Familiar with East Asia, but he doesn't seem like a really inspiring appointment.

Spain had no plan B under Enrique.

Spain hasn't had a plan B in decades. They think they don't need it. A manager used to that kind of thinking is completely useless to Korea. Already by the nature of competitions Korea participates in, plans A (Asian competitions) and B (World Cup) are needed. Ideally, someone is skilled at both equally, but I'd settle for a strong plan B, and a (barely) passable plan A (like Moriyasu's record for Japan).

Plan C ( desperate times) is also needed, when things go to sh**, regardless of the competition.

I still don't understand that move.
We all know Japan's perennial weakness has lied in aerial threat from the no.9.

I guess he hates actual strikers. Definitely a bad fit for Korea. I want a pragmatic manager.

The KFA to announce our new manager by mid February instead of the original date of end of February.

Also, Park Hang-seo needs to stfu about the KFA not wanting to hire domestic managers. Guy thinks we have capable domestic options, but won't do the job himself, while insinuating the KFA hired Muller to specifically go the foreign route while pushing away domestic names.

Have to agree there. He should throw his name into the hat, and not just complain. There are probably foreigners on the list who are a worse fit for Korea NT than a domestic manager. Of course, there are also foreign managers who would improve KNT drastically.

The truth is that we currently don't have decent domestic options. The one name whom I wouldn't have minded had the KFA really pushed for domestic already signed a contract extension with his club, dodged the bullet imo. Shin Tae-yong won't be available until maybe some time after the WCQs while guys like Kim Hak-bum are garbage.

He probably thinks he's just looking out for his 후배s but I wonder if he even realizes that taking the KNT job (when not ready) is about the worst thing you can do as a Korean manager.

I love the guy and what he's done but he shouldn't just say stuff like this and then hide behind the "I don't deserve the KNT job because there are better manager than me" card

Far more butthurt than he is looking out for his juniors. The reason they're pushing hard for a domestic manager is the very fact that they are envious and butthurt at the same time given Japan's performance under Moriyasu at the WC. They literally believe that we can do the same or even better than Japan, but fail to realize that domestic managers haven't proven themselves in ages when it comes to national team duty. They can argue about Friendship Radish's performance at the 2010 WC all they want, but could he truly have lead the team to the Round of 16 without the likes of Park Ji-sung, Lee Young-pyo, Cha Du-ri, Jumen, Double Dragon, Prime Skeletor, Lee Jung-soo, Cho Yong-hyung etc.? The answer is a fcuking no. And, it doesn't make it any better considering the KFA are notorious for using and throwing away domestic managers like a used rag.

Not to mention 최동철 of Sports X-Files constantly trying to push his useless pro domestic manager agenda on YouTube, and the audacity of that senile 김정남 for even stating that our players would better develop under a Korean manager. Like bro, the players have openly stated that they want a foreign manager like Bento due to their leadership and management qualities/training system.

Skeletor? I know it's off topic, but please tell the story of how such a memorable nickname was earned (you don't allow PM-s, so, please do it here).

He's ballooned up a bit as of late. But he'll always be our Skeletor.

Yeah, he put on some pounds after retirement and looks much healthier now. We'd often worry of his health since he always remained skin and bones.

Probably extremely fast metabolism. It took me a COVID lockdown just to get 3 kilograms (69-> 72). I'm 189 cm tall, and I don't really exercise due to my disability. An athlete with such problems will look like bones and skin. Scary.

But yeah, one of the more badass/unique nicknames for a player I've heard. The weird part is that the guy was a defensive midfielder, and still played well enough to be capped 71 times. I remember him being on a few WC-s actually, but never paid attention to his weight.

He would rule out likes of SHM, LKI if he believes they are not good fit for his tactics or system.
That's what happened when he took charge of Japan and Morocco NTs, respectively.
Moreover, his communication skill is also questionable.
