I've done this for years with UW football games. Back when I started you just had to accept the local radio broadcast was a little ahead but now with online streams and DVR tech I can get them within less than a second pretty quickly

{Ismitje goes to Apple TV to explore subscribing, sees no MLS anywhere, enters MLS in the search window} No Results There were no results for "MLS" on AppleTV+. Try a new search.
Yes. I've heard Apple and MLS are doing this, though it hasn't ben said too loudly yet. https://t.co/12Rq7l855z— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) January 11, 2023
I’ve never felt I had to apologize for loving or covering @MLS. What are you now going to be able to do/say that you weren’t able to do before? https://t.co/easjPupwrw— Alexi Lalas (@AlexiLalas) January 12, 2023 He really might be going away forever.
This doesn't seem to be the way to attract overseas fans: Australia Starting 1 February, fans can subscribe to MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app for A$22.99 [$16 US] inc. GST per month during the season or A$149 [$103 US] inc. GST per season, and Apple TV+ subscribers can sign up at a special price of A$19.99 inc. GST per month and A$119 inc. GST per season
Their money is worth more so when you do the exchange today it equals $103.27 a year or $15.93 a month.
He's now working for an entity that's solely covering MLS, so there's no longer a battle to get attention amongst all of the other sports.
He can proudly fly his MAGA flag. Or whatever political leanings he might have. Being political at ESPN has gotten people fired. Thx. Jay!
I mean, I'm not aware of a political stance that prevents someone from "unapologetically covering" MLS, but I'll admit I haven't done a deep dive on the subject.
Does anyone know if we can watch local games for free on the Apple TV app? For example i'm in the bay area so can i still watch the Quakes for free or do I need to pay for the subscription?
You don't hear red state pickup truck types hating on soccer so much anymore. The truth wins eventually.
Some unknown fraction of games will be free on the app, but it will have nothing to do with being local. You will need the subscription to get all of your local team's (or any team's) games.
Surprised thus hasn't gotten much talk. But apparently per Jonathan Tannenwald MLS/Apple has been working behind the scenes to get some sort of what looks like some sort of bar distribution agreement. The context was about US Soccer games not bring available in bars. Some USWNT fans on Twitter were complaining about it in the thread.
