Arteta wants all his defenders to be good enough on the ball that they could play DM, but that doesn't mean he's going to play them at DM. Lisandro Martinez played some DM at Ajax, Zinchenko obviously played a lot in midfield. White had a few games, Tomiyasu played DM in Japan according to transfermarkt. Kiwior, obviously. I'd like to see what he could do in the Zinchenko role.
Garrett Barry started from playing lb, subsequently moved inside to play cb and eventually ended up at cm/cdm. He was pretty good in every position he got to play imo.
TalkSport just had some guy on saying that he was eligible for selection .. Can’t be that simple though, surely
Here's the BBC's blurb on Mason Greenwood charges being dropped: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-64502021 The selfish Goonah in me couldn't help but wonder/hope that something similar might happen with Partey. Then there's the Mendy case which ended up going to trial, after which he was found not guilty IIRC. But the other side of me wonders whether there wasn't still abuse (if not clear crime) committed against women in these cases? And that the burden of proof is just a bit too high for them to gain justice? And sadly, even if Partey's fate ends up similar to Greenwood's, this doubt about him will always be in the back of my mind.
The attached link, included the following analysis of Kiwior’s defensive limitations: “Whilst Kiwior is a strong tackler, he can struggle to get close to an opponent at times if they are too quick and agile for him. The player doesn’t have a low centre of gravity when defending, which causes his agility and balance to be quite weak. As a result, he will struggle to delay his opponents when in 1v1 isolated scenarios in wide areas. It is too easy for attackers to unbalance Kiwior, which is a nightmare in wide areas where the player has a lot of ground to cover. In tight areas, Kiwior is excellent at winning duels, however, in open spaces, he can’t even engage in those duels as opponents can stay at a distance and put the defender on the back foot.” As a result when I first read the linked scouting report I was worried Arsenal had bought a left footed Rob Holding. However, O London says: Reports have now emerged that the defender has broken several records at London Colney including the fastest short sprint, highest agility jump and standing spring record. If true, the jump data in particular suggests he has the athletic ability to turn quickly and it’s simply a matter of the proper technique. Alternatively the writer of the scouting report either watched a bad game, or doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
My experience in criminal justice and family law says that there is a massively broad definition of "rapist" and an even more opaque definition of "falsely accused" both of which go undefined in society because the conversation rightly terrifying. It's a bit like the conversation on if you'd have been a N@zi. I'm sure if any of us (man and woman) had suitably deep conversations with any of our past partners we've all engaged in some dodgy behaviour that might satisfy the definition that large portions of the population might use. My general attitude is skepticism when a conversation of consequences and an open ear when dealing with victims. If a club thinks Mason is redeemable sans a conviction I believe it should be left up to those decision-makers, and Mason to show his worth. Now at street level what I heard about him wasn't great even before all this, but he's a kid I wouldn't want what people knew of me at 18/19/20 to determine what people thought of me at 30 or whatnot.
Now that the criminal aspect is over, they will do their internal HR process I would have thought, based on the civil standard of proof (that applies to contracts and employment law) that they should terminate him for misconduct.
Do you think that "HR process" will be guided more by ethical protocols or more by the players worth footballistically? And when you say "they should terminate him for misconduct" do you think that's also a fate that Arsenal might dish out to Partey, if his case is also dropped? (I'm in no way expert enough on these 2 cases to know how comparable they are)
This is a question me and some friends had If you had to pick 11 of one player to fill out a team, who is that? I think the obvious answer is Ruud Gullit
To put it bluntly - there will be some different interests at play Man U will obviously be concerned about their brand, reputational blowback, and commercial damage - not just the players asset value Likely sponsors will not want him to play - i know if i was a sponsor, i would not want my brand associated with this player
The rape is on tape released publically Don't you think 'redeeming' the rapist should be a lower priority than the brand damage of keeping him?
i haven’t followed this at all, but if the rape is on tape, then the witness that withdrew has to be the young woman herself, whether because of financial compensation as occurred in the Kobe Bryant case or because she didn’t want to go through the trauma of reliving the rape in court. Again if the rape is on tape, there is only one correct outcome of United’s in-house investigation, his contract should be terminated.
It is, and Greenwood violated the conditions of his bail by maintaining contact with the victim, who he continues to be in a relationship with.
It won't be that simple, but he is eligible. https://www.premierleague.com/news/2786707 He's included in the United squad list.
