Nketiah is very likely to receive a call up next, I would also be considering Balogun too but he’ll probably miss out. I can see Balogun switching allegiance soon! So Southgate should at the very least contact him and tell him he’s in his plans. Personally try get both of them in next squad.

Yeah Balogun is quite a precarious dual due to a combination of a difficult pathway with England and an easy one with the US given their paucity of strikers. Also, they are becoming more attractive these days as they have an exciting few years coming up being the hosts of both the Copa America and the World Cup.

Everton in for Conor Gallagher. It wouldn't be the best move for his England career. Easy to see Gordon overtaking him as the England squad's resident passion merchant.

I think Balogun would at this point justify a call up, even regardless of his status.

His competition isn't strong this season. He plays in a weaker league for sure, but he also plays in a terrible attacking team who've only scored 22 all season, so his 11 goals is very impressive.

Maybe Newcastle would be a better place for him.

Greenwood has case discontinued by CPS, and charges dropped. Very interesting as to what next in his career.

Puts the cat among the pigeons somewhat. The CPS obviously thought they had little chance of getting a conviction, the reasons for that could be numerous. This case is different to others as the recordings are out there in the public so everyone knows that he's done some really terrible things either way. It puts United and the England in a spot going forward.

Russia, Turkey or another Middle Eastern country. Highly doubt he plays in England again, but money always wins.

He's back with the girl who the case involves, apparently has been for a while. Her dad claimed her accounts were hacked, and never wanted the pictures and audio released, so likely withdrew her statements. United will either find a way to release him or pay off his contract, doubt he'll ever be in England conversations again, but you never really know in football.

he'll play for Untied again this season ten Haag will have no issues there and club will say he has not been convicted of a crime, I'm sure some form of counselling will be mandated by them to him too. Southgate had already dropped him so its easy to not pick him

I would be amazed if he played for United again this season, or ever, to he honest.

Russia, in the current climate? His advisers should be shot on the spot if they were to advise him to go there. Who in there right mind would go there right now.

Why not? There's no war in Russia.

Greenwood will never be in the conversation for england, it'd be way too controversial and the fa would never want to invite that storm. Can imagine he'll end up with Jamaica.

His career from now will be interesting, I don't think clubs will shun him forever. It'll be difficult for his initial comeback but if he proves himself and reached his potential those concerns would wash away. The better you are the more clubs are willing to forgive.

That would line up with part of the CPS statement. Curious to know what the part I've bolded refers to though:

"In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case."

I expect we all heard the recording. In terms of evidential value, what sort of "new material" would make a significant dent in that? Everything I can think of seems kind of improbable.

Sure, why not? People still wanted to work in the UK after we invaded Iraq, and that was far more difficult to justify.

    No, it wasn't.
You know very little about Russia or Eastern Europe at all, if you get your informations from Tucker Carlson.

Yes it was, and it's not even close. Ukraine borders Russia, and opens up an entire new front with a hostile alliance that Russia will have to defend. Iraq is half a world away and posed no threat to anyone. We literally had to invent a pretext out of thin air - a complete fabrication - to try and convince people to support it, and even then a million people were out on the street in protest. You have to have an extraordinarily Anglo-centric view of modern history to believe the UK invading Iraq was more justifiable than Russia invading Ukraine.

To be clear, I don't think either are justified, but the case for Ukraine is magnitudes easier to make than the case for Iraq.

Personally I think Greenwood will have much better offers now from across Europe than places like Russia. He's not been convicted or even put on trial for anything. This is from one of the UK's top prosecutors:

If he gets his head down then he can build a top level career again, just perhaps not in England.

I don't think he would be accepted in any of the major European leagues. My money would be on Qatar or Saudi Arabia.
