The whole Chelsea thing is staggering. Apparently Ziyech was supposed to go to PSG and Chelsea sent the wrong paperwork three times and so the deal fell through. Just insane.

 

At least they’re not sitting with thumbs up their asses claiming they still have the best squad in the world!
The expenditure is insane and makes a fun of the concept of FFP itself, but it shows the desires to get back to the top.
Accepting that your squad has certain deficiencies and trying to repair them is first step towards success.

 

You can also look at the expenditures and see that there isn't a good relationship between spending and success.

TBF Perez has gotten so thrifty that Disney wants him to play Uncle Scrooge in an upcoming movie but he's not wrong to be reluctant to throw money at problems it won't clearly solve.

Lol @ all the flop signings they made last summer to end up 10th in the table and replaced CL winning Tuchel with Potter whom Brighton are doing fine without. Wait for 6 more months to see how many of these winter signings are terrible investments.

This is how Utd plunged into mediocrity for 10 years post Fergie as well. But there was a lot of excitement just looking at their spending every summer on mediocre players only the reality got exposed during football season.

Perez should learn from the ambition Boehly showed last summer getting new Roberto Carlos Cucerella for just 70 M, Sterling for 50 M, Koulibaly and Fofana for combined 140 M. Those 2 have been terrible so in comes Badiashile for 40 M.

Meanwhile Boehly's net worth is like 1/3rd of Roman Abramovich and he's using borrowed money for this splurge. Very optimistic news for Chelsea that. [emoji23]

If I was a Chelsea fan I would be concerned at what this was doing to the stability of the club. and would be wondering why this was the tactic taken when right now you can look at other clubs doing well without this kind of behaviour
