You would like my kid's grad school program. Because he voted for Warren, he is viewed with suspicion, as being overly mainstream and a possible tool for the right.
I'm not sure if anybody mentioned it, but there was another mass shooting in California last weekend. This one was in a rural area of Half Moon Bay, near the Bay Area, and apparently the shooter was a disgruntled worker at a farm. https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/25/us/half-moon-bay-shooting-suspect-chunli-zhao-what-we-know/index.html
It's not a shooting, but my daughter's school went on lockdown because some idiot with an order of protection against him for his kids tried to walk into school. He a knife with him,but it was never pulled out or brandished. If he'd wanted to bring a gun I'm sure he could have. We discuss the law and politics ,and we should. But seriously, what the fcvk is wrong with people? If we don't do something about that, laws won't matter.
It’s hard to keep up but there was also this shooting of four generations of a family in the Central Valley a week ago. Purportedly cartel/gang related: https://www.npr.org/2023/01/18/1149730440/goshen-california-shooting-family
This is what a lot of guns think. That's why they always push to be involved in a mass shooting. But the reality is that these guns end up locked for the rest of their lives in some police evidence room.
Ah, but the stories they tell when they get there! "I was used in a mass murder, motherfuker! My bullets took out twenty children, just like that. I got blood on my barrel to prove it. You? Just a bunch of clay pigeons. FOH with yo' weak-ass skeet shootin' self..."
You're absolutely right that our love for guns being stronger than our love for each other isn't 100% of the problem, and that other measures -- such as improved mental health diagnoses and care -- are also very, very important. Unfortunately, the GOP won't support that either.
That's what they say out loud but deep down privately they feel pain at being used for mass killings. Unlike humans.
Actually, it *is* normal, or close enough to it. After the Half Moon Bay shooting, the Post showed a graph in their dead tree edition indicating that we were two shootings behind last year's average.
So, let's check in on the Americanization of Israel: Eight dead and several injured in Jerusalem synagogue attack, say Israeli official
I'm in the middle of my annual Active Shooter training. It really is amazing what everyone else has to put up with, from the threat of being shot, to the grief of losing someone you care about, to the hassle of regularly training for how to react to an incident and how to care for others during one, just so ammosexuals can have their hobby.
