But that is not Ajax news which is what this thread is all about.

for the best, of course. But yet, this makes me sad. Will definitely miss him (though not his form the last year or so.)

    This is pretty crazy:

Hopefully salary saved can be used to sign Ziyech... Perhaps a swap deal with Alvarez going back to Chelsea?

Seems like Ajax will sign a GK, RW, DM. Any quality at GK/RW would help tremendously. And I really want a ball-playing DM.

Looks like we’ve found our new starting GK

Good- relying on 40 year olds wasn't going to work. Gorter clearly not good enough.

Just quite frankly embarrassing it took us this long to buy a GK. I have no idea why we didn't in the summer when we spend so much.

Makes no sense carrying Stek and Pasveer.
I’m no fan of Pasveer but how or why now has he been soured on?
After all the mighty LVG called him into Oranje for World Cup and it looked like he would have been the # 1 until our “very smart” Bondscoach found not only his penalty killer, but the unexpected #1 in the very inexperienced Andries Noppert.
Gorter not cutting it clearly needs to go.
Curious about the what happens to Noppert now? He is the Oranje # 1 after all.
Rulli who I’ve seen about a dozen times at Villarreal is an interesting choice.
I’ve been told by a few people that he is the best Argentina keeper despite the badly behaved Martinez heroics.

A few interesting things as things heat up in this window:
    * Daley signing with Bayern- but not really long term. Just a 6-month contract it seems to place Hernandez. Good for him.
    * Magallan contract was terminated. Worst signing ever? 9 app, 192 min for 9m Euro. Total disaster.
    * Awful tackle on Donny and he might've done his ACL. Just mentioning because I always thought he'd come back to Ajax.

Lots of players out sick today (Kudus, Bergwijn, and Berghuis)

EDIT; also 16 year old Jorel Hato a CB/LB is also on the bench. He has moved up the ranks very fast and is now with Jong Ajax. Maybe best defender to come up since de Ligt.

He’s pretty good and has grown on me over the years. Gotta give him credit.
Done dirty by clueless De Boer at Euros and LVG for recent World Cup.

Awful defending on a free kick leads to the tying goal for NEC and that's how the match ends. Hard to tell from the replay I saw, maybe Rensch was at fault. Ajax had chances to win the match in the end but Cillessen stood strong in goal and Ajax was just left with the one goal. Schreuder put out the best 11 he had but the lack of attackers was key. Conceicao was quite good in the game but it has to be said that Tadic is nearing the end of his playing days. He cannot beat defenders any longer and is not much of a threat on the left wing. He really needs to be a substitute player but I doubt that will happen. Good to see Fitz-Jim and Rassmussen get game time. It's just disappointing to drop points when there was a good chance to win. I think it is now five league matches without a victory.

    Player Ratings:

Pasveer (5.5) - had little to do other than kick the ball up field
Sanchez (5.5) - picked up a stupid YC and had a couple of good runs on overlap but he's really not good enough at this level
Timber (7) - solid game with some moments on offense
Rensch (6) - don't know if he was at fault on the goal but he was decent at CB
Bassey (6.5) - worked hard all match but is not helped by a rather immobile left wing
Alvarez (7) - strong match with several chances on goal
Taylor (4.5) - had a couple of chances on goal that he really should have done better with but was just average otherwise
    Klaassen (6) - scored a nice goal
Conceicao (7) - really good game constantly causing danger down the right side
Brobbey (5) - they need to figure out a better way to get him involved in matches; really did nothing before coming off with a shoulder injury
Tadic (5.5) - good assist to Klaassen and that was it; his free kicks were just average when they needed to be much better
Lucca (5) - had one header that missed the mark
Fitz-Jim (5) - came on too late for Taylor
    Rassmussen (NR) - on late

NEC's MVP was Taylor, no doubt about this. What happened to this kid? Was so promising just a couple of months ago. Midfield of Klaassen, Alvarez and Taylor equals no midfield at all.

Ajax lacking in speed of play and quality once again.
Rensch in back at LCB is crap. Gets caught diving in from the halfway line almost immediately to start the match, and Ajax are under pressure for no good reason.
Rensch has zero clue. No tactical understanding and poor decision making. Not good enough for Ajax.
He was responsible for goal. Just switched off let’s his man get in from behind.
Wijndal not playing again seems to be another waste of money.
    Lacking in midfield creativity Ajax.
Missed Berghuis and Bergwijn today as I expected would be the case.
Klaassen’s a bizarre player scored a goal but useless on ball or for most anything needed in terms of possession play.
Brobbey little supply once again for him. Was working hard and hopefully not a serious injury.
Seemed frustrated again, but then again how could he not be?
Sanchez at RB Bassey at LB not great in attack or buildup and the same can be said of Alvarez going forward from his defensive midfield role.
Need better quality with the ball in these positions.
For me Lucca and Conceicao are not good enough either.
The Italian is stiff and slow while the little Portuguese is just small and weak.
Timber was good in back tried to get forward at times, and he seems to be back in form after a rough start to season.
Pasveer not much to do will get a seat on bench after signing Rulli.
Fitz Jim gets about 15 minutes was busy so nice to see, and Rasmussen too looks skillful but limited time to really assess these youngsters.
Tired of Tadic. So slow on the ball. Can’t get away with him out there for the entire match.
Taylor does not seem good enough either for me. Just lacks in the necessary quality most of the time like many in the side.
Camera get showing Van Der Sar and Huntelaar in the stands. What are they thinking about?
Schreuder on bench gives little indication that he’s the right man for the job.
Very hard to watch this mess .
Respect to Cillessen who was pretty solid for NEC.

    Taylor NEC MVP?
    Explain this?
    You mean Cillessen I’m thinking.

It was an attempt at sarcasm. Did more for preventing us from winning than any of NEC's players. Missed two sitting ducks plus wasted almost all balls in his possession, no useful move at all during the entire game.

He can be successful in the right kind of tactical set up. He needs to be used like Haaland is at ManCity - making diagonal runs with quick cuts (DO NOT think that I compare him to Haaland; it is more the kind of tactics). Ajax pull him so far away from the box and try to use him to hold up the ball which is NOT the type of player he is. He is also hampered because Tadic cannot beat defenders any more.

Just wasted too much time of my life watching the ESPN+ replay... Another totally embarrassing result. No wins in 4 Eredivise matches. Too many things were awful to list them all. But the worst:

    * Clueless AS makes 3 subs and none until final 20 minutes + 2 were because of injury. This guy is just so bad it's unreal.
    * How many guys started that are useless on the ball? 5? Having fullbacks like Bassey/Sanchez with limited technical ability kills this attack. Obviously, Alvarez is incredibly limited. Klaassen not even worth typing about. Concecaio can dribble and.... ?
    * Ajax deciding to go with Pasveer over signing Cillsseen for basically nothing then compounding the issue by now paying 10m for a GK is yet another moronic transfer decision.
    * Let's just start playing kids. Lots of these guys playing just stink and aren't good enough to play for Ajax. I'd rather see what we have in a bunch of the young guys.

I could go on and on but the reality is sad: Awful coaching, players who aren't good enough + brain dead transfers.

We need a total overhaul. This is pathetic.

Zero technical ability in that midfield. None.

    "He needs to clarify this."

Players have zero respect for AS. This is really painful to watch.
