Poor technical performance. I understand about the fatigue from the previous match, the questionable penalty leading to the second conceded goal, and giving the opposition too much respect.

But vis-a-vis with the rival players, there is overall a significant gap in footballing skills and this could possibly even take a few generations to fix, if at that, because kor's youth football development is minimal in scope, the k-league remains unpopular, and there is a severe lack of players in competitive foreign leagues.

Korea's players had 3 days of rest. Brazil's had 6 days because they were all rested vs Cameroon lmao

    We would've lost 5-2 then.

You never know had we been given 10 days to rest. As far as our team is concerned, some people went as far as to claim that we'd lose all three games and come back home, but our performance have proved them wrong. Sure we have our flaws but think about how we would've fared with a full tank, we were basically running on fumes and still managed to fight well till the end.

We need to be real with ourselves. Today was an absolute tactical disasterclass that could've ended in a 7-0 horror show if Brazil wanted it to.

Additional days of rest wouldn't have changed the fact that our fullbacks were playing the exact same way against Neymar and Vinicius Jr as they did against AFC opposition.

This debacle was nothing new. And I agree that it could have ended with a lot more conceded goals. This isn't the fault of the coach either.

The only way the team can improve from here is to ban player participation in the national team if they are not playing in a decent European or South American league. Currently just too much players without good experience and ability. If genetics, on a national level, are involved, then, well, I don't know what more could be done.

KFA needs to invest in chicken and protein supplements to beef up the fullbacks. Not only do they look like schoolchildren, they get bullied like feathers.

KJS literally is at fault for all of the goals conceded. They literally bullied the kid in front of billions of spectators.

Forget Son, Kangin, etc... Korea needs to invest their energy in developing proper defenders. Kim Minjae is the start, but that clearly isn't enough. Has Korea ever had any proper defenders competing in Europe? (Apart from Lee Youngpyo)

Song chonggug had a spell in Feyenoord but that didn't pan out so well IIRC...

I am glad Bento is exposed. It was annoying that some people thought he was great. He did not start Lee KI because he wanted to vamp up the defense. Such a foolish idea. Paik's goal is an indirect result of Lee. The outcome would have been the same but if Lee started it could have been 4-2. Then again Korea were unlucky. But it would have been difficult to beat Brazil even if they had been lucky.

It is funny that many Koreans credit Bento for football philosophy, which they confuse with obstinacy. We don't need managers with "philosophy". Man, they are just jocks. I don't consider the Japanese manager Moriyasu or whatever to be a great manager but he is closer to an ideal manager. He has no philosophy. He professes no deep understanding of the game, has no knowledge of the "beauty" of the game or that kind of mumbo jumbo. He experiments with new tactics. He comically fails while doing it. But we need someone like him, just smarter and with more common sense, more grounded and without 명장병.

Korea's manager should be someone who is shrewd, practical and flexible. We don't need football geniuses. I don't even think there is such a thing in the first place. Domestic managers are fine. He just should not be Hwang Sunhong.

Cha Doori became a full back because he could not find an employment as an attacker. He was a fairly decent full back. Perhaps not as good as a "real" full back but it worked fine.
Um Wonsan, Lee Dongjun, Lee Donggyeong, some of these guys need to be converted to full backs. They all want to be the next Son HM but they should compromise with the reality.

Sure. But as Doramon pointed out, tactical errors were the main issue. Also, we had exactly the same defensive errors in the group stage matches. All 3 of them. They just didn't make the chances count unlike Brazil. Thanks to Uruguay for hitting the post twice + Ronaldo for becoming our 12th player.

If you ask me if we defended well in the group stage matches, I can't say yes tbh.

If our players had a full tank AND if we parked the bus + played aggressively like Japan did during the friendly, we might have had a chance. But I still doubt our defenders are capable of doing so.

One thing I notice is that players like LKI and LSW who grew up in Europe are not afraid to say their goal is to win the tournament unlike most players who only aim for the round of 16.. This kind of ambition will make us stronger.. Also, he does not make any excuses and admits that lack of rest wasn't the issue..

    He's our future.. 잘커라 제발..

Except Japanese football fans are sick of Moriyasu and his starting XI's / failures with penalties. Need to aspire high. I'm sure there's some experienced manager who wants to take the job given the dozens of high level managers without a job right now (especially following the finish of the World Cup). I don't want some K League domestic manager or some third rate European either.

chaduri and LYP are the only ones that come in mind. Why can't Korea develop good CBs and CDMs? Too many 172cm wingers.

Because idiotic coaches + parents want their kids to score to win. No one wants to be defenders/GK.

I never said he was a good manager. He is a fool with 명장병. I said our manager should be like him in the sense of experimenting with new tactics and being flexible. Another 4 years of Bento would have been such a disaster. I am glad he is gone.

I’ll return the compliment by saying I wish we had Son Heung-min. Our right winger slot is not ideal. A two-footed, pacey, heroic winger who defends without complaints- and Croatia would win the WC guaranteed.
I so hope Korea cone to play a friendly with Croatia before Sonny retires. I’d like to have his autograph.

Yes. He could take one side, but add Son on the other, and it’d be even better.

It was a tactical failure. Going toe to toe with Brazil left us very exposed at the back which Brazil of course had the firepower to exploit. Even when we went a goal down we should have played catenaccio and made it harder for Brazil to break down the defence. Instead, we commit to a full attack lose the ball (or try to play out slowly from the back/GK and lose the ball), Brazil surges/intercepts and lack of numbers at the back meant we had to defend 1 on 1.

Goodbye Bento. I prefer pragmatic football when we are playing top tier teams. I prefer Conte/Mourinho football. Heck I even prefer Sam Allaryce long ball where we at least have a chance to keep the score low and maybe nick it or get it to PKs.

Actually what i want is a manager who can play at least two different styles, plan A against teams weaker/equal to us and plan B against teams who are better than us (let alone against the best Brazil team in 20 years).

Why Bento could not do this, I cannot comprehend.
