My impression of this highlight reel is that he ballhandles and attacks toward the goal REALLY well...and sometimes even scores. (Most clips end before he shoots, though he looks cool moving the ball around and through defenders.) If Kacper is healthy again and can do his finishing off attacks thing again, these two could be quite a dangerous combo. Oh wait, we only play one striker at a time.
Interesting point…we don’t have any ‘news’ regarding tactics…so it’s safe to presume we will be a 4-2-3-1…BUT! Would a signing like this point to a possible formation change? hmm, will have to talk a look through his typical role when he was productive~
Ya know, he’s got some Katai like aggressive attacking tendencies…if he’s TAM sign him! If he would have to be a DP, I’d hold out for ‘bigger’…even if it takes to July.
Definitely not my first ( or even fourth) choice BUT at a low enough price he might be able to scrape together a placeholder year. Unfortunately, harder to get a bargain on an EPL player. Quick go buy a lucky rabbit’s foot!
It occurred to me we may be the ones fooling ourselves… Supporters are expect a big chunk of the warchest acquired to be spent on the 2023 roster! Go sign a higher quality name than Shaqiri! But the FO may be planning to use it ‘on the club’ operations…and ‘just’ using the 2milGAM for the DP
If it gets us a likely, not possibly, 15 goal scorer, O.K. Someone who will excite the fan base and sell some tickets will likely cost more.
Does anyone "expect" this? We HOPE much of the profit from the SLONINA and Duran sales are used to sign a high profile Designated Player, but I seriously doubt many of us Expect it to happen, at least not in this transfer window. Anyone who expects it is setting themselves up for a major disappointment. Of course, as Fire fans, "Major Disappointment" is our official military rank/name.
We have had a total of 3 players score 15 goals in a season in our history. Razov (four times) Magee Nikolic (twice) We have had as many seasons without any player score in double digits than we have had seasons where a player scored 15.
And that was what Ezra said he needs from Heitz...who now has all the funds and cap room he needs to go sign a Vela quality player. So yea, there is expectation.
Of course, it does. I certainly don't disagree that the urgency is there. I have not met any Fire fans who expect that magical 15 goal scorer to be signed before the start of the season. Certainly none here. Maybe on Reddit or twitter, but on Big Soccer, we are realists*! (*Except for the annual Optimism Thread and the occasional Delusion Thread)
Transfermarkt lists 15 (yes,15) teams rumored to be interested in acquiring Hwang Ui-Jo in June 2022 and 6 teams in Jan. 2023. They rarely list transfer rumors and I have never seen numbers like this. What, if anything, does this mean to you?
His name has certainly been being volleyed around...prior to the current news linking us there was a decent amount of chatter for ATL https://www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/20...nterested-in-south-korean-striker-hwang-ui-jo
Need to go back to the transcript, but my recollection is he used the term "we" and "looking to acquire a 15g striker"....so by no means "an approval", but it fits with the ask on this board 'wish Ezra would tell us (more about) what he's looking to do'.
And he's been sold out of the league... https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/new-...patryk-klimala-to-israeli-premier-league-side
A tree fell in the woods...Chef Luka is out of contract and looking for his next gig. Considering he was "only" making $373k when here, he would be a very affordable addition. I can see an argument for "that ship has long sailed, besides we are shopping for a 9 and a LB". But I can also see an argument for him as a solid depth piece that can play 8, 10, false 9...and a player that clearly has a 'nose for goal'. Thoughts?
Please refresh my failing memory. What kind of locker room presence did he have? He might be worth exploring if a free transfer and < $300K in salary. What kind of recent form? Is he interested in returning as a non-starter? Substituting him for Gaston mid-match when more offense is needed might be interesting.
"Chef Luka"? The guy from "Below Deck Mediterranean" reality show on Bravo? He seems to have a large presence on Instagram, but I don't see how he will help the Fire this season? I do see how that ship has sailed. (Yes, I just did an Internet search for "Chef Luka" and this was the first thing that popped up) If Luka Stojanovich is available, I would say, 'Yes, please."
