The didn't sleep. They were undone by a Cameroon kid. Shame it was.

Ghana was the big disappointment of African nations at this world cup. Glad we have seen the last of the Ayew brothers. Home we keep the coaching team but who knows if the money is there.

What about a professional foul -- taking a card for your team by fouling someone to stop a break? Would you "get beaten for doing that"?

Oh, they do foul a lot. Ghana has the second most fouls of any team, after Saudi Arabia.

I watched Suarez' play live, and my reaction even before Ghana took the PK was "that was probably smart". Yes, it was an intentional infraction of the LotG. So is every professional foul ever committed -- including (and especially relevant) those which are called for DOGSO outside the box.

This isn't peculiar to soccer, either. In basketball, for example, players routinely commit fouls to stop the clock, or because they think a player is less likely to score from the free throw line than they were if not fouled. Ice hockey also frequently sees penalties committed to stop a rush or to answer a dirty play from the other team. Infractions of the rules of a sport are examples of calculated risk, whereby someone estimates that the consequences of being penalized for that infraction are likely to be less severe than the consequences of not committing the infraction. Suarez made a bet, and the bet worked out for him. If it hadn't -- if Ghana had scored on the PK, and Uruguay were behind and down a man and had a lot less time to work with -- we wouldn't still be having conversations like this.

A professional foul is one thing, playing goalie is another.

Yeah nah. This isn't what is taught to kids in youth camps. I simply go by that rule. Taking a professional foul is taught. All those things you listed are taught by coaches in sport. There is a reason it is not taught.

If the only things one ever did were the things taught in youth camps, one wouldn't be much of a player.

It’s like I predicted after the first couple of games .. the refs are letting too much go .
The cynical players know they can whack a few even injure them ( Neymar now Jesus ) without even getting a warning !!

Two of the world’s best forwards are now effectively out of the WC .

Also Messi and Mitrovic , Foden , Kane plus tigers are all carrying ankle / foot injuries.

Only the British are seemingly able to call players from other countries soft for not being physical and then thugs for being physical. If you want to see real thugs you should look at many of your fans who travels to international competitions.

And when you teach the laws of the game, do you teach that? Have you seen young players taught that.

The presence of Jurgen Klinsmann on the BBC coverage has me convinced there is no God and when we die there is only nothingness.

This’ll make the Sam’s Army happy boys and girls.

AL RAYYAN, Qatar – Louis van Gaal said his Netherlands squad has been hit with a "worrying" influenza outbreak ahead of its World Cup round of 16 clash against the United States

I get that my Ghanaian brothers are still aggravated by Suarez handball. Having said that, I am absolutely positive, Asamoah Gyan would have done the same in similar circumstances. ;)
