On Paper? We are average. Like Denmark, Sweden, Ect.

If we weren't average we wouldn't need the inclusion of Brazilian scabs to start for our team.

If you want to be a dreamer fine. Be a dreamer.

I don't agree with you, at best we are a top 7 squad, some players are massively overrated by being part of the Jorge Mendes laundry machine, but by no any means we don't have top players to pick and choose.

Anything bellow quarter finals in the next Euros is a failure, if we don't win at least we have to play better than under Santos, that's what I demand as a Portugal fan.

denmark... and sweden.....? have you no pride? look at what we did to switerland..... with us playing anti-football we dominated spain in the nations league and they squeaked out a goal in the last minute. we've played france (the best team on the planet) last four times we drew twice (2-2,0-0) and lost twice (1-0 both times) and in those two games we lost we outplayed them both times for long stretches of the game and your trying to tell me we are at the same talent level of sweden???...... common broooo. maybe I'm delusional but so are you my friend, just in the opposite direction.

Haha... The Swiss game was an anomaly. in the last 5 matchs we have won 3 and lost 2. Sounds average.

    Spain....

OMG.....only two players that played for Spain in the nations league games started in the world cup. They were playing with reserves and we still lost.

    Ball Control - Spain 61% Portugal 39%
    Ball Control - Spain 62% Portugal 38%

If we didn't play anti-soccer we would have lost badly because we can't control the ball against them.

    France...

You are talking about games played in 2015, 2020 and 2021.

We still had a younger Ronaldo and Pepe and many of the players were younger.

Now Ronaldo and Pepe are done and most of the other are approaching 30 or already over 30.

what we did to the swiss is something that our team should be able to on a consistent basis to a majority of teams if given the proper instructions. spain holding the ball in their half and passing the backwards to each other doesn't mean anything. its about chances created and the quality of chances. what was spains possession vs morroco? again.... your acting like Portugal will never qualify for another tournament because we no longer have one of the greatest players to ever kick a football in their prime. chill out. we should of won the euro in 2004 and 2000. could of went to the worldcup finals in 2006 when ronaldo was a kid doing stepovers. no team on the planet would want to play an offensive team like Portugal, we are talented. we just have to get rid of this pussy Portuguese mentality that most of us seem to have for whatever reason. if teams like crotia can beat teams like brazil why cant we? if teams like england can go to semi finals why cant we? aside from Bellingham who really impresses you on england? maybe foden ill give you that. your telling me if we take messi off Argentina and take ronaldo off Portugal and our team is coached to go and attack teams we wouldn't slap Argentina? common man.

Haha....Do what we did to the Swiss consistent? It happens a team scores early and the team throws everything forward and you score more. Spain did it to Costa Rica and still lost to the same Morocco team we lost too. Means nothing. Its one game.

I never said we wont qualify. Demark Qualifies...Swiss Qualifies....Sweden Qualifies.

2000...was a great team. Have we wont a u18 world cup since? We haven't even finished 4th or better since that team.

2002....same team lost to USA and South Korea.

2004....Carry over from that generation but older. Needed Mourinho Midfield (including a ballon d'or Brazilian) to save us in that tournament.

2006....was our best chance for the world cup because of Deco.

Talented yes...Are we going to beat teams? Sure. We currently don't have the team to compete against the top teams and not enough to win 4 games in a row to win a major tournament. We don't have the midifield.

You mention Croatia without mentioning Modric. That's the difference maker in the midfield we desperately lack.

Argentina has already been talked about.

There is no point arguing because I am putting up stats and facts. You are stating would haves and could haves.

With your logic if we loose its the coaches fault for not playing attacking soccer even though we don't have the midfield that can control the ball/

ya your right. so many facts presented. portugal is trash and will struggle to compete against Sweden. hope we can qualify for another tournament in our life time and if WE ARE REALLY LUCKY we'll get to see them score a goal or two in the group stage.

switerland is not costa rica. how many times have you seen Portugal score an early goal and try and hold onto a 1-0 lead and let the game slip away?? fact is we are stronger offensively then we are defensively that's why we should attack teams. maybe Portugal cant keep possession in the midfield because they aren't set up to keep possession your telling me bernado felix vatinha and even donkey fernandes are incapable of keeping possession with the best of them? common. well see

It's the perfect team for him. He will do well with them. He can play the way he wants.

Apparently he signed through the 2026 World Cup.

    Big project. Just like Martinez.

We usually win but its never easy. Last 3 matches.

    1 win
    1 tie
    1 win on penalties.

Did everyone read the last article on Martinez? Wining percentage is just 41.59% Lifetime!

    OMG.

Also every coach does better after leaving Portugal.

Then make your prediction! I have! I will own it if I am wrong but of the three Midfielders you have mentioned.

Three aren't even starting regularly for their teams now. We still don't know how Felix will be at Chelsea.

So make your roster and your prediction in this thread.

If you are wrong you stop looking at soccer like a prepubescent fan boy and look at the team rationally.

sorry, what was your prediction? ill tell you what mine is right here..... we will breeze threw qualifying easier then we have in the last 15 yrs while being the top scoring teams in euro qualifying
... then barring a penalty (cause its a coin flip) shootout we will get into the semis. this is my prediction IFFFFF Ronaldo doesn't play.

whats yours? we squeeze in threw a playoff and don't get out of the group stages?

Well to be fair, his win percentage with Belgium is much higher, over 70%. The other clubs he managed were mid table or lower division clubs

Still has be concerned because a great coach brings you up.

A lot of people could argue he took a great Belguim team and took them nowhere.

    Sure....

    Or blame the coach.

    Or blame the ref.

    Or blame the pitch.

    Can't face reality. Typical.

Look all of these conditional wins. If this happens or that happens...blah blah blah

Ok....Here is my prediction. If every other team forfeits we will win the euro, nations cup and world cup regardless of who starts for Portugal.

If those games against Bento & Queiroz are anything to go by, It's always dangerous when we go against a manager that knows our players too well. Santos now has a way better team than they had.

Santos is going to want his revenge on the FPF.

I can see Lewandowski scoring on us through a 57th minute header from a corner and Poland parking the bus and frustrating us for the rest of the game.

Portugal will probably have over 80% possession against them.

I think Martinez is going to improve our possession alot. He is a Catalan so he is going to integrate Tiki Taka into our game. Gave the ball away? Benched. He is going to coach our players to avoid giving the ball away at all costs.

When people talk about Belgium, they need to pay attention to 2018 Belgium, not the finished Belgium from the 2020's. Portugal will be in great form for the euros. Something Martinez can specialize with for sure.

i said one if, that's if ronaldo doesn't play we will be more successful which is the complete opposite of what you have been saying.... according to you portugal is now on the same level as sweden. lol you didn't actually give a prediction, which is actually TYPICAL pussyhole behavior.

i understand your pain though... I've been a fan for 23 years.... maybe you've been a fan for longer.... its the constant heartbreak and disappointment. you suffer from emotional damage watching this team play, i get it but don't worry we are going to see beautiful football again... it has nothing to do with the coach, we will play much better because ronaldo is gone and it will allow other players to flourish. but don't be a pussy hole. be a man and actually give me a doom and gloom prediction.
