I just can’t stand the place. 9 months was too long for me. I remember a particular restaurant, not super high price but not cheap either, but after finding out we were from Mexico the waiter asked if instead of utensils I wanted a tortilla. First time was a forced laugh but every single time he came back it was the same joke, apparently the whole staff was in on it.That was one experience out of many. Every office, store, market was the exact same. Working in law I see arrogant stooges every day but they are pretty few and far between. Nevertheless, every single person in Argentina had to make it their goal that day to let me know how insignificant I as a Mexican was to the mighty Latin Paradise that is Argentina. Jeez that rage is just popping up after this World Cup. I need another bender.
Soccer is like 70% of their identity, which is pretty cringeworthy sometimes. I mean look at what this bitch wore as the national costume in a Miss Universe contest What sucks for us is that Mexico is such a shit team that we can’t really defend ourselves when we talk about fútbol.
Incredible scenes as Argentina arrive in the middle of the night. Thousands waiting along the motorway pic.twitter.com/qEFkIETXbz— GOLAZO (@golazoargentino) December 20, 2022
Even uglier displays of hatred & bigotry from Argentina fans towards Kylian Mbappé displayed here. pic.twitter.com/WY4Saw0LsQ— Get French Football News (@GFFN) December 20, 2022
Rafa if you want to keep living in a world where FIFA has never previously done anything sketchy like take bribes to host a tournament in sketchy countries, scalp tickets themselves, banned Mexico from WC 1990, yet let Brazil slide a few years later for same overage players offense and etc., what can I say? Yeah why would they want a cash cow like Mexico out, but they've done it before like in 1990, 2010 and maybe 2014 so why not keep doing it? It's all about narrative, what a wonderful narrative to have a team on the brink of elimination and then finish with a story book ending for one of the football world's most iconic players and one of the most controversial WC bids yet. People get convicted of conspiracy all the time in court (or admit to conspiracy like some FIFA members too) why would it be out of the question that it can't go on in something so insignificant to our lives as football? Like I said before, if we watch football like we were watching AAA Lucha Libre or WWE we'll be in a better place. [Do I really need a link to show FIFA bribes issue]
It's always the same thing, pointing out as if one says that FIFA isn't corrupt when people don't buy your foil headed conspiracies. Governments being corrupt doesn't mean Q-Anon or the Lizard People ruled the World thing is true either.
It was Qatar and PSG, who would rather buy it for Argentina than the country were the clubs plays in..
I spent a month visiting Mendoza with my good buddy who is from there and was welcomed by his family as if they were my own. You can have a negative experience as a foreigner anywhere you go. Here in LA I've been to restaurants with my buddy where Mexicans or Centro-Americanos make fun of his accent and every time they come to the table go "Che boludo!", thinking its funny, to the point where it's just cringe and uncomfortable. He just sorta shrugs it off. This shit happens everywhere and most of the time its isolated incidents. I'm not sure who you met who thinks Argentina is a might Latin paradise, Lmao. They are the first to admit they live in a poor sh!thole with very little opportunity. And so what if they center their culture around football? If that's all they have then let em have it man, let em celebrate and enjoy it rathe than shit on their one achievement in 36 years. I wear my Tri jersey everywhere I go---and If we won a World Cup I'd sure as hell never take it off. Maybe we should collectively focus less on obsessing with and finding faults in Argies and focused more on fixing our own corrupt system, fixing youth development and career priority. We have the talent but the focus is too much on the money and not enough on building up our talent. Not to mention zero competition in CONCACAF. But nah, from fan base to exec levels its easier to blame it on outsiders and say the game is rigged against us. What a joke. Some of the posts I read on here are bordering xenophobia, kind of wild man.
LMAO one of the first things I said was “it’s not an isolated incident.” I mean you can totally believe what you want to man, but I have never met an Argentinian who did not believe they were a mortal deity, I’m starting to think you were in Montevideo and not Mendoza. I get the xenophobic logical fallacy is easy to fall into but you know better, I trust you have better critical thinking than that. Don’t cry wolf at the first sight of trouble. I’m not the only who had those experiences with Argentina, so choose to go hard if you want, but it seems you are the anomaly with those experiences.
thinks they're a mortal deity? Dude If you're gonna bring up anecdotal evidence to claim that country of literally millions is full of horrible people, I'll bring my own anecdotal evidence to counter that. Just like when Trump idiotically states that Mexicans are criminals and border hoppers--- sweeping generalizations and xenophobic remarks are always gonna be pretty shitty in my eyes. And for the record I've been to Montevideo--wonderful city and great people too.Still doesn't negate the fact that Mendocinos were great to me as well.
Now that is a weird hill to die on. Lol Should say if, not when, cause the likelihood of that ever happening is remote.
Oh buddy… One, I said the Argentinians are arrogant, not horrible. Two, That’s not what anecdotal evidence means, you’re liberal arts professor did a horrible job at explaining that. Three, Trump? Okay. Four, “sweeping generalizations” and xenophobia are not the same thing, I hope you recognize that, by using the connector “and” I’m assuming you do. I’m glad that stuff seems shitty, but again they don’t mean what you think they do or at least how you are perceiving them. It’s common nowadays so it is what it is.
He’s at the top of my list. Never watched maradona, and only saw a little of Ronaldo. Dinho was pretty amazing for a stretch. I’m interested in seeing yalls top 3
