, in his first 45’ in the Prem, but he acquitted himself like the champion he is. MOTM so far. At the other end Meslier, who can also make amazing saves, showed the liability in his game, where he went on completely unnecessary walkabouts and nearly gifted them a second goal.
Meslier has an entirely undeserved reputation as a good goalkeeper. He's been one of, if not the worst, keepers in the league for 3 years running. He's young, sure, but he's not actually getting any better. All of the drawbacks of a young goalkeeper and none of the benefits.
Forest frustrate Leeds for a 1-0 victory. I only had it on in the background but the 2nd half sounded like they just sat back, protected their lead, and Leeds couldn't really generate anything much to break them down. With so many Yanks at Leeds now (Marsch, Armas, Adams, Aaronson, McKennie) I really hope they can escape the suction of the drop zone, and that the owners (and fans!) will give Jesse the chance to see through his project. Nervy stuff though.
Yeah, I'm not really convinced Marsch is that good. They have some decent talent but don't seem to generate a ton of chances.
Umm. Maybe you mean Struber-managed playoff games? He’s been truly terrible at those. Marsch took us pretty deep a few times.
I’m with you on that uncertainty. But couldn’t that particular criticism also be used against “successful” coaches like Potter snd Howe?
No, I mean Marsch. He won one two-legged knockout tie (DC, 2015) and one single-leg match (Chicago, 2017) in the playoffs as Red Bulls manager. The common theme of those wins is that they never trailed. If they did (every other series), the Red Bulls lost. Never made it past the conference final.
Have we seen a Spurs team play like this all year? Maybe they should keep Conte in the hospital another week?
They’re gonna Spurs it, don’t get your hopes up. It’s the 89th minute and I’m still waiting for them to Spurs it
