Obviously, pay is relative to the how selective the University can be in hiring, demand&supply, how long you've worked there, as well as cost of living and pay relative to that of teachers at high school. From salary.com (I know. not trying to really dig into this) That's AVERAGE. Meaning a few professors are paid a lot more than your newer hires, even you're newly-tenured hires. Teaching faculty, aka adjuncts, I don't know if they even figure into this data. Likely not. Public School Teachers (from worldpopulationreview.com): Your state college/university professor will likely make more in the same states that public ed teachers do. Maryland and DC are among the highest. There is a reason your history and poli-sci teachers wear corduroy blazers with tweed elbows.
There's also the differences between private and public university, research university vs teaching college, university vs community college, etc.
I figured private wasn’t in the stats, but I could be wrong. Again, I didn’t look heavily into it, just mainly looking at Maryland/DC teaching wages.
This is why it's better understood as a form of fanfic. Like the old ladies who spend years on complex true crime conspiracies about gangs of pedos that operate at the highest levels of government and stole Maddie McCann for the podesta brothers or however it went. I don't think they are supposed to be understood as literally true
She's gone into that a few times over the years. Basically 'normie' republicans find the likes of Pence creepy and weird
Longwell/Favreau had a good section on how deeply you have to be invested in the fanfic even to follow it. Like I didn't understand the "Biden Crime Family" stuff until I read the WAPO explainer/debunker - yet this is what Stefanik is promoting to voters. Yikes
Longwell's "Focus Group" is really interesting to listen to in this regard Most Trump voters are 'normies' who pay not much attention to politics. e.g. they don't know about Hunter Biden's laptop, or the Biden Crime Family etc. The ones like KK who post about great replacement theory and hunter's laptop think they are moderate conservatives but in fact are far right, even by the standards of the GOP. Ultra Maga is a semi facist movement, and what they believe in, is White Christian Nationalism. Thomas Zimmerman has excellent writings on what "belief' means in this context
I know elsewhere that studies, interviews, et al. have said a big reason for the belief is the lack of diversity of news sources. Did she say anything about that?
I don't recall the exact splits but basically most people in general pay little attention to politics from any source.
Wait, you're saying Pence = Beelzebub?????? Given the way a subset of evangelicals flocked to Trump. . . that could actually help him.
This is written about the death spiral of the Conservative Party in the UK but applies to the US as well as Cohen notes. Brexit has dissolved the distinction between moderate and extremist ConservativesPiece by me on why the almost desperate yearning in the UK and US for the return of reasonable, pragmatic conservatism is a fantasyhttps://t.co/Falckhztx8— Nick Cohen (@NickCohen4) January 26, 2023
Well, 80% dont follow politics closely. But those who are swing or are dem have a wider variety of news sources. That's what I'm wondering if she looked at.
Marjorie Taylor Green is trying to learn to spell "impeachment" for the documents. She has managed to get as far as in...peach...man. Once she learns to spell impeachment (or gazpacho, for that matter), you can expect those articles on Kevin McCarthy's desk as fast as it would take to deliver a bomb on January 5, 2021...allegedly.
Hope Biden will stick to his guns!! Biden Vowed to Never Again Negotiate Debt Ceiling Hike “In 2011, after faltering debt limit negotiations with House Republicans brought the U.S. to the brink of economic calamity, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden sat by the fireplace in the Oval Office, with their top aides on the couch. While relieved at having narrowly averted disaster, they were stunned by what had transpired,” NBC News reports. “Obama and Biden made a vow: Never again.”
I know it is Politico but an interview with someone who negotiated the last one. In summary, at least Boehner was a rational actor who understood how devastating default would be while trying to deal with radical elements in his party. That doesn’t exist with McCarthy. “Veterans of the Obama-era debt ceiling standoff on the current one: We may be doomed Financial experts and political operatives experiencing debt ceiling déjà vu fear this time around, the ending could be catastrophic.” https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/26/obama-era-debt-ceiling-standoff-00079574
NOW you care about classified materials…..you can’t tell me the difference between classification and caveats can you?
