I think not settling on a striker during this cycle and this World Cup says as much about Berhalter as it does the state of our striker pool. He’s made a pretty big mistake not picking one guy who fits the system the best and giving him the chance to find his feet at this tournament.

General consensus seemed to be that Wright didn’t show well last time and Sargent is out injured. What other forward you have?

For those looking for Weah as a forward I guess this shows what Gregg thinks of that option!!

I have to admit I am unfamiliar with Ferriera's body of work. (Not that it matters on BS). But this generally worries me, and I have this lingering idea that Weah could slide up top and Reyna out right.

TBF, I thought Sarge was looking more effective last match than either Jesus or Pepi have in that role. But maybe that’s your point—that Sarge got the opportunity to find his feet?

I feel similarly about Gio. He should have gotten that opportunity too.Providing it would have helped the team more than it hurt IMO.

I always liked how Datolo played but that team had a lot of talent so that wasn’t necessary

Which striker consistently proved he was the one? No one. Still should have brought 4. I would have started Pepi over Jesus.

Better than starting Haji but poor planning to never try out Weah at Striker. I don't want to Acosta at the 8 as a sub.

Of our forwards Jesus matches best against Virgil. It the soccer equivalent of the indirect approach. Useful in war and chess. And soccer.

Good thing Gregg left Ricardo Pepi back in the Netherlands, knowing they were always our most likely round of sixteen opponent

I think Reyna’s exclusion is principally down to the notion that Berhalter doesn’t see a starting spot for him. Berhalter has been very clear that the 9’s are the 9’s, and has shown with the majority of his subs it is positionally like-for-like. Reyna isn’t replacing Pulisic as a starter, so the only spot potentially open is Weah’s. How many want Tim Weah replaced? I don’t. Reyna will probably see some minutes today if only given it’s the 4th game and the prospect of extra time increases the odds we’ll need fresh legs.

So did Gregg have his "come to Jesus" moment?

Leaving Pepi off was a major blunder.

of course it was leonardo, bebetos poofy 90s hair popped into my head and mentally blocked me...

and i dont care what leonardo did afterwards, tab was dancing on their midfield and he intentionally took him out. it was one of the dirtier shots ive seen in my life.
