Good rant................except Mexico didn't lose to Poland. Anyway, i think the demise of Mexico on these boards is partly wishful thinking. They'll be back.
Well that was just dumb by me, but my point was tying with Poland isn't particularly impressive and I didn't consider the rest of my post a rant. I think Mexico is in for a down cycle, as I just don't see it in their next generation. The thing is they are still going to be head and shoulders over the rest of CONCACAF, so we won't see it except in tournaments like Copa America and the World Cup.
Parma and Genoa also have American owners. Technically Roma and Milan as well but neither would really look towards Berhalter. Reading between the lines my bet is Spezia is the team most interested
GB sometimes has his own requirements that sometimes don't match the consensus choice. Yedlin won't be back; he will be too old. Moore is already 26 he is in this team because he is the teammate of Zimmerman at club and GB likes continuity. We have other young ones make a run for the RB or LB spot. Reynolds and Che are the frontrunners, so far.
I hope some decent American soccer journalist (that narrows it down to 2-3) makes some inquiries regarding what contact US Soccer and Gregg Berhalter have had with Folarin Balogun over the last three years. What has the communication been like? Has Gregg spoken to him on the phone, video chat, visited him? When was the last time? Had Gregg asked Balogun to come play for the US? Did Balogun reject any overtures? Or did Gregg feel like our current forward pool was good enough that he didn't need to pursue Balogun?
Folarin Balogun and Matt Turner are both Arsenal players, although I'm pretty sure Balogun has been on loan at Reims pretty much since Turner joined Arsenal, so if they know each other it's "barely"... Wikipedia says Balogun left for Reims a few weeks after Turner's first game Balogun: In August 2022 he moved on loan to French club Reims Turner: Started Arsenal's July 8, 2022, friendly at 1. Should get Flo but we're likely up against Nigeria for his services. He could chase England but I suspect all that would happen is they lock him down and move on.
I'm pretty sure he and Yunus are friends/know each other well, and I have some vague, possibly made-up memory of Yunus giving a little laugh when asked and saying Folarin was a London guy through and through. Which doesn't mean he won't have a change of heart.
One of the measures of our domestic talent programs is how many young players are being called up by top European and South American nations. This is a pretty darn good prospect. A new cycle might be starting but #DualNationalPanic stays the same, thankfully. U.S U-19 midfielder and new Inter Miami homegrown Ben Cremaschi called up to Argentina’s U-20 team. He’s one of the top American 2005-born players. A key American prospect. Would be a key YNT loss pic.twitter.com/CXhQcs6NC1— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) December 7, 2022
Frustrating. I'd like to think we could get these guys after how things have gone since '21, being a part of this youth movement etc. It is interesting. 20 years ago none of this was happening, now we see more than a dozen kiddos getting pulled this way and that every half year or so at least.
There are sooooooooooooooooooo many dual-nationals being called up by foreign teams at the youth levels, that the youth forum is just inundated. And not just to Haiti and El Salvador. We've had recent callups of USYNTs to Portugal (Bento Estrela of NYRB), England (Christian McFarlane), etc. etc. Almost every South American nation has called up a USYNT-eligible player over the last year. Mexico has three at every camp regardless of youth level. There is no hiding a Diego Fagundez or Jesus Ferreira type player here any longer. Most nations have contacts and scouts in the country. There are swarms of them at the Dallas Cup and other youth competitions. The overwhelming majority of these callups aren't binding in any way. Its kids exploring options, which you can totally understand.
Let's hope he starts breaking into the first team... Jonathan Gómez starts for Real Sociedad's first team in a friendly vs Rayo Vallecano.19-year-old Mexican-American LB. 🇺🇲🇲🇽 https://t.co/3uBgYNyCZh— Justin Moran (@kickswish) December 10, 2022
Not sure I agree with this logic, but sharing it nonetheless... Folarin Balogun likely isn't the most unattainable prospect anymore. It's Amir Richardson.Balogun saw England flame out yet again. US didn't advance far either but he watched them outplay England with his friend Musah shining. Balogun has USYNT experience & contact from USMNT.— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) December 10, 2022 Amir Richardson has represented only France & Morocco youth teams, never the US. He will be watching both of his nations battle for a spot in the Final. US is a distant third place in achievement.Still tough to get Balogun but he seems more likely. 1 out of 2 would be great.— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) December 10, 2022 Gotta be Balogun even if Richardon's potential seems high. Balogun is one of the top players right now in the domestic league of the nation that knocked out England— ChuckMe92 Soccer (@ChuckMe92Soccer) December 10, 2022 I'll stand by my odds
Why, do a lot of 20 year olds playing for mid-table Le Havre in the French second division end up getting a significant number of caps for the full French national team in recent years? Edit: just found this article from a year ago http://americansoccernow.com/articl...-as-richardson-sees-career-take-off-in-france “This is my first season as a starter,” Richardson told ASN with the help of his mom translating. Uh oh, seems like despite having an American father, he doesn't speak English... But there's this as to why he's accepted France and Morocco YNT call ups but not USYNT: Of course, Richardson also holds an American passport through his father but has not heard from U.S. Soccer.
