Right, you do not have to subscribe to Apple TV+ in order to get MLS Season Pass. However, if you already subscribe to Apple TV+, you can get a discount on MLS Season Pass ($79/year). If you have Apple TV+ only (not MLS Season Pass), you will be able to get some games (more than the ones that will be free on Apple TV not-plus). But I am not aware of any Apple TV+ shows that will crossover to MLS Season Pass.
I used the PS5 6 month trial to get APTV+ ... and ALL of the content was available to me. I won't get Season Pass this year on basic principle (I NEVER do the first year of something like this, ever). Outside of the whiparound show I'm not seeing anything I'm going to miss out on by not having SP. With the amount of games available outside of the paywall ... this is an insane value. I'm guessing we're going to see a surprising number of folks opting for APTV+ and being happy with the MLS content/games that provides by itself. In turn, over time, that'll sell the SP (10 yr deal wasn't an arbitrary thing).
You: Stubborn person wrong about something a year ago they were gleefully cheering to happen gets called out for it cause people kept receipts. Now you cling to any thing so you can try to come out of that situation looking smart intelligent let it go my man's you can win em all. The deal was $250m yr with escalators in it. I don't care if out of that $250m if they gotta running granny to the eye doctor buy a new car etc. The deal was $250m not lucky to get $150m like you were gleefully wanting to happen. Do I have that right? Don't bother answering I do. Drop it.
Regarding season ticket holders, has anyone gotten their free subscription yet? If so, how was that process...just an email from the club with a voucher/promo code?
I'd be happy if you all would drop your back and forth in here. Its been pretty consistently shown that the group of you are on two different ends and reality is somewhere in the middle. aka, you're all wrong at some level.
A number of people have. I haven't (because of the Season Pass Centennial 38 is adjusting how it handles season ticket sales and that's causing a delay on the emails being sent out). Apparently its not a code. Its a link and when you click the link it registers you for the package.
Would gladly but he won't let it go keeps trying to relitigate. No one was talking about it til he brings up a article referring to old quoted info as if it was new just so he can feel like he was right. I kept receipts of his gloating about the lower worst case deal amount happening. I said my peace a while ago but he's obviously still seeking redemption. I'm done with it from here out with him on this. What happened...happened.
Hmm... a link without actual verification process of season ticket? Same link could be shared to people who are not wanting to pay $99? Couldn't be that simplistic could it? Asking for a friend.
Link only works once. It sounds like you can send it to whomever and it will work (not tied to your specific email address) but once its used, its used.
Every MLS team will undoubtedly have a version of this. Decades of never-before-seen footage.Stories you can only find in one place.Exclusively on #MLSSeasonPass: https://t.co/3Mio6NXZqC pic.twitter.com/Z6WoBLfgUx— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) February 2, 2023
Took a quick look at the others, well done also. I have the day off tomorrow, so going to click into everything that is currently showing up on the menu. The "Rituals" page sounds interesting about club culture. Menu is laid out well and the sorting page is nice.
It'll be six games per week for free this year. I was told each team will average around 14 games free in front of the paywall over the season.*This year,* to be clear. Now the question is: How does Apple put those games in front of people who don't actively seek them out? https://t.co/N5G2lyiXa4— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) February 1, 2023
I spent ten minutes watching/browsing Apple+ today, looking at the MLS content. I barely scratched the surface, and clearly, that's the biggest batch of quality MLS content I've ever seen in one place at one time. So regardless of how the business side of it shakes out, it looks like we're not going to run out of MLS-centric stuff anytime soon.
Found a flaw in the Apple Family sharing - If the person you are adding to share the subscription with is already part of a different Family Sharing set up, it will ask them to leave their current family to join yours. So if you share a ticket account with a non-household member and you both already have existing Family Sharing set ups, it won't work unless the person leaves to join.
So I'm all logged in and ready to go for the next 12 months (I see my season tickets got me a subscription that expires Feb 1 2024), but do we know if season ticket holders will also get a free subscription next year and the following years? Is it possibly only a one or two year freebie with all of us expected to pay for it once we've gotten used to it and appreciate its value? Just from looking it over the past day or two, it already seems "worth it". But given the choice, I would much rather get it for free next year too. (Imagine that.)
It's not free for STH's though.....you have to pay for your tickets after all. Season tickets also increase in price every season, some of that increase will likely go to Apple for your Season Pass Sub.
So I started getting into MLS when Toronto was playing a home game on I believe ESPN. The crowd was amazing and I was shocked to see that many people having such a good time at a soccer game. Although the internet was around it was far different than it is today. Like many of you I found Big Soccer and a community that was actually invested in soccer. Don't get me wrong, being from Philly like most I follow all major sports but back then you had soccer haters and well I'm sure many of you understand what I'm talking about. . A few years after I found a group called the Sons of Ben that were trying to influence MLS to name an expansion team for Philadelphia. Years later I had to give up my season tickets after five years because working on Saturday was making it impossible to get to the games on a consistent basis. Now it's a few games a year when I can swing it with juggling my shift. Needless to say I follow the team religiously and have always had whatever streaming service they were on just to watch the league. The problem for me was when they moved to ESPN+ and blacked out games.... even the replays. . Well that's all over now and for $99 a year I have virtual season tickets. As much as I loved going to the game, the cost of taking the train is more than the subscription for the year without 3 hours traveling both ways. . Unlike ESPN/FOX national games I'll never suffer jump to this station because the drag racing/football/softball/little league/basketball event is running longer than expected. Oh and when I get home I can still watch the replay. . MLS has its own home for the first time in my opinion and if you can't afford $99 dollars for the year, you'll still get the most national content that's ever been made available. It you're not happy, I don't think you ever could be satisfied anyway. As for myself, I'm quite excited to see how this grows much like the day they announced the Philadelphia Union would start playing in 2010.
Update your ISO or we won't let you watch the games. Scan the code with your apple product in order to move forward in the login process. log in with a new code even if your already logged in with a different code. Why the ******** did MLS make this so much of a chore just to watch a few games? ******** MLS AND ******** APPLETV!
While I love this product so far, my experience over the last 24 has certainly reiterated what I knew all along. Apple is the shadiest big-tech company. They do a great job of presenting themselves otherwise though. I wish YouTube got this deal.
Care to elaborate on your last 24hrs and what it says about Apple's shadiness. p.s. I'm not challenging you. I don't buy any of the whitewashing that streamers lay on us. I'm just curious how Apple fits into this pattern. Especially as I consider whether to sign up.
I am going to subscribe to their channel and not just the MLS package. So there's one. Sort of us here too. Only sort of because we cancelled our cable in order to get both Apple +/MLS and HBO Max (for the US National Teams) - not just MLS. We still come out quite a bit ahead on the deal, too.
