Don't think Tonali was winning over the team captain.

yeah, they did some wonky things with the points. penalties for all games and winner of penalty portion gets 1 point each. i don't think there was a draw but they are 2 points each?

i don't mind the trying weird things too much in this case. and penalty shootout is fairly interesting.

just watched the highlights and it basically encapsulates everything i hate about italian football and wish for nothing but eternal misery for their scummy national team: they will happily take bites and smack the opposition but you come within a breath of them and they go down like a paper mache doll in a monsoon.

i need gabriel to tell kane how easy penalties are next NLD. i think poor matt smith missed his take in both games.

i've said it before and my opinion hasn't changed: while those stars would be nice transfers, the transfer i want the most is just some some random midfield asshole from the championship whose sole job is to go into a game and break someone's legs - literally - when their gameplan is to kick saka out of the game. i'd sacrifice a game for that. just bring him in and his sole job is to locate that team's best player and just flat out break his leg. nothing accidental, just a flying leg break. pay his fine for him and move on. for extra deliciousness, have him walk by the opposing coach and say, "the arteta sends his regards." you wouldn't need but one or two games to send the correct message.

    mutually assured destruction works.

Absolutely agree. And it was funny seeing England fans who support other clubs during the WC who were upset with Saka getting kicked out of games but in a months time when their clubs play Arsenal they will be happy to see him kicked around again.

Would absolutely love someone with Parteys motor and positioning who is an absolute ********.

And It looks like Smith came on today at 90’ specifically just to take a PK. Oops.

The bite-size highlights made it look like we had more of the chances, but the stats show that it was even, actually a slight edge to Milan.

The other things I noted: an absolutely perfect FK goal by Odegaard over the wall; and not much PT for the kiddos… Mikel is getting serious about his starters being in match shape… no surprise there.

relatively certain i saw some of the same commentators who backed gerrard in mocking saka bitched and moaned about calls.

nah, don't need to be someone good. i want some cheap and expendable who'll be grateful to earn EPL paycheck to not play (except for very specific purpose) and we don't mind being suspended for 5-10 games. i want a full-on keane-on-erling's-daddy on somebody then have them walk off totti-style when he kicked balotelli.

While we seek out this cynical player, I can already and with certainty say, “he’s a good lad, would never intentionally hurt anybody, and doesn’t have a bad bone in ‘im.”

I don't mind a player that's a bit of a ******** in the middle of the pitch for my squad.

Fresh off of winning the prestigious Dubai Super Cup, we play our 3rd (and final?) public friendly during this interlull...

Tomorrow (Sat) 1pm ET we host Juventus. Anyone willing to shell out the quid, can watch it as PPV on Arsenal.com.

I assume that there are no other free/easy/safe streams and will just watch the highlights when they're posted.

Let's just hope we continue our very positive run of friendlies results this month, AND don't pick up any new injuries!!!

I'm assuming one would have to submit an email address in order to access this "free" stream, but this may be an option if there are no other known alternatives. I will be abstaining from this option since I have no desire to associate with any Italian club.

If you can avoid seeing the score online or don't mind watching a game you know the outcome of, they have been posting the full matches at https://www.arsenal.com/video. Just know that it'll be tough to get it started without seeing any spoilers because the link to watch the full match will be mixed in with highlights and interviews that show the score.

Did anyone watch? Sounds like a bad result despite a dominating performance, which in general is perfectly fine for a friendly. But may amp up the pressure to buy someone who can finish in January.

I agree. I'm poised for a New Year's surprise signing or two from Eduteta. And not a youth project

p.s. I wasn't surprised to see Ramsdale in the XI, but Xhaka/Partey who put in serious shifts in Qatar? Was that wise IDK?

Partey actually played in the friendly with AC Milan, his last game in the World Cup as 15 days ago. Xhaka’s last World Cup game was 11 days ago. They also have another 9 days before the West Ham game. Barring a potential freak contact injury there is more reason not to play them, to keep them sharp, than not to play them.

Xhaka didn’t get high enough on a cross and flicked a header past Ramsdale into the far corner and Holding deflected a low square cross into the net. Hopefully they used up their own goal quota in a meaningless friendly.

Did anyone watch the match? Have seen people saying that we absolutely need a striker, and that Nketiah won't be able to carry us as a ST.

I really am against the idea of taking Martinelli, who is both in career best form and now entrenching himself as one of the best LWs in the league, and putting him as a ST where he hasn't ever really played a lot of game time.

And reports that Thuram can be had for cheap ( £10millionish) so if we don't inquire it seems criminal.

I'm not against the idea in principle, the problem is it doesn't solve anything because someone still has to play LW. ESR still isn't training and Nelson went off hurt vs Juve.

    This. Is. Not. Good.

That said, we have another week until we resume play, and then the transfer window opens.
