Rensch was bad again. He’s pathetic on goal not attacking the ball falling backwards.
    He’s absolutely pathetic.
    No more Tadic Klaassen.
Conceicao tries hard but too small and predictable. Some bad decision making from him a couple times losing ball badly.

Has he done anything since the great run he had? He seems to last half to a three quarters of season everywhere he goes.

Schreuder should have stayed in Beligum. He will now wait for someone like Anderlecht and take that job

Horrible choice IMO. Need a caretaker and not a tag hire

  5. Sorry, but you're wrong. He was the plaster put on a purulent wound, but it wasnot big enough.
This started with the Overmars shit and resulted in sales and replacements not really thought through enough.
Already last season preps should have been made to have replacements targeted for Tadic and Blind for this season.
They told AS to row the boat without telling him they were going to drill holes below the waterline.

Schreuder was dealt a bad hand with all the departures. He thought that Antony was going to remain but the Brazilian forced a transfer. The players Ajax brought in have been mediocre and Bassey who was thought to be a CB replacement was not given enough time to settle in. But Schreuder's tactics have also contributed to the current state and he has lost the team as well. EtH knew there would be massive departures which I think also contributed to his departure; I'm not sure how he would have coped with the current squad (maybe he would have benched Tadic & Blind early on).

We'll see what happens with the team now. I think the new CL placements kick in for next year, correct? Dutch will get two group stage placements and the third for the playin round. I don't know if this club can get things together to make it to second place.

Bosz ideas work best with Ajax and maybe only there amongst the big clubs.

The biggest thing Bosz did beyond results: he got rid of bad attitude, not good enough guys and went full youth in 16/17. We need that right now desperately. We need someone with the guts to bench Tadic, Klaassen and go with younger, more technical players.

I hope van der Sar makes the right decision but I've lost all confidence in him. Not sacking AS during the winter break probably cost us the title and has absolutely handicaps us financially. The difference between CL and not is massive in terms of revenue, players we can keep and attract.

But I guarentee if we hire Bosz, he will have zero issues immediately benching Tadic, Davy and anyone else who isn't good enough. He will have no issues playing young guys.

Heitinga led training today and is likely to manage the team on Sunday. Whether he stays interim until the end of the season is not known.

Can somebody explain what the hell happened to wijndal and why schruder didn’t use him. Watched the Volendam game and it was funny when Bergwijn got subbed off. Angry for nothing when he clearly is on a decline. I remember saying this a lot, he is only good when in open space.

Brobbery was a big waste and I think Ajax made a big mistake spending on him. Schruder’s exist cannot be blamed on him entirely. It’s obvious the next in coming coach with some good signing will get the team back on track. This is always the case and definitely the demand of who ever is appointed the next coach. Can smell FDB

I don't think Wijndal was ever that good, a decent LB but not nearly as good as Malacia. Part of the problem was Wijndal was injured early on in the season and Blind started at LB with Bassey as a CB. That didn't work out and Blind was then switched back to the center with Bassey moving to the outside. Bassey is not really all that good with the ball at his feet and it's unclear what his best position is. I also don't know if Wijndal is better than Salah-Eddine who was sent out on loan to FC Twente and comes back next summer.

I think Brobbey will do OK and the big mistake that both the player and club made was not signing him to an extension before he left. He scored some good goals last season when he came back on loan. Ajax won't be signing any new players this transfer window and a lot of what they might do next summer is dependent on where they finish in the league. If they don't qualify for CL football their resources will be limited. Fortunately there are some good youth players moving up.[/QUOTE]

AS had said Wijndal didn't play in a match recently because of issue at training... I think there were some issues between Owen and AS.

That whole LB situation has been absolutely awful. Pay 10m for him, 22m for Bassey when they could have just extended Nico or even let him leave on a free next summer and been fine there. Instead, we spend 32m on two much worse players. Idiotic.

