So you're saying McCarthy will now put him on the Homeland Security Committee in place of some Democrat?
Social Security payments could be delayed or missed. That would piss off a lot of traditional Republican voters. The question is, would they blame Biden (probably, given they watch the Fox propaganda network), or Republicans (unlikely)?
Sarah Longwell had an excellent interview on PSA on Thursday - talking about her focus groups and current shape of the GOP. Basically you now have the MAGAe establishment vs the even crazier MAGAe. There is now no moderate congressioal GOP - people who won in Biden districts are as moderate as they get, but they have little power. Congressional policy is wildly to the right of even MAGAe voters. Only a very small % of MAGA Trump voters support the debt nonsense for example. Most of those low attention voters are focussed on economic issues. In other words, the deal with the Chip Roy lunatic fringe is wildly out of step with GOP voters who want to protect social security, medicare, medicaid etc Conservative voters largely rejected extremism/crazy on the ballot in '22 - they may have wanted to vote conservative but they didn't like Lake etc. There is a hard right / extremist group of voters who want the Hunter Biden investigation etc. Moderate voters don't care about that stuff. Main objections to Biden are his age, or that 'he's been a disaster (inflation) In general voters on the right, whatever their beliefs, seem to be 'sick of losing" - this is mostly why they are increasingly done with Trump. They don't want to hear more election stuff. Favreau pointed out this is a significant difference between Trump '16 vs Trump '20 In '16 Trump actually spoke to voters as an outside, running to the left of Jeb Bush re unpopular GOP policies and the washington swamp. Now he talks about himself 24/7 - so he lost his mojo to some extent. This indicates a wider development, that Trump '16 was about a triangulation, running as a 'more moderate' republican on abortion, healthcare etc whereas both Trump and the GOP lurched wildly to the right since '16 - so they seem to have forgotten the lessons of Trump's victory Remember when 'serious people' thought there would be a congressional wing for Trumpism? Triangulating on issues like healthcare? How naive that seems today!
As we've seen in the UK what will hammer voters is increase in mortgage interest rates if the GOP causes turmoil in the US debt markets. Truss basically handed a massive cost increase to UK homeowners for nothing in return. Just base incompetence.
https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/21/politics/george-santos-denies-drag-queen-brazil-festival/index.html George Santos says he was never a drag Queen, he was just having fun at a festival. Which sounds vaguely like having a wide stance or hiking the Appalachian Trail.
I loved her thoughts on Pence running for president. She also talked upon how RDS is popular as lots of GOP are just putting their hopes and dreams on him as a blank canvas. However, RDS is very bad at media and engagement so the leaves and opportunity for someone else.
I spy with my little eye...a congressman in drag (at least :30 in) The drag queen in this video sent to me by an anonymous source appears to be wearing the exact same dress, necklace, and earrings as Kitara Ravache in Brazilian drag queen Eula Rochard's photos that’s been circulating online, alleging it is U.S Rep. https://www.thedailybeast.com/a-23-...rumps-stolen-election-playbook-only-it-worked Basically this kid who stepped down because of a DWI took steps using city council laws and I guess payoffs from behind the scenes and got himself to be an unelected mayor.
Fine with me if he comes clean and co-operates. Just a minor infraction, the same as with Hillary using a private email server. Well OK ...a bigger infraction than Hillary's, which was comically small, but still no big deal in the grand scheme of things.
It depends on the nature of the classification. If it's the secure-room only stuff, hang him. If it's the low level stuff, it's not that big a deal. Honestly, the government classifies far too much stuff. Lots of it is information that is legal to find in other ways, some of it is to hide corruption or embarrassments. It's really gotten out of hand.
Had the conversation the other day that every former Pres, VP, Sec of State, Sec Def, Sec Homeland are all probably scouring their files for classified materials.
Yes, was robbed on 5th Ave in broad daylight & they even stole his shoes. Something-something woke prosecutors financed by Soros.
Today I realized that all the dysfunctional aspects of my personality have a clear origin: the shoes worn by anthropomorphic M&Ms in TV commercials. Thanks to the GOP for looking out for me.
One of our local Trumpsters just sent an email to her friends entitled "Never Again," which explicitly compares the damage caused by global pandemic lockdowns to the Holocaust. You can tell me that both sides do it, and I will say, show me where even the looniest of Democrats send around something so stupid and despicable.
Yes, I've seen the meme with COVID "victims" wearing yellow stars. Because purposeful annihilation is so much the same thing.
One of the big changes of the Republican brand is how it now attracts self-pitiers and narcissists. I don't think it did any more than the Democratic label back in the past. But now it has become the party for snivellers, as witnessed by its Presidential candidate, most popular media personality (Tuckums), and prediliction for making Holocaust comparisons.
https://newrepublic.com/article/122806/could-climate-change-cause-another-holocaust https://www.theguardian.com/science/blog/2007/nov/30/comparingclimatechangetoth Recently, after giving a high school commencement talk in my hometown, Denison, Iowa, I drove from Denison to Dunlap, where my parents are buried. For most of 20 miles there were trains parked, engine to caboose, half of the cars being filled with coal. If we cannot stop the building of more coal-fired power plants, those coal trains will be death trains - no less gruesome than if they were boxcars headed to crematoria, loaded with uncountable irreplaceable species. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fl...izing-famous-paintings-holocaust-normal-event Roger Hallam — the founder of Just Stop Oil, a far-left British climate activist organization — once downplayed the Holocaust as a "normal event" and said climate change was a more serious threat. https://nypost.com/2019/06/18/aoc-claims-us-is-putting-concentration-camps-on-border/ ”The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border and that is exactly what they are – they are concentration camps – and if that doesn’t bother you,” Ocasio-Cortez said as she throws up her hands. ”I want to talk to the people that are concerned enough with humanity to say that we should not — that ‘Never Again’ means something,” the New York Democrat said
