    Unfounded?

    The DoJ has requested that Trump's team be held in contempt for failing to adequately respond to the subpoena instructing them to hand over all of the documents (classified and otherwise) that Trump stole from the White House. It isn't 100% exactly who the DoJ wants to be held in contempt, but the media is saying Trump is one of them.

    Now, admittedly, the most common punishment for failure to comply contempt charges is daily fines, so we aren't going to see Trump in handcuffs, or an orange jumper, but it stacks up and is a good way to piss off a judge.

    Just trying to get a rough tally of laws needed, executive actions which need to be taken or just friggin enforcement of current laws to clean up Trump's 4 yr disaster. Add your own:

    - no colluding with foreign powers in our elections. I assume current laws exist for that (?)

    - child separation. Believe Biden signed exec. order to get them re-united.

    - no couping. Ongoing slow prosecutions of the ringleaders.

    - Electoral Account Act - needed as a result of 1/6 to tighten up how electoral votes are cast & counted.

    - Trump's SC attacks on civil liberties & precedent. Ongoing battle. Biden will sign Respect for Marriage Act soon which is a reaction to Clarence Thomas' Dobbs comments. Abortion protection I believe takes 60 votes, unless filibuster can go.

    - emoluments clause. Not enforced.

    - domestic terrorism & hate crimes. Numbers increased significantly under DT. Recent report said DOJ not doing enough to fight it.

    - environmental protection laws. Weakened under Trump.

    - fire DeJoy. I'd can Christopher Wray too.

    The “no couping” proposal should be clarified because I presume that’s only banning domestic couping by the rank amateurs. Foreign couping by the professionals is still ok, right?

    I don't think this falls under "no emoluments" since that's specifically about foreign influence on the government, but we need a general "no corruption" law that says you can't direct government resources to businesses you or your family control. For example, if your family foundation runs golf courses and hotel properties, you can't charge the secret service money to stay at your hotel while you go golfing at your golf course on taxpayer money.

    there is no way Mango should have been staying at his own properties or holding events

    that was an easy way for foreign and domestic actors to bribe him

    This will do nothing but empower him., The whole concept of convicting the Trump Organization -- yet no human in the organization will spend time in prison -- is ludicrous. That $1.6M fine is insulting.

    Trump is laughing his ass off right now. The justice system is a fvcking joke.

    The only thing that will stop Trump is a committed patriot with a sniper rifle.

    Remember…this case was only so Alvin Bragg could look like he was doing something by doing the absolute minimum.

    What it does do is establish a set of facts beyond a reasonable doubt that can and will be used in the NYAG civil suit against the trump org that is seeking a $250 million fine and the revocation of his license to do business in NY (they also sought a court order that would prohibit the trump org from transferring assets which I’m not sure was granted). That is the lawsuit that ********s him financially

    Listening to Pod Save America, there are legal reasons why he has to stay on Truth Social. Like as one of the founders of the app he's compelled to use it in order for it to grow to a certain market share.

    Jon McNaughton is the painter who does the old style oil paintings showing Trump with the founding fathers and bullshit like that. Ben Garrison is the political cartoonist who doesn't understand the meaning of the word "subtle". That image doesn't look like either of their work - not cartoony enough for Garrison, and not McNaughton's style. It looks more like a 4chan meme to me.

    So I don't want to denigrate the fine analysts at Pod Save America - do you have an episode name or something like that so I can listen in? Because it doesn't seem to me like this is any different than every other fraud this guy has done. There were legal reasons not to defraud people with Trump University, but he did it anyways. There were legal reasons not to stiff contractors on a regular basis, but he made that part of his business model when he was a property developer.

    So if he throws Truth Social under the bus, what's the worst case for him? The other owners sue him? That's like his natural habitat, and if/when he loses, it's just money, he'll send out more fundraising emails saying what a big victim he is, and pay off the plaintiffs with donor money.

    It just doesn't seem to me like this is somehow the line he won't cross. He's a grifter, he needs attention to keep bringing donations in, and he's losing "market share" (i.e. free rent in liberals' heads) to Elom Nusk. Truth Social is a loser compared to Twitter. His return to Twitter would get him back in front of the "news" cycle. Again, no disrespect to Pod Save America - if they have analyzed this and identified something, I dunno, SEC-related that stops him from going back to Twitter, that may be different, but Trump hasn't let little things like "laws" stop him before.
