Maybe to piss off FIFA they should invite the winner and runner up of the copa libertadores into the CL. That would make that title suddenly a financial hit.
I wouldn't mind a lot more of the wealth in the club game being spread to South America, there are many great traditional clubs there with huge fanbases. Not sure this will do it though, as FIFA tournaments tend to make a ton of money for FIFA above all else.
Get more Germans....... Bundesliga news: Frankfurt want squad 'continuity' as they fend off January offers https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/...urt-want-squad-continuity-fend-january-offers
such a flop, ex Hertha too. Matheus Cunha to Wolves, here we go! Full verbal agreement reached between clubs with Atléti and also on personal terms. It’s a loan with obligation to buy clause, around €40/50m. 🚨🟠🇧🇷 #WWFCMedicals being scheduled while all the documents will be prepared in the next days. pic.twitter.com/m6kIkB2t0m— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 20, 2022
Gladbach will look different very very soon. -Sommer bailing Winter or Summer, 2023 contract -Bensebaini bailing Winter or Summer, 2023 contract -Thuram, bailing Winter or Summer, 2023 contract none seem headed for extensions -Plea, clubs want him and has $10M exit clause, 2025 contract -Kone, according to Bild gonna bail in Summer, 2025 contract, basically whole dev/sell then you have -flops like Hannes Wolf won't last -serviceable Jantschke is 33 y/o in April with 2023 contract -Stindl also 2023 contract. Debating whether to extend Gladbach or go home and play Karlsruher. He turns 35 y/o next season -Weigl only on loan, club might not be able to afford buying him but could if they sell others
The CL is quite stale tbh. Wouldn’t mind seeing top Libertadores teams shake it up. I don’t know how competitive they would be but the atmosphere at their matches would be fantastic. Would be a lot better then the new format they are implementing.
Not LA Galaxy no. I meant SA traditional clubs like River, Boca, Flamengo, Fluminense, Penarol etc. No MLS franchises, (do they even participate in Libertadores anyway?)
Stuttgart=incompetent club bring in hacks, hacks not good enough so get loan dumping and none succeeding on loan. Only 1 hit loan out of 8, LOL. https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a75716254046497724-wohlgemuth-hadert-mit-vfb-leihgaben
The new format was a knee jerk for the top teams to keep them off going into superleague mode. However since the preliminary judgement of the top advisor to the European Supreme Court that UEFA has the right to punish clubs for going the esl way, so expelling them from the league is not a abuse of power. Since the first chest banging by the esl initiators they got the billions ready to start a rogue league it became apparent (something I've been claiming since the first mention of a esl emerged) they can't survive without the umbilical cord attached to the domestic league. Not only to survive the first 2 years of the start up, but it turns out for the whole operation. So basically the top clubs have no leverage left anymore. Threats to go their own way are now futile, because with the European preliminary ruling it simply means suicide. It's time UEFA starts flexing it's muscles and take back the extorted priviliges granted to the top clubs and reinstate the level playing field in revenues of clubs.
With the year coming to a close I must say the greatest joy I experienced as a German football fan was witnessing Eintracht Frankfurt winning the UEFA Europa League, the first time in 25 years that a BL club not named Bayern won a European tournament, and I sincerely hope we don't have to wait another 25 years for that to happen again.
It's interesting that Man City dominated the league with a false 9. The season they bring in a real striker in Haaland who is scoring for fun, they start dropping points left and right and are trailing Arsenal (the club which they sold their false 9 to) by 7 points. It seems the false 9 debate is still ongoing. It's going to be intriguing to see the end of the season. The amount of times Gabriel Jesus wins the ball high up the pitch is incredible and it's something that Haaland cannot do as well but it helps the team prevent attacks from the opposition and concede less goals. That might be one of many reasons for Arsenal being ahead. Haaland stays up front and waits for the ball to come to him while Jesus is everywhere on the pitch and makes everyone around him look better thanks to his elite physicality, hold-up play, link-up play, dribbling and acceleration. Wasn't there a stat that Dortmund was scoring more goals without Haaland than with him? With Jesus being out for 3 months, I am not sure Arsenal can keep this run going though.
This guy is usually pretty entertaining. I agree with most of his points, can’t stand all the feigning injury/time wasting that goes on so any ideas to stop it are worth considering. I’m not sure about making injured players see a doctor for 3 minutes, but I would 100% advocate stopping the clock whenever a player is down ‘injured’ or a sub is made. If teams know it makes zero difference to the clock they won’t bother trying to timewaste in these ways. As for intimidation/crowding around the ref, that should be an immediate booking for the offenders. Only the captain plus any player involved in a specific incident should be able to speak to the ref, the rest of the team stay out of it. Tactical fouls is an interesting one, I kinda feel like they should be more than a yellow. I don’t like moving the position forwards so much, but maybe a 5 minute sin bin for the offender?
I remember reading about introducing the orange card in football, where a player is sent off for about 10 minutes.
LMAO Bayer Leverkusen was pating itself on back for foreign youth that they poached to U19. Spanish 05 CF Bravo forced move back to Spain, today Dutch 05 GK Steur is back to Netherlands and always fuss about how Danish 05 M Sertdemir will bail soon enough. Kanga, Sesay, Zirkzee, Jung etc have all done nothing in U19. just shows how full of shit these clubs are. They shit on German youth but none make it from U19 anyways, LOL.
40M for him?! lol that's crazy. Rutter has great athleticism and dribbling skills but his decision making is usually poor. He doesn't have the end product to be worth anywhere near as much. They're paying a lot of money for potential.
Hoff sold the flop Joelinton for $44M, LOL. these EPL club just like to burn money. Rutter really is a dribbler with no end product too. So yeah how do you justify that price. Price should be primarly about end product. now will get TONS of shit if he can't produce from day 1 by fans+media. LMAO going to Leeds who are relegation candidate. These players so desperate for EPL would go to bottom clubs. At least Schade went to a club who are Europe contenders, haha. with Rutter gone shows that there aren't many CFs in Germany who are young players they are almost all leaving perm or on loan, lol. Tel is last Frenchie youth CF in Germany but always talk about bringing in new CF+extending with Moting and constant playing him wide makes one think Bayern sees him in non-CF at least for now. I don't care, glad he's gone, one less Frenchie and I hope that Hoff focuses on integrating the Germans.
Borussia Dortmund have explored the conditions of a loan deal to sign Anthony Elanga from Manchester United. The player would be open to join the Bundesliga.🗞 @FabrizioRomano #BVB— BVB Newsblog (@bvbnewsblog) January 16, 2023 Reinier 2.0
