The dream would have been to have peak van Persie for the 13/14 side but he was already well into decline by then. I agree his first year at Utd was his last elite season - the season before (his last at Arsenal) was his peak. Sad how fast he fell away But in any event, I believe he did the right thing in not wasting his last good year on Wenger's failed management approach. It's also no surprise he did so well under Meulensteen (the real tactical genius at Utd).
