Threat or no threat, No parent of a player should be contacting the USSF to complain about their kid's playing time EVER let alone during the WC. Period. The youth teams one could argue differently (time away from school blah blah blah) but not at this level.
And Reyna is not out in Austin BREAKING: Claudio Reyna resigns as sporting director of Austin FC.Reyna will remain as a technical advisor to ATX. pic.twitter.com/BaUwm3HFBb— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) January 26, 2023 Eventful day in the US Soccer world.
I think The Reyna parents probably want a do over in the way they handled their disappointment with their son's playing time in Qatar.
First Earnie Stewart, then Brian McBride, and now Claudio Reyna.Getting the end of Godfather 2 vibes w/ all the loose ends being tied up in the wake of the #USMNT Gio Reyna soap opera/scandal. Picturing Gregg Berhalter in a fishing boat right now ala Fredo. https://t.co/LcVaCpByQS— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 26, 2023
Feels like McBride is Pentangeli. More to come apparently. So Reyna out as well. Lots of shoes dropping today. Don't expect that to be the end of it. #usmnt https://t.co/qS6viyjpmx— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) January 26, 2023
Whose standing at the alter with the baby being christened and denouncing Satan and all his works while this is going on?
Sure, I would throw him out too. I would clean house after the WC in terms of coaches, but I do think Gio will have to prove himself with the group and the new coach after his parents showed they are the ultimate soccer/ helicopter parents. can you imagine at practice if a guy makes a bad pass to Gio and then yells out to Gio across the field....."Hey Gio, my bad, please don't have your mom and Dad text to the coach about me." As a joke. The ribbing could go on forever after all this.
Just makes me think we are all victims to this interconnected circle of friends labeled as “players parents” and “USSF” officials. It’s all BS. They were all texting each other and had years of dinners/gatherings. Way too casual. Earnestly, most should be exiting in embarrassment. Wouldn’t be surprised if the law firm recommended they “settle” and this all goes away once people move on. I’m heavily leaning this direction and it 100 percent happens.
Imma say it...this is all way fcvking worse than anything alleged King of Nepotism Bob Bradley ever did.
Maybe Berhalter will withdraw from consideration? It seems pretty clear he won’t be back despite them saying he’s still a candidate and he may want to spare himself further involvement.
I respect Bob immensely and honestly didn’t mind the empty bucket. He and Bruce did some cool stuff in their early careers. I think we all assumed former MNT players would have valuable experience for coaching and managing. That’s not always the case.
I really don't understand what there is still to reveal? Gregg's admitted to domestic violence, and there's no doubt about his doxxing of Gio at the 'leadership conference', and there's also no doubt the Reyna's were all over the Fed about how poor Gio was being treated by mean old Gregg? Has anybody even suggested there's something else to learn? Has anybody seriously claimed the stuff above isn't true? I've mostly stayed away from this, because it's pretty sad and pretty ridiculous, except for the domestic violence. It makes me sad to see how many people have dismissed it as 'minor'. * that. It may be long in the past, but it isn't 'no big deal', and I wish people were a little better about how they talked about it. Especially given the pervasive mistreatment of women that we've seen in US Soccer. To sum: there's nothing new to learn, right? And Claudio's gone, and Ernie's gone, and Brian's gone, and Gregg's gone... oh wait, how the * is that still not true? This Federation man, there's no bad situation they can't somehow make worse.
For some reason, your post did not show up in alerts but I saw it just now browsing thru here. You ask: "So is the locker room a public or private space? Can't have it both ways.?" Did you ask Berhalter that question? What did he say? Ok, you don't communicate with Berhalter but what do you think he would say? Gio says Gregg told him what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room. So why did Gregg bring the locker room into the public in the Chatham newsletter and on twitter? I gave you the links. Now tell me, please. You can't have it both ways.
Ream didn't seem to appreciate it. Anyway, seems the Federation is maybe preparing for a lawsuit from Egg?
