UCLA will always be really good because it’s UCLA. You will always attract the top of the top there and should be relevant nationally pretty much every year. Still you have to say really well done to a first year head coach that went the whole way it is quite spectacular.

i think she was a breath of fresh air. She did more in freeing the players to play than anything tactical or technical. The players gave her what they had and it was enough to win it all. hats off to her and her staff.

Awesome job by the UCLA staff. If you go into Carolina twice in a season and beat North Carolina both times. . . 100% deserve the national championship and all the praise that comes with it.

Looks like there was a reason why ULM was open. So much for these keyboard warriors. Maybe the same will come shouting they lost this job to him.

It’s widely known he was canned/ forced to resign at ULM. Somehow landed on his feet. Poor hire considering he was just forced out of ULM.

ok Sean. Not like coaches in that conference don’t talk. This guy was suspended during the season and was sent packing at the end.

Do you ever get over losing jobs to coaches who are better than you? Or is it they’ve beat you at recruiting? A game? What is it?

Get over it. That’s the best thing to do. Not a good look always chasing non-stories and spreading lies. But, it is good for Sean and those programs he goes to, they have never had this much publicity before and are now the most-talked about mid major WoSo programs in the country.

You just don’t stop the foolishness do you? There are numerous on here who know who I am, and it’s not who you claim. Really goes to show what you say has zero merit.

You do you though. Probably will end up muting you because of the continued lies you spew.

I tend to only agree with collegewhispers 50% of the time. But this comment is right on the money about Sean. He’s luck to have been hired again, but It’s at a school and program very similar to ULM. Because Jacksonville State would not have been a job in my opinion many would have wanted.

There was sideline talk in Nashville that the administration gave Fraser an opportunity to ‘resign’ or be terminated. Naturally he took the resignation offer. Any insight into who they are looking at as a replacement?

I recall someone asking how coaches who just finished their fifth year have done, which would be coaches hired in 2018. The gist of the question was how they did now that they have their own rosters of players (which is a little ambiguous due to the Covid extra year). Here is what I have using RPI ranks, with the first year being 2017, the year before they arrived (except for the two yellow highlights that use 2018 for the first year since they were new D1 teams in 2018). The second table shows the overall average change and then the average changes for females and males.

The comparisons are not necessarily apples to apples. For example, Nate Norman has taken Notre Dame from 14 to 4, which is only a 10 position improvement. Given the area of the rankings, however, that is a very big improvement that the tables do not recognize.

Congrats to Alan at NAU, he does a lot of good work. Always out on the trail recruiting, putting in the work. Led the team under difficult circumstances this fall to a title. Kudos.

And to UCLA, I was skeptical how a young inexperienced head coach would do in a tough conference, even if a team has a lot of talent, it's difficult to manage that talent sometimes, egos, and getting everyone to work together. I think they exceeded most peoples expectations, mine included. So kudos to her as well. Makes me wonder how good Cromwell was, or wasn't with those same players essentially taking them to the title with a new coach, when she hadn't produced the last 3-4 years very well in the tourney. Looking forward to next years competition and seeing how everyone does.

    sure do.

Any word on Toledo? I know of one division III head coach that had a zoom chat but have not heard too much aside.

Interesting stuff, but there are one offs good and bad in every program. What might be more interesting is to see the 5 year average before these coaches arrived, compared to the 5 year average since.

This is clearly based on RPI. How is the top coach list calculated? Thanks as always for your passion and efforts.

I understand you said this isnt a great comparison but you just took the RPI of initial year hired and now. Not noting any RPI improvement, conference wins, tourney wins. It could be those coaches off year but have won trophies etc prior in the 5 years

Toledo seems like a very attractive opening for someone looking to make a move. They have nice facilities, the campus is in a nice area, and they have good recruiting hooks into many of the quality midwest clubs that surround them. I have zero visibility or knowledge into how well they are funded and / or treated within the athletic department, but from the outside looking in I would think that opening would have received a lot of interest.

WOW massive hire for UTEP with Gibbs Keeton from Texas Tech. Miners struck gold! :)

Sounds like Coastal Carolina announcement coming this week as well

Interesting that they have removed all links to any of the women's staff. No links on the roster, team isn't even listed in the staff directory.

That's an odd move when presumably they fired the head coach because they weren't happy with the team's results. Usually you go for a new staff. Also I know there are plenty of former and current coaches here, so maybe some will agree and some will disagree with this, but if I'm that assistant, that's not how I want to get a head coach job. There are going to people who suspect a bit of back stabbing there. Maybe that's just me.

It won’t be Wall. He’s about to be announced as the Head Coach at D2 Mercyhurst.
