Virgil is out for a month according to Klopp today. add 2 weeks to compensate for his usual optimism .... puts Virg coming back just b4 the RM game.
seeing stories about Nunez missing most of this week's training, and may not be available on Saturday. yayyyy ..... here we go AGAIN!!!! came across this - an excellent behind-the-scenes look at the churn within the club's medical staff since Klopp arrived, and the frequently at-odds philosophies re: training methods, how hard to push players, and recovery protocols. not encouraging reading. https://theathletic.com/3597043/2022/09/16/liverpool-medical-department/
On Roberto Firmino's recovery: "It was a little injury at first, estimated 10 days to two weeks and then Bobby felt something again so that'll be longer. He is not close to team training."
James Pearce is saying that Nunez has a hamstring injury. I am really getting sick and tired of our players dropping like flies.
Yeah, injuries continue to occur more frequently than I can recall in my time watching Liverpool. I think it's past the stage of simply being a natural part of football. Whether it's down to too intensive training , too many games , poor medical care the problem needs sorting.
we have WAY too many players who break down in training - not just ones coming back from injury, but players who as far as we knew had no problems after games. only 3 possibilities - we overtrain them, repeatedly or - players feel too much pressure to get back out there or - our medics are atrociously bad at giving advice OK I'll make it 4 - all of the above at different times. anyhow my vote is we are constantly overworking them.
Jurgen Klopp reveals expected Diogo Jota return date - "He looks really good" - Liverpool FC - This Is Anfield
Hopefully not but as with all youngsters you just never know until they are tested in the prem league itself. Having said that I do like Gordon . High hopes for him and Doak. Interestingly they both play the same position but are totally different stylistically.
At this point they should be reporting who is, or how many are, actually fit rather than listing the 2/3 of the squad who is out injured.
Apparently Virgil and Firmino back in training - doubtful either will be available this weekend though.
