Lol where is the French tank announcement from gung ho Macron? what’s the bet he doesn’t send them? but Scholz!
Sooooo, they can arm apartheid South Africa, but not Ukraine against the Russian thugs? Not a good look.
I think this has more to do with the geopolitics in the Middle East, mainly Syria. They don't want the Russian starting to make their activities over there significantly more difficult.
Some Russian media also said today if Israel did provide weapons, they would help Iran with obtaining a nuke. Obviously no idea what is going on behind the scenes, but Israel is definitely not getting any positive perception points. I'm frankly bewildered.
Come on.. I was talking about the Turkish-Greek war that set the current borders. You know, the time when tanks already existed. Not about the Ottoman Empire and the Greek war of independence a "hundred" years before that.
Because it's about some islands that cover big resources. Air Force and fleet would be the decisive factors.
IIRC some weeks ago the new right wing government indicated it would be more sympathetic to Russia .... go figure
The Turkish National Assembly was constituted in 1920. They conducted the war against Greece. The Ottomans still in Constantinople tried to oppose them but had no power considering that Constantinople was occupied by the Allies. 1923 was when the sultanate was abolished.
here is the intro of a tv show about a tank crew in WWII from the late 60’s all the rage behind the Iron Curtin when I was a kid
The European Commission has the worst PR in the freaking world Firstly they are the best thing about EU. If a you like big law that all the tech giants must obey the EC is most likely to be the reason. What does this have to do with Ukraine? Well they gave the most money to Ukraine they are helping countries with the refugees and simply pay Eastern European countries to give their weapons to Ukraine. Countries like Poland are getting paid to take care of the refugees Only USA has given more and that is only because they gave weapons worth 13 billion So far, the EU, its Member States and European financial institutions have made available up to 49 billion euros in financial, budget support, emergency, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine. And if you ask people to name the biggest contributors to the Ukrainian war effort EU would not be in the top 10 Brag about shit...... EU ffs!
I read a book maybe 5 years ago that was about the humanitarian/refugee crisis after WW I. The Greece vs. Turkey conflict was prominently featured in the book.
Yea.. so it was the Ottoman Empire until '23. What's your point anyways? A conflict between Turkey and Greece is highly unlikely. If it happens, it would be jets and ships fighting to control islands. In no way Greece needs hundreds of tanks. It's more the case that Greek are orthodox sand have a traditional bond with Russia. A bit like Israel they just don't want to choose a side.
De Jure empires don't count. If the Ottoman Empire isn't doing the fighting and it doesn't control any land, the empire doesn't exist no matter who is sitting in Constantinople. My point is don't make historical points that are not true.
What are you taking about? Have you played too many paradox games? I actually have a magister (master+) in history. Pls just stop, it's embarrassing at this point.
Latest from Victoria Nuland The #US authorities are ready to consider the possibility of easing anti-Russian sanctions if #Moscow starts withdrawing its Armed Forces from #Ukraine, said Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland. pic.twitter.com/219jxqc6TO— NEXTA (@nexta_tv) January 26, 2023 Also: "US tells Turkey that Congress would be more favorable to the sale of F-16 to Ankara if it approved the admission of Finland and Sweden to NATO" Perhaps, but Erdogan could easily say that he would be more favorable to the admission of Finland and Sweden to NATO if the US approved the sale of F-16 Then: "We are working closely with the Belarusian opposition" As if Lukashenko needed more incentive to join. Also, she's publicly admitting to meddling into another nation's affair. This alienates the Global South and this statement is getting a lot of reactions in those parts...sloppy diplomacy
