Jesus Ferreira hasn't played a competitive match since Oct. 23. He hasn't scored a goal since Sept. 11, a stretch of 7 games for club and country. Today, he's up against Virgil Van Dijk, Nathan Ake and Jurrien Timber in a knockout match at the World Cup. Jesus Ferreira hasn't played a competitive match since Oct. 23. Youngest USMNT lineup ever in a knockout game, which seems like it was inevitable... The theme of "youngest ever" for the #USMNT continues at this World Cup.Today: the youngest USMNT lineup ever in a knockout game. pic.twitter.com/r8fuyFTvFY— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) December 3, 2022 Per U.S. Soccer: Yunus Musah (20 years, four days) is the youngest USMNT player to start a World Cup knockout match. He bests Landon Donovan (20 years, 107 days) in Round of 16 match against Mexico on June 17, 2002. yeah, I think it is acknowledged as on of the worst, dirtiest fouls in World Cup history. Only other one I can think of is Nigel deJong’s flying king fu kick on Xabi Alonso in 2010
Nice to see Donovan in the studio. Someone has to scoff at the nonsense Lalas spouts. That was missing with Edu relegated to late night hosting duties.
What striker could prove they’re the one the way Berhalter brings them in and subsequently drops them? Berhalter makes a huge deal out of chemistry/fit but that has never applied to the striker position. Why? No idea. But considering our issues scoring goals I think it’s fair to question.
Or play a 4-4-2 again with Puli and Weah up top, Musah and Reyna bracketing Adams and McKennie. For whatever reason, Berhalter just does not want to start Gio. I thought this would be the game to do it. But here we are. Let's hope Ferreira has his shooting boots on.
I’m convinced that Greg has pre-decided all subs situationally. Acosta as a deep midfielder if we are holding a score Yedlin for Dest (didn’t work changed it to Moore) Aaronson for midfield or wide attackers if we are holding a score. Reyna wide attacker needing a goal. etc not saying this he is right just saying the Reyna situation didn’t happen.
Greg doesn’t surprise me at this point. Let’s just beat the Netherlands. I predict 1-0 US win. Good luck to the boys.
That (bolted part) would not be smart. Planning = good. But you cannot foresee every important dimension of a contest. No plan survives first contact with the adversary. Good coaches can adaptability to unforeseen changes. As for Reyna, everyone now realizes that he is becoming an elite chance creator playing at AM. That is his future and it has been evident for a while now.
its a fascinating chemistry- lalas is dumb and fake, clint thinks lalas is as dumb and fake as well do, donovan really tries to find the true parts in the nonsense, clint treats landon like a little nerd.
I liked his kinda-sorta reference to Peter Crouch's response to the question "What would you be if you weren't a footballer?" A: "A virgin."
Walkouts. Time to move to the PBP thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/u...ds-12-02-10am-et.2123764/page-3#post-41010601
