Pulisic missed a shot. He didn't rob a bank or slap a child. Nevertheless, like Argentinian fans in 2014, I wish he had finished the chance. He didn't need to take it first time. He had time to settle it and pick a corner. It was a good tournament overall for the team, I'm just left wanting more. That's the long and short of it. The reason people miss shots is often because they are off-balance, reaching, hurried, or leaning back. Body positioning and balance, i.e., body mechanics, are a big part of success in the game. I think the biggest factor in the loss overall was simply fatigue and savvy. Netherlands kind of cruised into the round of 16 and had an intelligent game plan. We were tired and naive. I hope the kids and the coach learned something.
I take you at your word. Even if it was you, it's BigSoccer. No one dies and no one gets hurt here. No biggie.
Sorry deleted my post. I remember now I posted it. Actually I think Pulisic really got banged hard in the previous match scoring the goal v. Iran and I think he was far from 100% in the Dutch game. Did you know that Pulisic either scored or assisted on all goals scored by the USA in the 2022 World Cup? But the one shot that didn't go in was responsible for everything that happened in this cup. Go figure.
He had a good tournament. He took one in the nutz for the team. Not much more to say. I just contest the idea that the shot was too difficult or no one else would have put it in the net. Pulisic himself said that he regretted how he took the shot. Chit happens. We have another chance in 2026.
