Cute to feign stupidity but since you asked, you’re the only one who doesn’t imagine that playing friendlies in the United States against the same teams isn’t detrimental to growth. Is that clear enough?
I don't think friendlies make a difference... They're not top level competitive games where players play to their maximum intensity nor ability... I believe it's a scapegoat to use as an excuse to mask the true problem which is player quality... I mean Mexico lost to the Nads in the rd of 16 in 2002...what's their excuse?
I saw Mexico outplay and have the lead against the 3rd Place team in the 2014 World Cup without it's star La Liga player who would have made the difference imo together with Gio.. Meanwhile the 2002 team lost against the Nads... All to prove to me Friendlies are not all that influential...
I don't disagree with you, I think the problem with friendlies is that sometimes players are better served consolidating or fighting for their spot in their club teams than to call them in to play a crappy friendly in the states because fans need to see the stars. Eh... I wouldn't go as far as to say its a talent thing. This Mexico is similar to the 2006 Mexico squad in the sense that it was the end of the road for one generation and the other generation had not yet established itself enough to take the reigns. It even had the added bonus of a star player feuding with the coach and getting left off, similar to this version having the drama with Cheech and Vela. Finally regarding 2002... unfortunately a blatant handball in the box that was missed by dumbass blind ref and our idiot coach taking out Ramoncito before the half doomed us.
Not that I disagree with you, but wondering how playing an apertura in Liga MX would would limit the competition to MLS? Do you mean that they are so similar that its basically the same thing?
I don't think quality is the problem at all, we have players who consistently succeed in leagues all over the world when given the chance. . To me it seems to be a combination of 3 things. 1. A lack of development due to the national belief that we're superior to, at the very minimum, the countries in our region and most of S. America and the world. 2. Experience (partly because we play moleros against minnows instead of top teams). 3 Coaching. I can't think of 1 great coach aside from Lapuente. The rest have poor call ups, a grudge against a certain player (La Volpe?), or are primarily motivators (Miguel Herrera).
That is actually not true and I think your mixing up issues. Popularity does not equate “good” or “skillful”. Mexico has fútbol talent. Sure Mexico could incorporate other things into our fútbol that would help keep up with “modern fútbol”, no one would argue that. What Mexico does not have a system in place to foster that talent. The business model in Mexico is so fkd up - from compadrismos, hijos de papi etc that prevents young talent from developing.
To be honest I do think playing all over the world instead of moleros would benefit, but moleros are NOT the main problem. Our main problems are player development (young talents not getting a chance) and that we don’t have enough players in the best leagues in the world, we need to export more, have them used to adversity and world class competition in a daily basis not only on fecha fifas. Our players are too comfortable playing in Mexico and never face adversity. Playing one or two friendly games every 6 months against top opponents will certainly help but will not take us to the next level
It is a talent issue when I see Mexican players having the same issues...We like to think our players are technically gifted but they can't dribble for shit nor know how to cross to save their lives.. It's just horrific watching us in tight spaces or on the wings...This is a technical flaw that will not be fixed by some piece of crap friendlies...Nah this is a coaching issue... Anyhow ot see lot's of people scapegoating this Generation without taking into account the devastating injuries that happened... Losing a Top 10 premier league striker and a former Portuguese player of the year who was doing well in La Liga is essentially each generation losing two of their top 4 players each cycle... No cycle is doing great with those injuries...
Not true based on what? The top teams that win consistently have one thing in common...Players playing in good European teams or definitely a strong Spine like Chile with the Premier League player of the year (Alexis) Mexico does not have either...Our players are not great dribblers, nor great crossers of the ball, nor playerrs who make great runs... It's quite pitiful to see but it's just factual...I saw one of the worst crosses in my life from btch ass Alvarado that led to Argentina's second goal and this is one of Mexico's best young wingers... Alvarado!!!!! That's crazy...Mexico has a 140 Million popular mind you...140 million...
People need to stop acting like Raul would have done anything even if he was healthy. He's a fantastic club player but that's it. Tecatito is great but he can't do it himself, especially with this team.
He would've been better than Martin... He was better at everything plus 4 or 5 inches taller with superior athleticism and football IQ.... They never got significant time together neither to glue together...And by they I mean Lozano, Raul and Corona...I personally think they make the difference together against both Poland and Saudi Arabia... With also keeping into account this puts a fresh Alexis, Martin on the bench as shock subs... Making us even stronger overall as no Alvarado sees the field...
Exactly. Given what we know, it's not hard to imagine a healthy and in form Corona and Jimenez making a difference in the group stages. Its not an excuse because all teams go through injuries and have to play with what they have. If anything this shows our lack of depth, but then again it can be argued that our coach shot himself in the foot by vetoing players as.
Agree to disagree with Raul since he had 3 cycles and 3 coaches. Not 1 thought he was good enough to start in the World Cup. All those goals he scored are against minnows. So no, I don't agree that he would have made a difference since he has shown that he never does. Now Corona is entirely different. His tenacity and offensive prowess is something we sorely missed, especially that creativity. Could have used that against Poland but it is what it is. As for a lack of depth, I'm in the belief that it's a bit of both. Depth we have, coach bias and federation shenanigans prevent that depth from being showcased.
Uruguay hired Bielsa as their coach. Basically up to Almada if he wants the job now. Would be very pleased with him. Think his style of play is very exciting, fast and fun. Don’t see any Mexican coach that I would bring right now at least
Didn’t realize the guy coached an Ecuadorian team to the semis of the libertadores. I welcome a non-argentine coach
Honestly would prefer a Mexican/local coach. The last few foreign coach have had zero accountability. Sven Osorio
Would prefer a Mexican/local coach honestly. The last few foreign coaches have had zero accountability. Sven Osorio Tata Sven gave zero f*cks, Osorio kept blaming lack of Euro based players, and Tata phoned it in. Only foreign coaches with significant pedigree or proven international experience should be considered. I am talking about Scolari, Gus Hiddink, Ancelotti, etc. I know many of these are "pie in the sky" choices but the alternatives aren't really that impressive. The jump in quality from a local coach to guys like Almada is small imo. Herrera & Vasco did not leave because of performance reasons. They should be considered or at least given a chance to show interest/commitment. Edit: had to post twice because phone auto-posted first response
