I don't know anything about what players or other insiders think but if were true, it would ruin a few posters days...or weeks. They would have to find new captions for photos....
Ummm......Did you actually watch the first half of Brazil's game against South Korea??? They boat raced them....then put it in Sunday Drive for the second half and strolled into the Rd of 8. France did similar to Poland. The U24's, no matter who the coach isn't beating either of Brazil or France.
You're talking about Benfica's 5th choice center-back with less than 2 minutes league football this season right?
Well you're not going be happy with whoever USSF chooses are you because it's USSF. And first time they start a MLS player over a second tier European player you're going to claim they have a quota. And if it's a popular foreign coach who fails you're going to blame Earnie Stewart or Don Garber or Alexi Lalas or the MLS academy system. You're like the QAnon of American soccer.
You mentioned 2018, you mentioned Sarachan then you mentioned the Nations League finals. In 2018 Sarachan brought in the European based players that are the heart of today's team. He also tried a bunch of other UEFA based players. In the Nations League finals Berhalter fielded teams almost entirely composed of European based players. So when it comes to a question of quotas etc I don't think there's any real evidence.
are you implying he brought "better" players due to it being the semi/final? or was it completely random that he "only" had 5 mls players there? because we took 9 mls players to the world cup. what are you trying to show evidence of?
You are making an argument without evidence.I don't necessarily disagree with you here, but show your work.
Right or wrong, that's been the case for the last two WCs (although we weren't outscored in 2010, I guess).
Apparently, not all the players want Greg back and weren't big fans of his ridiculous inconsistent messaging about stupid call ups. That seemed obvious all along.
Not calling you a liar or anything, but where did you hear or see this? I haven’t seen or heard anything like that.
It's in the Athletic article from yesterday. "Another source close to others in the squad said that some players felt Berhalter’s messaging about why he called some players and excluded others was inconsistent over the course of the cycle." https://theathletic.com/3986487/2022/12/09/gregg-berhalter-usmnt-contract/ Coherence and consistency in who he calls in and why is not a Gregg strength, I can't imagine anyone reasonably disagreeing with that. An issue that the lack of warm up matches exacerbated.
1) I'd like a South American manager. Must be several high-caliber ones that aren't hugely big names that would cost an arm and a leg. 2) What's the motivation for Gregg to remain should he not be fired? 3) We gotta find a way to de-attach the NT's reliance on leadership and management coming strictly from MLS. Managers with experience in other leagues or coaching other NTs would be something worthwhile to take a chance on for the next 4 years.
How is this possible? Everyone on here keeps telling me all the players love him. Also, if you would have waited 30 mins, someone would have called me a liar.
So I guess you think there should be complete agreement among the players as to who is called in. Inconceivable they'd have personal favorites too. No idea why you'd expect that. Some of the crap people pick at is ridiculous. Please show me a team where all the players are in complete agreement on who else the coach called in. Uhm, you can love your coach and disagree over some of his choices. No idea why you think you can only love someone if you completely agree with the choices they make. I guess love is conditional to you.
The reason this matters is how heavily the public case for retaining Berhalter would have to rely on the incorrect lie that he has the total faith and support of the player pool and they are pushing for him to continue. That isn't true but the federation is going to lie in our faces and force the players to lie in our faces if they decide that they are too afraid of change to do their jobs properly.
I highly doubt the federation is forcing players to lie to our faces. Most likely situation I’d bet on is Berhalter won’t be back and as time goes on we’ll continue to hear some positive and negative feedback from various players, but I’m not expecting to hear of any significant divide like was talked about last cycle.
Dude, some of your conspiracy theories are getting completely unhinged. Do you really think anyone but 1 or 2 other guys here listens to anything you say? Love how you get to decide what doing their job properly looks like.
Well that is a pretty dumb thing to say. You guessed wrong. I domt think every player has agree on the coach, but that isn't what we are talking about. I do think there is an issue when the only known support is from a bunch of dead weight that shouldn't have been there in the first place and 35 yo and the concern is from players playing at big clubs. So yeah, if the starting lineup and first few guys off the bench has an issue with him, it is a real big deal. No clue what this gibberish is about love.
Not only that, but I doubt there are many coaches that are universally loved or hated. Probably more that are universally hated I suppose, but even that is likely very rare.
Just curious. I couldn't read it without a subscription and don't plan to sign up. Did it actually name players? Did it say how many players were unhappy with him? was it just that they were unhappy with his callups/inconsistency in messaging or did it mention other aspects as well? Did it actually mention that they don't want to see him return or was that inferred?
