Is it a regional thing that Rider and Temple remain open? These open jobs only hurt the program more right. Wonder how many of these players are in the portal.

    Interesting.

I wonder where in "professional soccer" he'll be going? Academy head or running MLSNextPro or a USL team?

Agreed. Jobs in the power conferences don't come along very often. There'll be a lot of interest in this one.

How is a "seat warm" after only two seasons? They haven't had an overall winning season since 2001 (9-8) and they haven't had a winning record in the Big South since 2016 (5-3).

    I'm all ears though.

We’ve already been down this road. But to reiterate, despite the lack of resources and history of success you have just pointed out, they do still require the coach to occasionally finish near .500 and to make the Big South tournament consistently. They will give you a bit of time but have moved on from the previous two HC’s for performance. The current head coach is a good guy and an alum so he’ll probably get some time as well, but he jumped from the volunteer role to the head coach during COVID because they offered the position to a few others that declined. I doubt the initial plan was to fire the previous head coach and run a search before settling on his volunteer.

My only reason for bringing this up as potentially warm (my mistake in saying surely, though I think if it were my job I would definitely be feeling like it was) is because of their expectations and the circumstances with which he got the job. I do not expect them to let him go this year, but it’s around the corner if they continue to win 1-3 games.

I think it's strange how long Oregon State is taking. I do understand that it's basically been month averages (roughly) from announcement to announcement. But, I would expect that Oregon State be ahead of the average. Now, I do think it's completely expected for Detroit Mercy to be well behind the average, as they are showing here.

That is back-to-back Oregon State coaches who have played with the Charlotte Eagles. There is a chance they (Dalby and Boss) crossed paths there, but not entirely sure on that. Does Behonick jump on staff?

You have to think so right?! One of the top assistant coaches just kind of falling in your lap.

As an unproven head coach I would be taking someone that I knew well and trusted completely. So I think that if he knows him and trusts him that he would be a great hire but sometimes something that makes sense on paper isn't quite as good in reality. A good assistant is someone who balances your strengths and weaknesses and the only person who knows that is the head coach.

Fair enough but a lot of the time going with someone you know is the same as going with what is comfortable. Comfortable is not always best. Trust, absolutely. Do your due diligence, I have a feeling he has some good references.

Sure…like these guys don’t know each other. It’s not like this DI coaching world is so small two coaches in Pennsylvania don’t know each other enough to end up in the same small area of Oregon to possibly work together.
