LVG openly mocking our coach, hope his sycophants see how much of a laughing stock he is.

His firing/resignation should be announced as soon as the plane hits back in US territory, getting out of the Group stage allowed us to not leave him in Qatar

That comment was a bit over the top but… Jones’ had a mentality that was truly amazing. He single-handedly pulled the team through for a win vs Ghana in 2014. He was a beast.

There is something he had that our current (studs) mid field haven’t matched onto yet.

Bruce Arena told us why Landycakes was cut and you can make up any revisionist nonsense you want, it won't change the facts.

The US has moved on from big fishes in tiny ponds as we level up in world soccer.

ps.: very small consolation, the ref was on point; He let the game play and didn't let NED even think of trying any time wasting tactics. He didn't stop a promising US counter when NED 22 was down. That is all it took for NED stop time wasting tactics agains a Brazilian ref lol; He has seen it all and wouldn't be fool by amateurs... FIFA is not out to get you ;)

It's not clear that they are joining nations league since the C'bol countries voted to petition FIFA to keep the round robin format for WCQ... since UEFA might further entwine WCQ with NL (TBD at an event at the end of January), this would make C'bol's participation in NL a little more difficult and complex.

For now, the only thing we actually know is that the winner of the Euros will play the winner of the Copa moving forward.

There are plenty of things to be mad about WRT the 2014 roster selection, but I will go to my grave firmly believing that we would've advanced if JK hadn't benched Beckerman vs Belgium. Kyle had a really good 2014 World Cup.

Beckerman was in the form of his life and playing well beyond himself. I still can't believe JK didn't see it.

Oh, I've never been worried about FIFA's relationship to the US.

It's CONCACAF that's out to get us ;)

This team can't hold a candle to the 2002 team. They came out of the gate and attacked and got results. Maybe they were not as technically gifted, but they were more aggressive and hard working. Tough to win games when you are happy just passing the ball for half the game! First half of the game was shameful and that can be hung on the coaching.

4 games in 13 days is insane.

I think Berhalter failed miserably to account for that reality.

Also, it was extremely odd that so many of the USMNT players could only go 60 minutes or so etc.....

you have to expect that the youuth works in your favor for stamina....

but the players were simply exhausted today and it was obvious in previous games as well in the second half.

I really didnt expect that...and berhalter seemed to go with the Jurgen Klinsmman approach to short bench and small rotation this tourney as a result....which cost the team big time.

That Dutch D, combined with the precision of the counter, was a very bad match-up for the the US, especially this late in the tournament. They made a few mistakes - and had we been able to smash-and grab one or two of those, maybe it's a game, but the Dutch counter was so calm and efficient it would have taken a lot for our tired legs to beat them, no matter who was coaching.

we was decent. my gripe is how he let the netherlands obvious strategy of hacki ng the hell out of pulisic go relatively unpunished

you gotta remember that lvg woulda had the usmnt for the last 4 years and the problems you associate with this team now under berhalter likely wouldnt be the same issues....

LvG beats the dutch with the USMNT against Berhalter 90% of the time, imo

Generally speaking, when it comes to strength and endurance, you peak around 25-30. Younger people can recover quicker, but there's a reason the best marathoners do their best work around age 30...

It's dickish, but someone needs to ask Adams about the 1st goal. He challenges Memphis above the half way line, but loses out. He's right there with him, and then just jogs the whole way down the field. Memphis wasn't even really running hard. Really uncharacteristic from Adams there.

Had a goal and an assist in WC2014. That's contributing from central midfield.

High pressure with an unrotated squad against a team that was not even trying to possess was always the wrong decision.

Indeed. What were we supposed to do, NOT lean on our midfield? Ignore our biggest strength as a team and sit back in a low block and counter with guys who are mediocre on the counter? At least we went out to a good side playing our football to the relative best that they could with the legs they had left.

And on that note, I'd like to thank Berhalter for giving us a side that believed in one another, and look to hire his successor who can take this tight-knit group and get the most out of them tactically for the next four years while maintaining the right balance between continual competition for places with culture and cohesion.

The US should have put pressure on the midfield, not stand this deep.

Also, those two central defenders are a joke. Get a modern coach, find/train two defenders that can actually play soccer and some mediocre striker that can hold the ball, and 2026 is gonna be awesome

I mean, ok, if we want to do this like it's real, it's quite likely that Beerholder looses the Dutch lockerroom inside a week - in fact, it's unfathomable that the Oranje let him coach for 4 years, but as far as manpower, experience and skill and cohesion, this Dutch team is very good. They have not been troubled much this tourney and a clicking exceptionally well. I doubt even Beerholder could screw that up in the short term. But if your point is van Gaal is a better coach - yes. No argument from me. One of van Gaal's strength is he seems to have a very unified Oranje side, which is not always a given.

what about the centerbacks??/ why is everyone crashing the net and leaving trailers unmarked despite a numerical advantage...the centerbacks were poor vs ned.
