Portugal will take on Morocco much differently than Spain did. Spain gives way too much time for Morocco to set up and reorganize their shape whereas Portugal will attack them with pace. Something that Old Belgium, Croatia could not do.

The problem with Spain is that even with all their possession they don't create chances and shots on target. In 120 minutes they only had one shot on target.

You're not that naive are you? "We played like we had the flu" after Alexi Lalas was talking about how some of the Swiss players had cold like symptoms. GTFO with the excuses. You just played a European elite and this is what happened. Accept defeat and move on.

Everything about that performance was ********ing fantastic.

Dalot, Pepe, Otavio, Felix were all outstanding. What a difference it made having Felix playing with more freedom and not being part of a team that solely looks to supply Ronaldo.

Bernardo and Bruno with excellent work rate and running tirelessly for the team.

Ramos with an outstanding first start, good for Leao to get a goal too.

Just all round absolutely tremendous. And while I’ve constantly asked for Ronaldo to be benched, it’s a luxury to have a player of his undoubted quality available on the bench if we need a bit of magic

Well done FS, you got the team selection absolutely spot on

And just imagine.. I watched this in a bar full of English people who were solely watching to see us lose!

This was a real statement and it feels like we’ve announced ourselves in this tournament

    Lighten up, people!

If a losing team's fan wants to post and congratulate us, let them. Be gracious winners. Have some fcking class.

There will be the day the bandwagon fans show up.. We'll need to go to a invite only forum then. It's going to happen but until then enjoy. We're the hardcore believers.

Alexi Lalas? Mate, what are you on about? You must be incredibly unhappy to react this way to someone giving your team credit AND congratulating you. What more do you want?

Honestly to hell with Ronaldo even being used as a sub. He came on today against a demoralized Swiss team that had abandoned their shape, had acres of space ahead of him and yet he still couldn't make a run unless he put himself offside. The legs just aren't there anymore.

I would have made him watch the entire game from the sidelines to make him learn his lesson, and Pepe shouldn't have given him the armband when he came on either.

That was as good as it possibly could be.

Hopefully they calm down from this high because Morocco will be much more difficult to break down. they have only conceded an own goal up to now.

Felix finally played to the hype he never deserved. He's exactly like Renato needed a few years from SLB to live to the hype. Ramos on the other hand over achieved today. Hopefully he can keep it going.

Bernardo turns lemons into lemonade. He is channeling Maniche and Rui Costa at the same time.

Pepe is the GOAT full stop.

Ronaldo needs to accept what is going on, it will make things come better for him. He doesn't have the legs but he still has tons to offer if he can get out of his own way.

All that said, the moment may have been too much for the Swiss but at least we finally took advantage of a team for that and not allowed them back in.

Unlike Messi's 5 day vacation we only have 3 days rest before the QF and a very energetic Morocco. Hopefully Santos pulls off another starting 11 and strategical master stroke.

It’s very easy to get swept away with nostalgia or just not being able to accurately compare players of older generations to the modern day, but Pepe is an absolute beast

He’s appreciated as a good defender, but outside of Portugal his antics on the field often overshadow what a fantastic player he is. He’s been world class for us, and while I really rate Ruben Dias, at the ripe old age of 39 you can still tell who the superior player is. The man is an absolute legend

    …………………………………………………..

Fernando Santos was naturally satisfied with the rout over Switzerland (6-1), but made a point of leaving cautious words.

"It was a good exhibition, a great game, the players are to be congratulated. Now we need to go down to the ground. It was great, excellent, but there are three games left and we have another one within four days," the national picker said in the flash interview to RTP.

Asked about what led him to depreter Cristiano Ronaldo in favour of Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Santos reiterated what he had already said shortly before the start of the game: "Characterities of the game, they are different players. Dalot also came in, Cancelo came out, it has to do with what I thought about the dynamics of the game. Problem? I've already answered that question. There's no problem, we've been friends for many years. Everything is completely remedied and he set an example of a true captain."

About Morocco, an opponent in the quarterfinals who has just eliminated Spain, the selector concluded: "It is not worth making any prognosis. I remember well the difficulties we had in the 2018 World Cup [1-0 win, Cristiano Ronaldo's goal, in the group stage]."

Honestly if you listen to Santos at press conferences you start to feel differently. He answers without backing down, and reveals nuance.

A continuarmos assim e conseguindo melhorar algumas coisas estamos no caminho certo.»

At RM with Mourinho he was Brutal, but Save those couple of years, he actually was not.
I have not seen older CB but since 1990 he hás to be one of the two, many would select Carvalho as the other.

Weird, I would have France at least behind Brazil even after today's game. I think Brazil and France are favorites to make the WC.

    .
It's because of the quarter final matchups. We are a much heavier favorite to beat morroco than France is to beat England. Meaning our odds of semi should be higher betting odds wise

This is true. I do have a feeling France will win. England always seem to find a way to get cuckhold in tournaments.

Eh I think people are reading a little too much into him walking off there. Dude is competitor. So he was not happy being on the bench which I bet anyone would feel the same way if they were in his shoes. He gave words of encouragement to each starting player waiting in the tunnel right before the match. Celebrated with teammates when they scored. Yeah maybe he didnt go crazy nuts but he still did. Right now this is a tough pill to swallow for him. I think he did pretty well handling the benching. He will just have to get used to it going forward.

At what time did he walk off coz he was at 1st on the pitch celebrating and congratulating shaking hands with teammates and the Swiss players and refs, the only player that did not celebrate the 1st goal who stayed sat on the bench was concelo with his hands folded
