Based on this photo and our club's deep history with rushing players back, we'll see Jesus in full training tomorrow.

Translates as "Time to go home". I wonder if he's going home home, or if there's any thought/ability to him returning to Qatar??

From a psychological point of view, on top of the "normal" depression of getting an injury like this when your team is TOTL and you are significantly responsible for that fact, there's also the added blow of being taken away from your national team after they just completed the biggest samba romp in recent WC memory and are poised to go all the way there.

I realize that from a medical/rehab POV it's probably better he stay home home, and under his local doctor's care, but I did have that other perspective.

Certainly if he's there he'd get a medal, as being part of the squad. If a player is dismissed to go home (for whatever reason) mid-tournament, I'm not sure what the protocol is for receiving medals in that case.

Jesus will get a medal, he made the final squad. He didn't even need to feature to qualify for a medal.

Apparently Benzema would still receive a world cup medal if France were to win the cup this year. Reasons are not specified in the few articles I read about it, other than to allude to his inclusion as a player in some official form? Vague reporting.

I find it interesting that no such honor was extended to Koscielny back in 2018. He was very open to the press about how conflicted he was by France's victory without him. Based on that, I doubt he would even accept a medal if offered. He was invited by the FFF to the final, and he did celebrate with the team, nothing crazy, just dignified smiling and all that. I'm sure he was happy for them.

Koscielny was never named in the French squad, iirc.

Koscielny missed the 2018 World Cup because he suffered his Achilles injury late in that season. He was disappointed the injury forced him to miss the Cup.

Well from what I can tell today's match is only available on Arsenal.com as PPV, starting in ~1hr.

Or if you're in Africa on something called "StarTimes", as perhttps://www.livesoccertv.com/match/4522778/arsenal-vs-olympique-lyonnais/

If anyone finds any other streams that don't seem too dodgy/risky, I suppose you could share them here??

Wow, he's going with the strongest possible XI. No fooling around, experimenting by Mikel... at least not in 1T I guess.

Sounds like we're having a good time vs Lyon. 3-0 in 2T. Goals by Big Gabi, Eddie & Fabio. Lots of youth subs after 60' by both teams

One of my favorite bands --- definitely in my top 10, maybe even top 5. But their music isn't for everyone. They really only ever had one "radio-friendly" song --- Cut Your Hair in 1994.

I was going to jokingly ask if Wowee Zowee was the one with Cut Your Hair or the one with Cut Your Hair Harness Your Hopes.

(I know it’s neither, but I like to joke that those two are the same song.)

I mean the Daily Star are full of shit, and for several reasons beyond that the story smells incredibly fishy.

But if true, it’s just more evidence that Benjamin White is a G, and also my favorite stand up comedian.

Yeah that was probably the worst panenka I’ve ever seen. And many of the PK’s were atrocious.

To see The full shoot out, AND to have consistent English commentary during the highlights I watched instead:

Sadly for much of the 90’s I was largely checked out from contemporary music*

I just listened to Cut Your Hair and Rattled by the Rush. Pretty sure I’ve never heard these guys before. The vocals on the second track had a hint of Lou Reed I thought.

*But, similar to you, one of my all-time favorite but obscure and short-lived bands (from the early 90’s) was Jellyfish. But I suspect you might have hated their ridiculously rich production.

Nah, they were ok. Not a big fan but nothing against them.
