Personally, yeah, I'm very excited about Leagues Cup. It would have been nice if the Rapids had been matched up with one of the big clubs like América or Tigres, but that was probably never in the cards. I do think it will be pretty fascinating to see how "average" MLS and Liga MX teams match up with each other, which is really not something we've ever gotten to see in a high-profile way.
Galván's back in the mix 🤩#Rapids96 pic.twitter.com/BWpep6LAoP— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) January 21, 2023 GREAT to see him out there again. Galvan is gonna turn heads this season. I know it’s no surprise to us - but I’m thinking he’s gonna catch a lot of people off guard around the league.
I'm glad we play a MLS team that isn't already on our schedule. Plus we get to see our 2010 friends Gary and Kosuke. I'll be interested to see how we do vs Toluca. I know nothing of them since I don't follow the Mexican league. I'll be interested to see the overall results between MLS & MX teams. Will one league or the other win most of the matches, or will it be pretty even? Since I don't watch the MX league I have no idea.
Leagues Cup? I'll start thinking about it in come July. The biggest issue for me as a season ticket holder is the potential lack of home games during the window. If I understand correctly, during the group stage they will host Toluca. To host during the knockout stage they would have to win the group - correct? Potentially they could have only one home game during that period of time.
I too believe Galván is going to have a good season for the Rapids and he is one of several players that will be critical to the attack improving this season. Hopefully, Yapi or Cabral or Harris really has a solid season as well.
I think that a MLS team matched against a Liga MX team in the knockout rounds they would host regardless of where they finish, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Wow, Padraig actually did something. Ronan actually looks like a fairly good acquisition on paper and hopefully he can adjust to MLS. However, I really hope this is the last midfielder we sign for a while. We have much bigger needs at the back and up top that remain unaddressed.
With the acquisition of Ronan and the return of Bassett, I wonder if players like Larraz and Priso will bee loaned so they can continue their development. Certainly, someone(s) on the midfield will have trouble getting meaningful playing time this season.

You'd get a great GK in Pentz. Incredible reflexes, very very very good with the ball on his feet. Only major detriment: A 6'0 he's a little short for a GK.Gambled last summer when his Austria Wien contract expired and lost, landed at Reims who never really needed him.— Philipp Eitzinger (@PEitzinger) January 24, 2023

All interesting and even exciting additions recently. Question: Do we have international spots for Ronan, Pentz, and the anticipated Maxso? If not, who has to go to make room for them?

Its a little unclear right now, mainly because the website seems to be in flux. Nicholson who had a green card is now listed as an international while Vallecilla, who should be listed as an international unless he quietly got a green card in the last couple months, isn't. Acosta and Wilson have been listed as internationals just within in the least week or two, but aren't now. If the website is accurate (or if they're equally wrong on Vallecilla/Nicholson) then we would need 1 more spot to bring in Pentz, Maxso, and Gersbach. Or we'd have to loan one of our internationals out. Or we would need somebody (likely Price) to get a green card in the next month. We currently have 9 spots. Currently listed internationals that are actually signed are Max, Cabral, Galvan, Harris, Nicholson, Price, and Ronan.

It is funny how proactive they are with GK but LB (post vines)/ a forward who can score (CB last year), never get addressed.
