Make no mistake, the left side is a massive issue. The piss poor overlap and support from Mendy has hampered our effectiveness and then there are his defensive howlers which happen EVERY game.

I hope he's ok but by god I never want to see him start for us again.

Not minimizing our midfield issues but Ceballos and Cama have stepped up to partially address those. Also, we can't have Carlo starting Kroos at DM and expect wonders from the midfield.

With Mendy injured and Alaba a doubt. It’s likely that Camavinga will actually be our LB. Nacho potentially but all depends on Carvajal.

I’d go with a midfield of Tchou, Valverde and Cebellos IF Camavinga is shifted to LB

Not as massive as the completely nonexistent right side, and no he doesn't make a mistake EVERY game but that sounds good to say so run with that

Get ready to type in caps and to shout at Carlo because i think you will be sorely disappointed whenever he is fit

It's the little details. Ceballos didn't do something extraordinary when we had the ball at the back. Instead it was the fact that Camavinga was available that allowed us to bypass the press without a straight turnover when Mendy gets the ball. Also the weird LB as the LAM works when Camavinga is on the field because he knows how to operate in tight spaces and always offers runs up top. There is soooo much I saw today that I have rarely if ever seen with Mendy. Sure, Camavinga might get found out defensively after a while but we have never had a defensively solid LB in ages so it won't be foreign to us to see him run ragged against certain wingers

It's funny. Despite Vini going solo and turning over the ball alot, when the going gets tough we completely disregard the right side and pepper the left side with crossfield balls. I can't for the life of me understand why we haven't adressed the Vini v 3 players issue. Like for real, it's so logical even my child could work it out.

It’s one of the beautiful things to see in football when a raw prospect grows into his own, takes opportunities by the horns and earns his place.

Camavinga was scandalous today. Dominant physically and technically all over the pitch. He is winning a starting role over giants that were ahead of him in the pecking order. This may be the moment he takes over this midfield.

Yes he freaking does bro, and incidentally he's been worse after the WC when he should be in optimal shape/form. He continues to regress defensively, make cheap short passes, provide near zero overlap support and lose every damn aerial duel. A lot of the ganging up on Vini is due to Mendy's poor role.

It's too obvious that he's hurting our team that I cannot see Carlo continuing to ignore this.

I agree with you on the right side, it goes without saying that has been a chronic issue for years now..

Btw, thought Nacho looked better than Dani has on the right side. He should get the minutes that Lucas gets there.

Nacho would work if the other side wasn't defensive also. Nacho does very little offensively but we know that already. The ball doesn't progress past the final third when he has the ball. It's always passed back or crossed from very far to at most 1 player in tbe box sandwiched by about 3 or 4 defenders.

I just hope Carlo doesn't bench him for past it vets when everyone in midfield is healthy. Already did that injustice to Ceballos, but benching Camavinga who has been our best player in January would be unforgivable. "Rest" one of Kroos/Modric every game instead.

all 3 injured now. Rodrygo injury not too serious, seems like precautionary sub.

It's the small details alright, Mendy is no world beater for sure but the vitriol he gets here is pretty interesting, first he makes a mistake EVERY game now whenever Mendy gets the ball playing out from the back it's a straight turnover, however i don't see either of those things happen but that's the narrative i guess

I would imagine that's because when Mendy is on the pitch all 99.9% of the fans look for and comment on with regards to his game is mistakes, and never comment on the things he does do that's positive, just like me people see what they want to see, just last game i saw Mendy create goalscoring opportunities, nobody cared, i see him make runs and is ignored, nobody cares, if he misplaces a pass though you can be sure the thread will all be, "that's all he does", like he's the only one struggling when they all have been.

Camma has just now begun to show what he can do after many underwhelming outings, same with Ceballos, Benz still in it and others too Luka down, Toni, down, Rudiger just getting going, Carva struggling, the list is long, but a special disgust is reserved for Ferland, in the end i stick to what i think, it's not that Ferland does not make the runs, or the positive actions, it's that the rest of the team don't seem to trust him with the ball, and that in itself is a major problem, anyway, happy for the win, happy the team is winning and hopefully getting stronger and stronger, on to the next game.

Ceballos and Camavinga have done more than enough to continue getting important minutes.

    Split the team in two!

But seriously, the SF will be postponed. That's preliminary schedule that doesn't account for Madrid schedule until we make it through.
