    Well, you can‘t call Soto anywhere close to mediocre at this point, so I get his post.

    Talk about wasting opportunities... he's not the first, but may, perhaps, be the worst, as it really seems to come down to underperforming plus attitude/personality. Oh well, Austria is nice.

    Seb drops a Klagenfurt: Soto stinks it up at Norwich, flushed to the continent.

    Austria? At Klagenfurt? Jesus wept.

    Red Bull apart, the Austrian lBL is, mostly, dreck and Klagenfurt were promoted to it the season before last. They're a yo-yo side there.

    The only upside is that he might finally realize that he's on a downward spiral and needs to shape up.

    Might.

    According to TM, he made his debut for the reserve team in the 4th tier with a 90 minute performance in a 5-3 loss last weekend.

    Wow. We're talking about the Austrian 4th-tier here, yes? That has got to be some really terrible soccer. I saw clips of Terrence Boyd's goals (from yesterday maybe?), and the defensive f*ck ups were really hard to watch--and that was against some team in the German 2nd tier.

    He made his debut at the weekend??? He f#@king moved there two months ago!!

    Unless he's been injured, the only explanations are he's not good enough for Austria's region-of-a region D4 or he's a complete tosspot, on the training pitch, in the dressing room or both.

    He's done.

    My vote is for "complete tosspot, both on the pitch and in the dressing room".

    Back when he made his MNT debut and scored twice, some people on this thread noted a certain, shall we say, "restraint" in his teammates' congratulations.

    That was a tell IMO.

    With 7 goals in 12 games, nobody can deny that he did pretty well in Holland's D2, the kind of performance that gets noticed by scouts and analysts in a very well-scouted and analyzed league. And it's worth noting that his departure in January 2021 coincided with Telstar dropping out of the playoff places and finishing the season in 13th place.

    Yet when he was released by Norwich, an Austrian yo-yo side was the best he could do.

    When I said "he's done" I meant as a pro. I hope I'm wrong - who thought Haji would ever amount to anything, let alone that Pefok would be staring for the BL's table-toppers, but even Haji was picked up by a decent club in a decent league in a country with a serious football culture.

    Pretty much. He showed up tk an open tryout for Barnsley in preseason didn't disclose he couldn't do much due to an injury and the team basically told him don't come back

    According to this tweet from the club, he finally got his work permit:

    SK Austria Klagenfurt
    @austria_sk

    The long wait ends! The summer additions @Sebastian9Soto and Daniel #Francis have been in possession of the red-white-red card since early Thursday morning, equivalent to a work permit. The two go straight into team training!

    That's some world class bureaucracy if it took this long to get it approved.

    Covid made people sick, but bureaucracy sicker.

    Much of the worldwide inflation is due to bureaucracy gone awry.

    Scored a hat trick in an intra-squad match:

    SK Austria Klagenfurt
    @austria_sk

    Internal match on Sunday: Training with a competitive character!

    Team "Orange" won twice in 35 minutes after goals from Sebastian Soto (3), Markus Pink (2), Thorsten Mahrer and Andy Irving with 7:0 (0:0) against Team "Yellow".

    Coming into the year strong:

    https://www.skaustriaklagenfurt.at/news/soto-zeigt-mit-starker-fruehform-auf-2397

    Sebastian Soto used the winter preparations to put himself in the shop window. At the training camp in Slovenia, the attacker showed five goals in friendly matches against ND Beltinci (7:1) and NK Aluminij (4:0). The 22-year-old only needed two halves for this, meaning he scored every 18 minutes. Now Soto also wants to take off on the big stage with Austria Klagenfurt.

    That's a weird "Wow, look how well he's doing!" piece from Soto's club. I mean, those goals were against Slovenian 2nd Division clubs. I can't imagine that competition is even as good as USL League 1. But, hey, maybe he will take off with the "big" boys on the "big stage" for the second half of the season. I sure hope he gets his shit together.

    EDIT: My apologies if this post seems too negative. I have little patience for players graced with size, athleticism and natural talent who piss it away like Soto has so far.
