40% has never been confirmed. We got that number from an Athletic article where they had a leaked planning powerpoint. We haven't received any official percentage on the record from Apple or MLS.
You're making too much sense some people just deal with things through a negative lens. Oh they're done they're over. MLS has screwed itself you know? They are dead to rights with TV its all over. Stick a fork in em. Same stuff said before the media deal. They'd be lucky to get $150m yr networks don't believe in MLS no one does its their own fault. Folks who dared think positively argued why the rights are worth more than the overwhelmingly negative perception(who's shocked when dealing with the US Soccer fan culture), So the deal comes out better than what the pessimistic crowd thought and do they go hmmm maybe some folk in media believe in them and things aren't as bad as we made them out to be? Nope simply moved the negativity to to the next thing. Them: Welp they're done with TV now no one is going to want anything to do with MLS on TV. The schtick is so predictable. You'd think just as you laid out a not far fetched scenario they'd think hmmm it could happen. Nope its all going to hell. Pack it up guys. FOX is bailing early on their deal. Its gonna be a disaster for them.
They do have a few ‘Moments of Zen’ on a number of channels where they can insert ads. They just haven’t sold all the ads, yet.

Looks good on first glance. Excited to receive my season ticket holder code so I can log in and try it.
You can log in with an Apple account right now and watch some of the videos and such. Lots of player and team profiles are already posted and don’t require a subscription.
So, now that the channel is up, back to making wishlists. I hope that in the future, apple picks up some friendlies and preseason games featuring MLS teams. Weird that I probably won't see a single galaxy preseason game on TV this season for the first time in years (unless they stream some on their site)
What iOS are you on? My phone is on 15.6 (current is 16.3) and after having the same issue I found an error screen saying I need to update my OS in order to see the content. I assume that means it only shows up right now if you're on iOS 16 (for iPhone/iPad). I don't know if this is just "wait until we officially launch it later today" and then it will be available for other OS's or if this will be an on-going restriction.
Burgundy Wave posted their Apple TV article this morning. I know they got the media PR info from Apple/MLS so I assume that's where this info is coming from. Some general info in it people might be interested in: https://www.burgundywave.com/2023/2...o-know-about-mls-season-pass-on-apple-tv-plus
I am on 16.1.2. Haven't seen any error messages. I checked if there was a new version of the app (didn't find one), but I'll try updating iOS next. Thanks.
The way I found the error message was to open the page in the Safari browser. Whe it opens there's a option top "Open in App" with an Open button at the top right. on the top left there's a hamburger menu. Select that and one of the options shows the App icon with 'Open TV'. When I select the app from there (not the blue Open button) I get the error message about my OS.
I've also heard from a friend who was on 16.2 and couldn't see the Season Pass until they updated to 16.3. So for now it appears its only available on the absolute most current version of iOS. This could be a first-day glitch or it could indicate that to support MLS Season Pass they had to make a change to the tvOS code that runs the app, and that's always tied into an OS update. Which means that it won't be supported on anything less than 16.3.
Happy to report that (at least on my tv and phone ) there is a “hide scores” option that is effective for removing the scores from all the prior year games. And removes the initial landing page when you click on those that also shows the final score. that is already more functional then their baseball coverage was last year.
However, I can't figure out how to do this on my web browser version of the Appletv site. If anyone happens to know how, please let me know.
Opening weekend is free! Great idea. Apple is literally doing everything possible right (except covering preseason games). Edit: I'm not seeing any free games. Did free turn out to mean on apple tv+ after all?
