At this point in my life, I shy away from calling others by bad names, but I am at a loss of any complimentary words after skimming the last thirty or so posts in this thread.

Are the eyes wide shut because they got hit by a bb from a red ryder bb gun with a compass in the stock?

Mourinho paying homage to my favorite MLS club today by crashing out of the Coppa Italia Quarterfinals in an eminently winnable match by playing all his backups against US Cremonese, which is actually an Italian club who has not won a league match this season and not some MAGA branded sex cream.

Incredible stuff. Love my club. Love my manager. Non si discute, si ama.

Thanks for passing that on, James. It’s really unusual for a new signing to express excitement about joining a new team in an official interview. He’s breaking new ground here, but to be fair stopped short of Hector Bellerin’s introduction at Sporting this past week. Bellerin claimed Sporting were the biggest club in Portugal (!!!!) despite having 18 less league titles than Benfica, over twenty less major trophies than Benfica, and 15 less league titles than Porto. I did love his enthusiasm though. Enzo is young, he’ll get there eventually.

But, I’m actually here to share some heartbreaking news. As I was scraping the ice off my back car window this am the right wing of the Benfica eagle scraped off my Benfica crest window decal. Some might point to that as a bad omen after the Enzo transfer. I’ll just have to comfort myself with the fact that they won their match the day the Enzo transfer was completed, and coupled with Braga’s defeat to Sporting they have actually extended their lead at the top of the table. Sure, a 5-8 point lead at the top of the Liga table might not carry the drama of a tenth place EPL club frantically chasing a Europa League spot, but I’m more than happy with where we are.

When Benfica wins the League and Taça this year there will be many highlights of Enzo celebrating in the year end package. We’ll gladly take the record transfer fee and the trophies. The highlights, the transfer fee, the trophies, they all age well.

Enzo is part of Benfica’s history forever. As stated many times (which you conveniently glossed over) the release fee is part of doing business. A very rich mid-table English club is desperate for European football and paid the release fee after months of trying not to pay the full fee. It’s the cost of doing business. There are no illusions here. Benfica, being a squad that actually has to manage the transfer market instead of just throwing money at it, and most Benfica fans are under no illusions here.

They don’t give trophies for being atop the Transfer Window Power Rankings?

I'd love to see the Crew participate in this. Old players mixed in with some Crew 2/acadamy players.

Chelsea needed to remake almost the entire team.

I bet they are adding to their extensive trophy case in the next year.

No but I think there is one for most Press Conferences Won.

At least that's how I understand it as a Browns fan.

Says the guy who bristled when it was suggested that the club's project was incoherent, or the club was badly run. This is rich. Not Boehly rich, but rich nonetheless.

I hope for Enzo's sake they win something relatively soon. With the amount of money they've spent expectations will be through the roof, and let's face it, if he lives up to near the potential people see in him, Chelsea is not his last stop. He's there 3-5 years max.

The problem for Enzo, and the expectation of near immediate trophies, is Potter is BY FAR the worst manager Enzo has played for in several years now. Gallardo, Scaloni, and Schmidt are all infinitely better managers than Potter.

The good news for Chelsea fans, other than the fact that they are free from any FFP oversight and have bottomless pockets, is that the recent success of the club has been primarily due to "continental" players and, yes, "continental" managers. Expectations will be infinitely high under this spending spree and Potter will likely (and probably deservedly) pay the price. They'll go out and buy another manager and hope to close the widening gap to Arsenal, and even Newcastle, and compete for trophies again.

Widening gap with Arsenal made me laugh. They are enjoying a resurgence this year, sure, but the future is probably going to be competing with Manchester City, Liverpool and maybe Newcastle, considering their new owners.

Even if Arsenal wins the PL this year, which it looks like they will, ask Leicester how hard that is to sustain.

I have gotten used to the turnover and turmoil at Stamford Bridge. As long as they are sprinkling in Champions League titles and other domestic Cup wins I’m not overly concerned with winning the league. The PL is, by a wide margin, the toughest league in the world to win.

Just saw Fernandez is starting today, with Mudryk, and James is back. Should make for an entertaining match.

I’ll miss at least the first half due to a meeting with donors trying to fundraise for a site specific commission to improve the arts and quality of life for my community.

My god, just heard Chelsea have spent 150% of their revenue on transfers the last 12 months.

    Thats sustainable good business.

Entertaining isn't the word I would use. Chelsea looked disjointed and Fulham gave them too much respect.
