What's funny is when I hear local broadcasts of Crew games on ESPN Plus over half the commentators have obvious British accents. It's not hard Fox there are lots of Brits who know what they are talking about hire them.
There are 10 times as many who are absolutely full of shit. Being beguiled by an accent is such an American college girl thing
Hard-hitting, English-accented stereoty...err...analysis just now: "Big Western team is all about the individual. <insert random quote from one player to support the conclusion already drawn>" "Plucky Zen Buddhist Eastern team is the exact opposite! They are all about the collective, don't you know! <insert quote from coach to support the conculsion already drawn>"
It's been since they won the contract back from NBC, because it's 100% Sky from FP1 on Friday through the race on Sunday. Except for Nicole Briscoe introducing the coverage on behalf of Mother's Polish.
So here's my complete article https://stamps.org/news/c/collectin...e-of-bern-west-germany-and-the-1954-world-cup
Thank you for sharing this. I have done quite a bit with my World History students and the World Cup the last few weeks, and this fits in quite well. The source links are great also.
Considering Morocco just knocked out Spain, I'd say we're definitely in the "anything can happen" phase of the tournament. Netherlands-Argentina winner vs Croatia-Brazil winner England-France winner vs Morocco-Portugual/Switzerland winner I have no idea who I'd pick.
Yes, most kids still play for fun, at least at the youngest ages. Girls, for the most part, want to play with their friends. Parents, coaches, clubs, all seem to talk about college though. Many coaches and clubs will give good lip service to player development, but don't really make it a priority (but many do make it the priority as well). I am losing a girl on my team because she's worried about making her HS team next year and thinks a different team will give her a better chance. Now she's not even thinking scholarship. I don't think most players are either. But you're local ECNL club will certainly point out the percentage of D1 scholar athletes that come from ECNL clubs when recruiting elementary and middle school kids. What i've found is this is true across the board. Almost all sports have become year round club commitments. And if you're going to a school that's competitive in a particular sport, then, yes, you probably need to play club for a number of years before you get there. I think soccer is probably the only one where club trumps middle school so far (i.e. I think if you play club baseball or club basketball, you still play for your middle school team - you don't play middle school soccer, and increasingly the best are playing club over HS anymore too, depending one what area you are in). I think it's a number of factors, some of it is parents pushing their kids to be the best and play for the best teams. One of my daughters teammates didn't go to a club because they didn't want to allow her to play another sport (and that was for the B team). In my case, my daughter refuses to try other sports. I got her to try lacrosse one year. She liked it for about half a season, then decided she was done with it. She refuses to try pretty much everything else. I've had to force her to go to a couple rec type camps to introduce to other sports, but she just doesn't want to. Now, a lot of the girls I coach at younger ages do also play basketball, at varying levels, some play competitive some play rec.
Switzerland’s defense was like…. Wait for it…. Wait for it…. SWISS CHEESE!! Ok, I’ll see myself out….
It seems the idea of "Groups of 3" will be scrapped. "The other proposed format is to split the tournament into two 24-team mini tournaments, with 6 groups of 4 teams in each mini tournament to create a knockout stage of 16. The winner of each mini tournament would meet in the World Cup final." https://www.starsandstripesfc.com/p...-format-change-groups-usa-usmnt-mexico-canada
I have zero idea who wins this competition ! Any out of the last 8 other than Croatia I’d say … Holland and Morocco are real dark horses as well . The other five all have an equal chance .. guess it’s gonna come down to a bit of luck judging by Spain hitting the post with the last kick of extra time .. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
