Different teams, different positions, different coaches, different situations.

Isolating a stat like this doesn’t give us much data, that’s all. You have an agenda and are isolating stats to criticize Shaqiri. I’m just saying these numbers you post don’t say what you think they say.

You might as well compare Luka to a goalie.

Stat doesn't give much data? Agenda? Isolating? Compare to a goalie?

Your retort to my "G-pk" post was "xG is a relative number. You don’t understand it"...which was isolating from a post prior with multiple stats and simply contentious...

Silly, right, but comparing Luka's stats to Shaq's...hmm...whoa...

    $370k, 1347min, 15 starts, 8G(in play), lead the team with 0.53G/90, 1.20 SOT/90 & 2.3G-xG, 5 positions.

    $8mil, 2252min, 27starts, 3G(in play), (8th place on team with) 0.28G/90, 0.48 SOT/90 & 0.4G-xG (including the pks), pretty much "the 10".

    Pass the dutchie

Well we definitely should not sign Luka Modric, most years that guy has 4 or 5 assists and 1 to 2 goals. Can't believe he wears a #10.

    Come on…

How many ‘in play’ goal contributions is reasonable to expect from our 8mil EPL Bundesliga World Cup experienced attacking midfield DP?

    G(-PK)+A(direct not MLS hockey assist)

    I’ll start, 20+

Not saying he is not a ‘quality player’, I’m saying he didn’t produce what is reasonable to expect from him…and the responses to any critique are to make excuses and shift to talking about his teammates and ‘PKs count the same’! Or to shift the conversation to me…

Are y’all pleased with Shaqiri’s performance?
    By what metric?

MODS: move all this to the Shaqiri thread if you think it worth it, or delete it, or whatever.

As memory serves, at that time MLS used a point system to determine the Golden Boot winner, so it was something like one point for a goal and half a point for an assist. Preki had so many GD assists that he won their system outright!

That’s a cool stat. Probably a dumb rule but he won by the rules.

Zero if we win MLS Cup. 15+ if we don't make the playoffs.

I think you are saying ‘don’t care if we win the cup…he could even be on the bench…just want trophies’.
But if we don’t make the playoffs, your over/under for his being worth 8mil is 15G+A. Ya?
    If so, helpful, thanks.

    G-PK+A:
    Djordje 13, Reynoso 16, Gil 16, Arango 16, Rubio 16, Higuain 16, Gazdag 22, Acosta 22, Druissi 23, Mukhtar 23

I’m can align down from 20 to 15+, but not lower than that. Shaqiri should be a top 5 producer, but I’d settle for top 10

I'm saying that if he plays and delivers Modric like stats, say 2 goals and 4 assists, and we win MLS Cup- the proof is in the accomplishment, not the stats.

In a pure abstract world, sure, but I believe you are describing the least likely scenario...our roster is not an MLScup winning roster. And, I would argue most folk would still not expect the same types of contribution from Modric (much more of a yoeman) than we are expecting from Shaqiri...apples to oranges.

So, presuming a cup win is a long shot, was your 15+ the metric you will have for Shaqiri this season? If not, barring a cup win, what will your metric for his DP CAM production?

You do realize that if Ezra continues to play six defenders and four attackers we should all expect fewer chances and less production, right?

Regardless of our differing interpretation of how Ezra's 4-2-3-1 will/is intended to attack, what does that change regarding expectations on Shaqiri's offensive contribution?

As listed in post above, I expect MLS top 10 G-PK+A contribution...which likely means 15+
Ya? Or will you have a different expectation of him?

My speculation on the topic is that Shaqiri will be on the roster. We should open a separate thread for stats diatribes.

Where did I have say I don't bitch and whine?!? Of course, I do.
I am what Nelson 'Shady' Rodrigues called a wallower.

Then stop implying they are just "padding one's stats." That is nonsense and has no bearing on the success of a team.

As for no one else on the team could tally the penalties, that is a ridiculous, irrelevant statement and has no bearing on this, or any, conversation.

You asked for it by saying:
I gave you the truthful answer.

Also, I do not care to "debate" you about this or anything.

Then stop chiming in contentiously on my posts and not expecting a response…this is a discussion forum and you are not omniscient.

Discussion NOT debate. There's a difference between the two.

I won't debate you. I have tried to engage in discussion but that was quickly proven futile.

I have been discussing the Fire on this forum for more than 20 years. I have had discussions, comments and, occasionally, disagreements with just about every regular poster here, many of whom are friends of mine in the "real world."

    The problem is not me.

And you wonder why people won't "debate" you.

You are a deeply disturbed human being.

    Please seek help.

Maybe you can deal with your anger issue a bit.

To use yours and bunge’s quip ‘you don’t get it’.

Not angry, not in the least.

Do you read your posts/words? The tit for tat? The dismissiveness?

Someone ‘checks you’ in response to your sophomoric belittling and you get all butt hurt?

    Settle down Karen.

Agreed. I assume this signing as a DP was not a real thing.