Agreed on Brobbey-- 20m is so far another giant waste of money. With that said- Brobbey needs a creative player under him and he's had freaking Klaassen. The worst type of 10 possible for him. Ironic it took AS until he got sacked to finally just go with Kudus at 10 and Brobbey at 9.

I thought things couldn't get worse but if FdB becomes manager, we are done in Europe and will go back to playing the most awful, boring football. That is a worst case scenario for me.

FdB was in the arena on Thursday, too. He was just getting us ready for it. I feel like it’s a 50-50 ajax ends up with him. We are going to be chanting Schreuder terug soon enough! ;)

I’m unhappy watching Tadic play whole match again while Brobbey gets benched.
Wijndal gets forward in 2nd half after anonymous performance since his move to Ajax over the summer was nice to see.
Klaassen scores but plays terrible football.
Rensch scores amazing left footed curler albeit without any pressure on him.
He basically does nothing good honestly and we need a better right back than him.
Bassey subbed in immediately misses his back pass to Rulli.
    Good grief he’s a mess.
Taylor just doesn’t do anything for me either. Midfield for Ajax somewhat consistently is not good enough.
Berghuis needs to find his form.
Conceicao are we really doing anything with a Smurf like player? Again let’s get something bigger stronger and more athletic.
Kudus in midfield adds more athleticism. He can be poor on the ball but for today against this opponent it looked good.
Bergwijn was better looking for the ball and if Wijndal gets forward to help it should only make the left side more dangerous in attack.
Timber and Alvarez had their moments of sloppy play are just shaky to be honest.
Timber at least can play football.

The Heitinga era (however short it might be) starts off with a 1-4 win against Excelsior. He opted for Tadic as striker flanked by Bergwijn and Kudus. There were still moments of doubt when Ajax turned the ball over and Excelsior mounted some dangerous counter attacks. Rulli made some good saves and Alvarez had a couple of good interventions. Feyenoord drew with Twente so Ajax move up to fourth and are now five points behind the leader. The one problem with the lineup was Klaassen who really should not be on the field against a lock down defense, his ball skills are really poor (always have been) and a deep lying playmaker is really needed in this types of matches. Taylor is not good enough and really only Fitz-Jim among the players is this type of player. The MF until Kudus dropped back was only average.

    Player Ratings:

Rulli (7) - had some good saves to keep the scoreline down and made no mistakes with the ball at his feet
Rensch (6.5) - what a good strike for the fourth goal and was decent enough in the other aspects of his game
Timber (6.5) - had a couple of moments when he was too far up field allowing counters to cause danger
Alvarez (7) - some good interventions as a CB and moved up to defensive MF in the late stage of the match
Wijndal (6.5) - had a decent enough game and is much better than Bassey with the ball at his feet
Taylor (5.5) - really is not a defensive MF and was just a bit above ordinary
Berghuis (5.5) - just average and didn't cause much danger
Davy One Goal (5.5) - got the match winner but the other aspects of his game were poor
Kudus (7) - good game both on the wing and in MF, with a strong shot for the third goal
Tadich (7) - I think false 9 is the only position he can play these days as he is no longer quick enough on the wing, strong PK to open the scoring
Bergwijn (7) - had some good shots that forced saves by the Excelsior keeper
Conceicao (6) - added some dynamism on the wing in the 2nd half
Bassey (4.5) - had a woeful miss on a kick when he first came in the match

Away to Cambbur next followed by a Beker match away to Twente. At least we can celebrate a WIN today.

Between Rulli and the referee feeling a little favorable towards Ajax… seems like this match could have easily gone differently, especially early on. Happy with three points, though!

van Gaal won't return to club football and I'm not sure what his health is like these days. ten Cate already had a shot at managing the team and it was dreadful. Heitinga will likely finish the season if by some chance he qualifies the club for CL football, I won't be surprised if he stays on.

If Heitinga gets results I hope they sign him for at least 1 year (plus options) to give him a chance to prove himself. But if the results suck for the remaining games this season then I dont see a future for him
