it's a fair argument that having healthy clubs is beneficial to the overall NT project especially since the club appears to be a venue free from the meddlesome whims of the federation it's a question of having an effective person involved in an arena where effective people thrive versus an effective person operate in an arena stacked against them where they will ultimately be ineffective. the principle being that it's a waste let the cheerleader cheer and leaders lead type of thing
I was obviously talking from the perspective of a fan of the club. If he leaves, that's too bad. But the strongest rumors were about him to the MXNT. In fact, I hadn't even heard any rumors about him leaving to Ecuador.
I do not understand how anyone can possibly be excited for Piojo unless you're an Americanista or just into cheap patriotism
7 points in group with Brazil and Croatia is the best we’ve done in the 2010’s I don’t want him simply because this roster is horrid and now going backwards. If anything I wanted him post-2021 gold cup when tata should’ve been canned.
I agree that a decade after seems useless, I wouldn’t have wanted lapuente in 2008, lavolpe in 2016, why piojo now when he hasn’t really done much since leaving except maybe lose to some mls and tico teams in concachampions
If anything Mexico has been hurt by the idea that clubs and Liga MX is going to do something. The NT is not going to be a powerhouse but right now it's the only one that has a chance to do something in world aspect a la Brazil and Argentina. Brazil and Argentina are powerhouse but unless there is a worldwide economic revolution, their leagues will NEVER compete or threaten the Top 5 euro leagues. I can't believe that the Mexican culture didn't take that away from the World Cup and instead got the "We need a Mexican coach because the World Cup winners always have a coach from their country" .
I’m going to puke if it’s Piojo. Mental midget who can’t coach and only serves as a jockstrap holder to cheer on his players
My experience as a Ghanian is the coach of the capital city's second team Accra Olympics was named head coach and we almost didn't qualify as he kept shoving 4-6 players from the club team to the national team that were nowhere ready. He was fired before the CAF cup which allowed us to get a better coach. This is a very bad sign. I worry for you guys.
Rumour has it that Herrera is going to be named coach. Please Allah let this not be true. I’m officially out if true.
I don't hate Piojo, but I don't exactly see him taking the team to the cherished 5th game. I wonder how he is gonna handle fragile young talent.
So I read that Piojo has been saying that he can take Mexico to top 4 in 2026 because it helps we are home nation, but with very little games in Mexico, outside group stages, does that really play a part? Unless he is saying usa is our home as well. Which that doesn't help us in hold cup, much less in world cup
Jesus ********ing Christ. Smh FMF…Midget failed at Tigres and everywhere else since his first stint, but somehow becomes the top candidate for the national team? Seriously boycotting if true.
I don't really get the hate for Herrera. He's a recently successful coach, with America titles, and he took Tijuana the playoffs. I don't know much about his short time with Tigres though to form an opinion. We always talk about how the National team plays with no motivation, ganas or whatever you want to call it. Herrera would bring that back, if nothing else he's a motivator.
Piojo would have been great if they got rid of Martino prior to the WC and the team needed a boost of energy. Now, it’s a new cycle and something else is needed. Besides, if it weren’t for Cruz Azul existing, Piojo would not have a career Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti calls Álvaro Morales while @futpicante is live to tell him that Miguel Herrera won’t be the next Mexican National Team coach. Only problem is he didn’t know he was on live tv 📺 😂 pic.twitter.com/zuz2JQwWEs— herculez gomez (@herculezg) January 27, 2023 lol Fútbol Picante
He did ok his last season at Tigres. Was eliminated by a 2-2 aggregate in the quarterfinals by an otherwise unstoppable Pachuca squad that went on to score 6 on Monterrey in the semis and 8 on Toluca in the final. Opposite leg and Tigres possibly makes the final. Almada is a better option though.
That’s all he is though. That has a cap when players aren’t the most talented. Additionally, all that “ganas” evaporated during the most critical game against Holland.
lol what? Everyone knows were screwed in that game and would have won had Robbin not dived. Something Robbin has already admitted too. You cannot seriously hold that against Herrera.
