I'm Croatian, but I would rather see option 3 than 2. Anything is better than 2.

I know about the horrible history of Korean occupation by Japan, but 5-0 loss is undeserving. Koreans have teamwork, unlike selfish Brazilians.

The question was posed from a hindsight 20/20 perspective ....therefore it would be illogical to compare it with the Portugal win

And for the record, A win over Brazil will always seem more flikey than a ein over Portugal Theyre teo different pedigree to me.

Haniljeon in the QF would be bonkers.

Remember when Kim Yuna competed with the Japanese skater for gold in Vancouver 2010? Both countries essentially came to a halt to watch them skate. When Kim Yuna eventually lifted gold, it was really a whirlwind of emotions from feeling jubilation, elation, and relief...

The burden and expectation placed on Kim Yuna was insane. If the stars align and we get to face Japan in the QF, it's honestly going to be one of the tensest WC matches.

    Yeah, I think it'll be a 2-0, 3-0, 3-1, 4-1, loss OR a 1-0 win OR penalty win.

Brazil hasn't conceded more than one goal in their last 51/53 games. Twice when they conceded two goals, it was a 2-2 draw against Colombia and 4-2 win vs Peru. Of course this isn't the only way to look at it, but Brazil's defense is as solid as their offense. I just don't see us scoring multiple goals against them.

I don't expect Korea to win this one, but stranger things have happened.

What I find satisfying about Korea's WC so far is that you can make a reasonable case Korea outplayed all three of its opponents in the group stage, even if Portugal rested some key players. How many times has that happened? Maybe once, in 2002, on our home turf?

Again, Korea likely goes home on Monday. But, for me, it's been a good WC regardless. And Bento has been a good, not great manager. While I can't complain about any of his tactics, my primary complaint is that he took way too long to figure this Korea team out. Anybody who follows Korean soccer knows LKI needed to be integrated, but Bento neglected him for almost an entire year and only just figured out how to utilize him in the WC. So yes, Bento has been good, and, this has been a good WC, but Korea has real talent and a competent manager would have figured it out earlier.

Finally, I pray Korea and Japan play each other in the final 8, even if Korea loses. It would focus the entire world on Asian football and highlight how much quality exists on both teams. The only real drawback would be if we were blown away by Japan, but that ain't happening. A close game would only increase the value of the rivalry.

I'm usually terrible at predictions but my gut feeling tells me we'll get another late drama win like we did vs Portugal, either 1-0 or 2-1.

In all honesty though, regardless of the outcome I just want our team to fight tooth and nail like they did in all three group matches.

Wow man, maybe you are not the guy I thought you were.
I prefer Croatia to win over Japan. If Japan beat Croatia, I will not root for Korea vs Brazil as much because Brazil have a better chance of beating Japan. The possibility of Japan beating Korea and reaching the semifinal ... that is the end of the world for most Koreans.

Jesus was the one who destroyed us during the friendly even though he got subbed in. Our defenders literally didnt know how to stop him. So I am VERY happy he won't be playing against us.

Serbia. Maybe a slight one with Italy, but we always beat them in football. Since we are a footballing power, we've had many clashes with Spain. But the country with whom we have the worst historical relations is Serbia.

Serbia's role in our history is roughly comparable to Japan's role in Korea's history, with one major difference: they've used the fact that Croatian and Serbian languages are similar to influence naive Croats into thinking Serbs are their brothers. Artificially, the two languages were made even closer, and now, many people in Serbia and even Croatia think Croatian language is the same as Serbian, ignoring historical trends and vocabulary differences. And from there, Serbs will claim Croats don't exist as a people.

Let's just say I'd gladly have the land mass of Croatia ripped out of Europe and moved next to Korea.

I feel like we don’t have good penalty takers …

My confidence in Pk takers ranked based on gut feeling:
    1) LKI
    2) KYG
    3) SHM
    4) HIB
    5) CGS
    6) HHC
    7) Big JWY
    8) HUJ

IMO Ki SY and Koo JC would automatically be our most reliable PK takers… Didn’t Son choke a few times and ask to be moved off penalty duty?

Yes. They had plans of doing that in Croatia too.

I don't know how loud Japanese ultranationalists are, or are they openly itching to recreate the brutal conditions under the military dictatorship that ruled Korea and other places with an iron fist, but Serbian nationalists are as bitter as quinine, claiming "the West conspired against Serbs". They gladly would do a round 2 with us if they had the money to fund an army. They have an ego the size of Ronaldo/Neymar, but applied to the whole nation, with murderous tendencies.

Yes. Ratko Mladic and Arkan, two of Serbia's notorious war criminals known for committing numerous war crimes and genocide particularly aimed at muslim Bosnians. Arkan in particular would raise tigers and feed the people to it including children. At least Arkan is dead (Assassinated), but that POS Ratko is alive rotting in prison.

My tip for SHM would be: shoot down the middle- most goalkeepers won't expect it. Practicing penalties isn't even complicated, unlike tactical training. Modern data analysis is of great help, as goalkeepers will be provided with data on how players take penalties.

Fun fact: The father of the Japanese skater was Korean so by Korean tradition Asada Mao is Korean as well.

Koreans fantasize about moving away from Chinese and Japanese.
I know you hate to hear this but most linguists consider the difference between Serbian and Croatian to be dialectical.
In Korea Cholla and Kyongsang have intense hatred of each other. The latter actually prefer Japanese over the former. But they keep it secret because if other Koreans find it out they will be furious. The rivalry is mostly civil; I never heard of physical violence except among school children and teenagers.

During the Bosnian war American media quipped, "Serbians are KKK with tanks".

In the 18th and 19th century, the difference between Croatian and Serbian was far greater than today. My first teacher of Korean took interest in Croatia because she thought the relationship between Croatia and Serbia was similar to that of South and North Korea. She learned otherwise, but kept her love of my country.

Regarding Korean fantasies: well, Croatia has a lot of empty space. Unused farmland, variable climate...it's just that we Croats are...a bit chaotic, although not violent by nature. I wish some 100.000 Koreans could move in and teach us how to be better people. I truly do.
