Napa, Erique, Gonzalez (MVP of this match), and Cuero are players we need to keep an eye on

Gareca is a very interesting candidate. Next to MAR, he's definitely one to watch out for.

His record with Peru speaks for itself - they qualified to the 2018 World Cup, and he basically cobbled together a squad that got 5th in the 22 WCQ on a team that basically came back from the dead (interestingly enough, only after beating Ecuador in Quito). His best work is done in the Copa America...the same Peruvian teams that would "struggle" in WCQs would outperform expectations in regional tournaments. He's taken Peru to the semis three times in 4 attempts finishing 3rd (2015), Runner up (2019), and 4th (2021). In 2016 the team qualified to the quarters. He's a tournament specialist and has usually worked with teams that are heavily represented by local players OR with aging squads.

Let's not kid ourselves, Gareca is a great bet. Can he replicate that success in tournaments in Ecuador? I don't know, but I do know that there is a secret sauce to get the most juice out of his teams, and with the talent Ecuador has at his disposal, I'm certain that he'll give us a legitimate fighting chance to make a run in the CA. Ecuador has rarely shown well in the CA- we need good showings to get our players more chances in front of big scouts...he would be joining a team that has a full cupboard- with the exception of the striker position, but he's savvy enough to figure out that piece of the puzzle. He'd be working with Ecuador's best roster since the 2014 run. No other coach has had so many assets at his disposal since then.

With all the growth we have had in recent years one of the goals to come in the Future is definitely to finally bring home a Copa America. There are a lot of pro to him being our coach and rumors are saying he is the main candidate. I just won't believe it until it's a done deal. Let's see if FEF manages to seal the deal on this one. I don't think it will be easy either. We will need to be prepared to pay him a rather large salary.

I keep seeing the same issues. Our defense being a disaster and the coach making any changes.

For sure he's a tournament specialist and works well with what he has. He should have an easier job finding a striker since we got Cuero and Zambrano coming up.

We definitely need to make a change in the CBs. The fullbacks did really well but the CBs got caught sleeping so many times.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m not really excited about the start of the futbol season. Feels like I’ve been overwhelmed by it.

I'm so glad we have CBs already on the NT because these two kids are not good enough

Who’s coaching the U20? They are playing like crap. All they do is hit the ball to the opposite side… like they don’t know what passing is. What a horrible coach they have.

Cuero is a hell of a player. Dude just pivots and passes so well.

Whoever is letting those two CBs start is crazy. Holy shit they’re horrible and way to laid back on the ball.

    At least they just scored.

I hope next match we start with Mercado and Delgado in that double pivot because Zambrano takes WAY too long to move the ball and the kid gets the ball stolen too easily.

The coach also needs to change one of the CBs.

Shoutout to Napa, Erique, Gonzalez, and Cuero again for another good game. If we tweak the lineup just a little bit, we can have a pretty solid team.

Some ok players, but the D has got to go ,those CB’s are a ball of nerves.had plenty of opportunities to put game away but couldn’t finish, players taking too much time to make a pass ,just horrible coaching(or lack of)

Work has kept me busy the past month so I haven't been able to watch the games. I've watched highlights. Cuero seems promising. How have Minda and Klinger played?

It seems like Moises will leave Brighton. Pacho is heading to the Bundesliga. I'm surprised Jose Cifuentes hasn't been signed by a European tbh.

Minda and Klinger have been bad tbh. The standouts have been Napa, Erique, Gonzalez, and Cuero.

I'm surprised that Cifuentes hasn't been signed either.
