La verdad no creo que el Leverkusen este tan interesado en Chávez. Lo del tweet fue para aser clicks creo yo pero no estaría mal que lo contratará.

This probably belongs in the unpopular pinions thread but how much does Mexico's alcoholic culture contribute to our underperformance as a national side?

From the players drinking at a level that has an impact on their physiology to the dad that will practice with his sons just a bit less for being drinking. Etc etc etc?

no creo que es para hacer clicks. Sino para bajar el precio de otros medio campistas que ellos quieren comprar o renovar.

    Wtf, are you serious?
What about all the great athletes around the world that had no father growing up, in abusive homes, etc. Unreal, how dumb can we be

Spain and Germany have pretty high alcohol consumption and the lowest consumers of alcohol suck at soccer. Carry on. :p

Doesn’t seem to affect England too much. They might be a little worse than us.

Chemical use and abuse is cultural, drinking coca leaf tea can help tremendously with altitude sickness in one country where it can land someone in prison for decades in another country, marijuana has use going back thousands of years in some parts of the world and is just recently in 2022 being looked at differently in the west. anywhere there is colonialism and a violent rupture within a countries past will carry much different implications regarding altering one’s consciousness.

Honestly, I think its not the drinking, but lack of profesionalism with some Mexican players. Even Ronaldinho went to shit from the excess. Another theory is nutrition, I love our Mexican food, but its low in protein and high in carbs. Maybe that affects the development of muscle and fast twitch fibers to an extent during growth. What I do know is that we have developed excellent players historically. It's just a matter of producing them in one generation.

It's not merely the alcohol but alcohol's interaction with the genetics and wider social, cultural, and economic conditions in a country.

Alcohol has been shown to have different effects on different populations. Native Mexican genomes have been dealing with alcohol since more recently than European ones. I don't know it's just now that I live in Mexico and I see how prevalent alcoholism is. I'm like whoa.

Very true. It’s odd to compare Germany and Mexico regarding many things so the above comparison with German athletes seemed shortsighted and reactionary. I haven’t given this topic much consideration but it’s interesting nonetheless

I think living in a border city affects your perspective. Drinking culture in Mexico that I experienced in the south was generally around weddings, baptisms, and the like. It wasn't an every day or even an every weekend. A few drinks sure, but getting drunk? Not at all. Not even in the ranches where I would say it was even less the case unless it was the yearly santo coming through.

Granted my sample size was my family and the neighborhoods where they resided. Drinking culture in the states, especially younger americans seems much more nihilistic and ingrained in the culture (makes sense because former british colony). I mean, people in the UK abuse alcohol like you wouldnt believe...shocking really. Stumbling drunk like every weekend and regular drinking throughout the week.

    Anyway.

My consumption growing up was definitely not high carb. We had a ton of cheap cuts of beef and chicken growing up. Lotsa caldos and guiso. My daughter's mom (Sinaloa) was also primary protein. Lotsa fish. But carbs outside of tortillas and beans wasn't a staple.

Which foods are you referring to when you say low in protein and high in carbs.

Nice, I was on them poverty meals lol. I remember a lot of chilaquiles for breakfast (chile fried tortilla and queso), flautas, tortas de frijol, molletes, tamales, gorditas, the ocasional menudo pozole and stew. Hard to get that 1g of protein per pound of body weight lol

They aren't sexuially repressed. They're like evangelical christians. Moscas muertas with cheating and fcuking going down all over the place. The religious aspect makes them GREAT at keeping secrets thank allah.
