I will make a promise to all of you though.

IF, if we beat France, we will win the World Cup.

It would be possible but Brazil are still an incredible team and Argentina, Netherlands and Portugal are all teams which England have bad history against.

I wonder if Wan Bissaka can recover his career once he is sold by Man United as is apparently the plan for him.

I'm really not sure why Brazil are so rated, they are good yes, but I'd much rather play them than France.. France for me has the better team than Brazil.

This who would get in each team stuff is nonsense, two pretty even teams IMO with France having the standout player in Mbappe but England having more depth of options from the bench. It counts for nothing though, England don't tend to do well in these games so we need to win this to put this hoodoo against big teams to bed.

Asked if he could elaborate on the story, Southgate told talkSPORT: “Well, not really. What I’ve been shown was alleged and there was another word that was used.

“I think by commenting on the story I could be giving it any form of credibility, really. We explained why Ben left the camp and I think it’s important that that is respected, really.”

I doubt we will be seeing him play for England anytime soon.

I think Brazil are rightly among the favourites but the UK media's wank-a-thon over them is nauseating. I'm hoping Argentina go out today as well because it's the same thing with Messi.

Yep, agreed. Definitely always among the favourites but they don't have the best team for sure. I'm sick of the wank a thon over Brazil and Argentina by the English commentators, I'd like to see both knocked out.

One out of 2. Modric will be running the show on Tuesday. That little man is magnificent.

If it's the same team as Senegal I'll be happy. Seems like Southgate has finally learned the importance of a 3 man midfield. Have we ever actually played a 3 man midfield against a big nation in a KO match? I don't think we have.. 2018/20 were 3-5-2/3-4-3.. going back previously always 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 pre 2012..

There's no shame in losing if we have a go. We will have to be clinical and put in a great defensive shift

Even though they knocked us out of the WC in Russia and prevented us from getting to Euro 08 I just can’t help but like and admire Croatia. Only 3.5 million people and yet they are consistently a credit to themselves and whatever tournament they compete in. Really makes the Scots and Irish even more of a joke than they already are when you see how successful nations like that are in relation to them.

Of course I also hope they pump Argentina.

Good luck for tomorrow’s game. If England beats France, odds are you will be in good shape to lift the trophy.

I see The Sun newspaper is doing all they can to embarrass us yet again and make us a laughing stock! If we lose tonight, you can bet your bottom dollar we will be trolled with the captions they have been printing! Don’t they ever learn or is their sole aim to make us to be continuously hated. Foreigners rarely understand our humour ie: ‘It’s coming home’ so no chance they think this bill board idea is light hearted banter.

Thanks but even if we beat France we would still have an extremely tough game against either Portugal or Morocco ( Probably Portugal tbh ) and our record against Portugal isn’t great so I wouldn’t be that confident to be honest.

I can’t stand the thought of bladdy fakeRonaldo winning the World Cup ..

His ego would explode … plus he’d grab the trophy and run off down the tunnel before anyone else could get near it ..

That’s before you consider that Portugal have the three most dislikable characters in Cronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and that fecking awful Pepe !!

Apparently the translation is an own goal anyway, it means in French that England are going home from the World Cup!

He'd be on the bench so it would be humiliating for him. I can imagine him coming on in the 80th minute when they're 3-0 up, scoring a penalty and stripping down to his underpants to flex his muscles (he actually did this in the CL final once).

He wouldn’t care too much once the photos of him with the World Cup were taken. If they lose with him on the bench through that’s when the fireworks start.

This time around Southgate told everyone yesterday he knew the team from Monday so it wasn’t hard to guess that means no changes.

This is true, but earlier in the tournament it was still happening..just find it odd, I'd like to know who is the leaker.

Anyone else surprised that Southgate seems to have totally reversed from his 3-4-3 fascination or do you think he genuinely learned over summer that it was awful? I think he has listened to the general concerns of most fans about being too defensive and doesn't want that backlash if we lose. I'm surprised as he seemed so fixated on it and his comments after our poor results in it were always somehow positive.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s done this deliberately and actually does something slightly different. If the French and everyone else including us think it’s the exact same team and plan all week for that then ultimately unexpected changes at the last minute could throw a spanner in the works, highly unlikely but you never know.
