I dont view these types of MLS fans as USMNT fans. When a person defends decisions that make the team worse, they aren't really fans. Unfortunately, this site caters to those fans. As both of know, the moderators are MLS fans and moderate to make this site more heavily MLS fan based. Id bet if I went the ignore route, I wouldn't see many posts. The way these idiots have acted in this thread is why I come here much less. I dont think I have ever convinced any of these people anything.. of course,, i am not always right,, but very far from being always wrong.. The behavior of these people are weird and off putting. They have no ability to think for themselves and actually seem to take pleasure in annoying others. Id actually say some would rather run off fans that don't have their first priority as an MLS fan. The idea of Sabbi not playing well in the recent game is some big point is crazy. One difference is all USMNT fans are asking is that Euro based guys get a shot, while MLS fans demand their guy is a starter. This league comparisons they do is so stupid. Not sure why they can't accept that they can't determine between players in different leagues are going to be best at the international level, so it would make sense to get guys in camp from all over.
I think he got every MLS player wrong. Every single one of them had larger roles than they deserved. That means he only got Euro based players right and many of those were slow played for MLS players. Who were the euro based players he gave too many minutes? I am curious to see how many minutes those guys got. I suspect I will be able to find an MLS guy who was worse and got more minutes than them. Tylor Boyd was the one example from 2019.
I never said Gregg gave any Euro based player too many minutes. I do not know where you dredged up that idea. But, to be clear, I do not really care if he did or did not give any player too many minutes. He was a HORRIBLE coach and no matter who he played it was almost impossible for the team to play well. He was just well out of his depth and therefore the USA's Men's team played badly in most matches.
Most domestic camps in history??? WTF does this mean??? Where is Berhalter supposed to hold USMNT camps anyways??? Is he supposed to hold USMNT camps in Europe and then fly the team across the Atlantic for games???? Do you all forget that UEFA Nations League and UEFA WC/Euro Qualifying are the reasons why the USMNT doesn't have many or any friendlies in Europe? There simply are nopt any opponents available in any given Fifa window.
yeah totally....its gotten worse, right? didnt notice it as severe as it now.... they kicked me out of mls forums...and have now banned me from usmnt new analysis.... i wouldnt doubt that there is some behind the scenes financial connection between their actions here and MLS itself.... controlling the narrative is important enough to MLS to silence its own players..... its so weird how fascist the sport in the US can be ...and how much of the strategy of the usmnt itself fails to reflect the historical ideals of the USA.... they are really getting on me about sabbi bc i have been a huge advocate.....(which they hone in on and try to turn it into me guaranteeing him as a usmnt savior or something ridiculous)......
Easy buddy. I agree with you that Berhalter is a crap coach. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as long as possible that the issue was just the player selction, but saw enough that I doubt he would be able to do anything if he didnt screw up the player selection. I was just responding to this quote: "Gregg had mixed results with Euro based players and bad results with MLS players" I interpreted this to mean that he got it wrong on some euro players. Oh well if not a correct interpretation. Anyone want to share who the Euro based players that Berhalter got wrong and played too many minutes? I suggest that just about every MLS players got too many minutes (those that isn't true didnt get many minutes) and many euro based guys got too few.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you got banned from posting on a couple tiny, niche sub forums, on an antiquated corner of soccer discussion on the internet. This isn’t a fascist conspiracy where people are being paid to silence you lol. I can 1000000% promise you that major league soccer isn’t paying bigsoccer to selectively ban you….go ahead and say that one out loud to see if it sounds realistic lol
Literally every assertion in this post is wrong. Berhalter has been less MLS reliant than is the norm. The transfer window hasn't been very quiet. The notion of the World Cup as a shop window is 2 decades out of date. The idea that MLS' reputation has been damaged is pretty much 180 degrees wrong. adam tash's entire calendar is Opposite Day.
I think they’re paying to keep the Freddy Adu thread on the first page as well. The Reynas need to leak this conspiracy to the mainstream media.
...and I stopped reading So is literally every league in the world except the Prem. We drew England in the World Cup. Literally the one single nation that should benefit from your rigid ideology, we played them, and we drew them.
It's interesting that both the guys you listed have played more matches in Magic Europe than MLS. Which just goes to show how awful the original post was.
What do you mean by this? Are you talking about European clubs that went bankrupt the last however many years? Because if you are, well, those clubs were all waaaaay down the food chain, so who cares. Allow me to point out that Brexit changed the equation for American players, probably overall for the worse. The days of Yanks using Irish or German grandparents to sign with Prem clubs' academies like Spector are over.
This is probably the perfect example of backup quarterback syndrome. The other guys are unknown TO YOU. It's hilarious that you think just because YOU don't know how good some player is, that the USMNT coach doesn't have better resources to evaluate players.
I like your post, but I have no idea what this means. OK, good. Wait, I thought you didn't know what to tell him, and then you wrote 6 paragraphs!
What achievements did the USMNT miss out on because we had a horrible coach that we would have achieved with an average coach? Look, I was underwhelmed when Gregg was hired. I don't pretend to know the strengths and weaknesses of every alternative like some folks do, but I assumed we could have done better. But let's be real...he won the Nations League. He won the Gold Cup. He qualified for the World Cup. We came in 2nd in a mediocre group, then lost to the Dutch. For me, that's almost* precisely what I would have expected given our talent pool. I would have liked to achieve more, but are you saying we have better talent than Holland and an average coach would have unlocked that and beaten them? GTFO. *For me, I didn't mind losing to Holland. But I was pretty disappointed that we didn't put up a better fight. (Oddly similar to my feelings about the Belgium loss...yeah, they're better, but they're not THAT much better!) And I think that's on Gregg not managing minutes well, not properly analyzing the risk/reward of rotating especially in the midfield, and my biggest complaint, namely, that the 4-3-3 doesn't fit our talent. I've long thought we should be in a 4-2-3-1, and I believe that would have meant we lost to Holland by 1 instead of 2. Which, who cares, a loss is a loss is a loss.
The USMNT can't leave MLS behind by definition. MLS academy and first team players become the European-based players. Do people watch USMNTers in the Premier League and not remember that Tyler Adams was developed by NYRB, Brenden Aaronson was developed by Philadelphia, Chris Richards was developed by Dallas, Weston McKennie was developed by Dallas, etc. etc.? Are they that delusional? People go back in time and say "how dare Berhalter start the cycle with Will Trapp and Jackson Yueill" at the #6!!!! You mean, at the Nations League when Tyler Adams was hurt? Who were we calling up instead? Kellyn Acosta wasn't playing well. I don't get it. Its a bizarre type of revisionist history from people who really don't know the pool. They just like bitching.
