People are forgetting because it’s almost February that we’re not even at the halfway point. There is a looooong way to go.

Frustrating to play so well and not get the points.

As far as Vini goes there’s really only one chance he “should’ve” scored IMO. The others were very good finishes that were saved or tough angles etc. He had a 9/10 game for me.

Thought Fede’s game was another encouraging sign. Strong games from Kroos and Ceballos too.

Camavinga was fine but he’s clearly not a fullback and you clearly waste some of his skillset in that spot.

Rodrygo just has to be more assertive. Good things just inevitably happen when he gets his foot on the ball in the final third.

    Benz is the real concern.

We are definitely second favorite for the league at this point and I’m quite worried about it (edit: especially in light of Benzema’s form) but the talk of it being over is pure madness IMO because there are a lot of games to play and this Barca team is nothing special at all.

La liga is decided, Barca won't drop more points than us. Time to focus on Copa and CL. However, i suspect this season will be another trophyless one and also Carlo's last. There are many similarities to 2014/15 season.

Waaaay too much respect in here for a team that’s proven absolutely nothing and is playing in the freakin Europa league

That team is currently playing in Europa league because of the mistakes they committed LAST SEASON. I know we all love to use that phrase for trolling them, but the season has changed, they’ve improved in several areas while we continue to act as if whatever thin squad we’ve got- it’s more than sufficient to compete in 3 competitions.

Didn’t they fall to Europa for the mistakes they made this season in the CL group stage?

Barcelona is just better than us in La Liga. The teams respect them more, are afraid of them, and get dominated by them.

Take la Real as an example. Barcelona had a rough patch against them. But that was it. They now consistently beat la Real, same for Atleti, Bilbao, Villareal, Sevilla... Barcelona just beats them for fun most of the time. We can barely get a single point against them.

    We need new players.

Thank you. I feel like people are just regurgitating the same takes from previous shit performances rather than actually taking into account how we played in this game.

For example, this was Fede's best performance since the World Cup, by far. Ceballos counter pressed them to oblivion to the point that the 3rd best team in Spain had maybe 2 dangerous counters in the whole game. People are here talking about us being predictable as if we didn't have totally new dimensions in this game like Camavinga providing overlaps, Rodrygo back heeling time and time again to create shot opportunities.

Another interesting stat from this game: Alex Remiro had the most saves in a single game in his ENTIRE career in this game.

I am more encouraged now after dropping two points than I have been for some time. It's largely thanks to the young players. Ceballos, Camavinga, Rodrygo, Vinicius. Now we're going to get Alaba and Tchouameni back which should provide a serious rejuvenation to the squad.

As long as Carlo continues to reward these players with starts and minutes, I am very optimistic for the next couple months. And I think he realizes he has to. He said as much in the post game press conference. He didn't really want to sub in Modric for tactical reasons, but because of the concern about tired legs. It's because we were playing so well that no one deserved to come off.

I think he is recognizing the changing of the guard is happening.

    Yup
My bad, but the point is they’ve consistently put in good performances afterwards in the league. Depending on Benzema alone for 3 competitions is hazardous.

Real sociedad missed 9 players due to injuries. They lost Elustondo in this match too.
Getting one point is more like a win for them than us.

Nobody is denying that it's a good result for them. And we were missing 5 players including 4 starters.

But whereas in previous games our problems included things like: an inability to create quality chances, an inability to win the ball high up the field, an inability to find spaces against a low block, an inability to defend comfortably against counter attacks....

None of those issues were there today. Our only problem was finishing. And yeah that's a problem we've had and is a problem for most football teams. But we can have optimism that if we can fix all those other issues consistently, goals will come.

Xavi ball will start to crack once the weather warms up and the grass starts growing… groundskeepers can’t keep up with his length, water, fertilizer etc demands for perfect conditions.

    Far from being over.

Not impossible. But unlikely. We looked like mental midgets against them in the Supercopa. Unless things change drastically starting the next match, I say we're out.

We were decent back then. Team looks awful now. Unless things change drastically starting the next match, I say we're out.

Bro it’s all gloom and doom around

I get we are Real Madrid and we are used to success. But jeez, first sign of trouble and people are bailing on the players and the coach. It’s a long season, trust these champions

and it’s ok if for some reason we finish second and maybe a good run in the CL. I trust Flo and the team to consistently win more than any other club on the world, and that’s enough for me.

Fanatics are strange. You can't say bad things about what they like.

3 points behind Barcelona - WE IS MADRID, EVERYTHING FINE!!!!11

Losing the Supercopa while showing ZERO desire to win - WHY SO DOOM AND GLOOM AND CUM THEY WILL DROP POINTS IN LALIGA EVEN THOUGH OPPONENTS HAVE ONLY SCORED 6 GOALS PAST THEM, BEZNEMA LINDO BLACKMAIL ME TOO!!!!!

5 points behind Barcelona - ITS FINE WE WILL BEAT THEM LIKE WE DID WHEN OUR FORM WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT IS NOW!!!!1

I know we can recover. I know things can change. I know "we are Madrid."

But I know the team well; it's been almost two decades now watching every season.

And transitional seasons are OK. This is one of them. But that won't stop me from criticizing them. Real Madrid has shown a "blasé" approach to La Liga for a long time now, not to mention the Cup.

That's what irritates me. I want national dominance, and we could pull that off, if we faced the league with a little extra desire to win.

But hey, call it doom and gloom if that makes you happy.

I recall us being fairly inconsistent back then as well, exchanging decent games with horrendous ones across the board.

I don't think the league is Barca's to lose tbh, I think it's ours to give. Barca is a fairly mediocre team (by their standards) that has been grinding out results almost week in week out. That's not necessarily the luck of a champion in my view; the luck of a champion is when this grinding of results happens every now and then, not almost all the time.

In any case: while I don't rate this Real Madrid squad as highly as some here (we have a super talented squad, but have some glaring issues in terms of squad management, fullbacks, midfield rotations, lack of depth in attack etc.), I truly believe we are most definitely better than this Barca. Just need to continue build on the Atleti and La Real games and give the youngsters a starting spot. It has made incredible difference!
