Another good idea would be to follow the Qatar blueprint and ‘shadow’ participate in Conmebol qualification as Qatar did in Europe

That is a really good idea.

I think that during a normal WC cycle partidos moleros are useless, maybe this upcoming cycle with no hex, it might be somewhat useful just to get playing time for some of our guys. I think if used correctly they can be good proving grounds for future consideration.

One of the dilemmas we will have is that there are 3 host countries next WC, and you better believe that if we shadow a WCQ of a certain zone the nads and canadians will surely follow. With that in mind the ideal situation would be to shadow UEFA like Qatar did as they have enough groups of 5 that would be able to accommodate all three nations.

    The 2026 squad is there
    20221202_095909.jpg

Plus we have to realize losing a Top 10 premier league striker and a former Portuguese player of the year who was doing well in Spain..

Is something Mexico cannot fully recover from..
    Those were devastating injuries...

And yet we still led the Hex and got 4 points in a group with a World Cup favorite...

    That's pretty good imo

Getting rid of directivos is not going to happen.
Getting rid of partidos moleros is not going to happen.
Less MLS association is not going to happen. It actually benefits all countries in the region to grow the league.
Bringing back promotion and relegation........possibly. Although no changes to it can be made until 2025.

    What *could* happen.
    • Less extranjeros. Kind of what the UK did. There's a certain cap on how many players can be foreign and how many need to be homegrown.
    • A League wide focus on academies for each team.
    • Participation in Copa America

I think they operate similarly, TBH.

The one thing that the Mexican Fútbol has that no other fútbol Federación has is right across the border: an economic “superpower” in the USA with 60-90 million Mexican/Mexican-Americans (possibly even more since people stop “claiming”) in it.

Que genialidad de US Soccer. They will get a popular Mexican player(s), put them on an MLS team/city with a heavy Mexican/Mexican-American fan base and the shirts/jerseys fly off the counter. Es una genialidad TBH. However, it sucks when anything MLS is incorporated into Mexican fútbol. The most recent example is Tata: an MLS championship coach who was literally a waste of money for the Mexican National team. Hector Herrera is a DP in Houston but was absolutely horrible on the NT. Although younger, Julian Araujo and Efrain Alvarez - their style is quite noticeably different on the Mexican National team. Pizzaro when he was at Miami - although it was not only at Miami but more noticeable when he was in the MLS. These MLS tournaments are dragging Mexican fútbol down the drain. Etcétera etcétera etc…Nothing MLS is good for Mexican fútbol- it’s not meant to be a dig (small one) but it’s straight objective and measurable data.

However, it’s not like US Soccer isn’t paying for all those SUM and Leagues Cup matches. That is on the Mexican fútbol owners and the FMF. It clearly benefits their pockets but does nothing for Mexican fútbol. Make of it what you will.

I'm not sure I agree because even with them we played like crap. Having them on the team would have had little effect. As good as Jimenez was with Wolves he has been so-so on the National team. Blame it on the coach or tactics but he never stood out like other players.

No one is going to leave millions upon millions of Pocho money on the table...You guys neither...So let's be realistic and understand what are the best possible moves..

To me it's a cap on foreigners and investment into the academies instead of these over priced foreigners...

We don't need foreign money...The LigaMX has good viewership in the most powerful country on earth and has a ton of people supporting in mainland Mexico...

Keep all of that money in our pockets and build ourselves

That would be good too, but have a feeling conmebol teams would approach the with the same intensity as an actual qualifier whereas the uefa teams wouldn’t give a shit

Chucky, Corona and RJ didn't really have time to develop together but we did beat Japan and Korea...Plus Raul nails that Pen Guardado missed against the Nads if he never got injured...

Never mind doing something in the game in itself..

To also be fair and objective, US Soccer and SUM are actually the good guys in the region from a non Mexican fútbol perspective. Not only can MLS teams now compete with Liga MX, now Central American teams, Caribbean teams that play in the MLS can compete with Mexican teams (league and national teams). Dominican Republic was in a final, Guatemala nos eliminó, etcétera etcétera all at minimal, if any, cost to them. They pay Mexico for its fútbol, plain and simple. It’s not like they are “getting something for nothing”. Mexican fútbol (National teams and now league) and US Soccer/SUM both agreed on a price and Mexican fútbol dio las …Panama, Canadá, CR etcétera all have upped their game or at least found a way to level it out thanks to US Soccer and it’s bargaining with Mexican fútbol. As sick as it sounds it is the way it is.

a crackpot idea, but just throwing it out there. With all the money that the federation earns with the partidos moleros, would the federation be able to acquire our players on loan?

Say like January 2026 transfer window we negotiate the loan of all of our potential WC players and they participate in the Liga MX for that tournament. This way by the time the WC comes around our team would be playing more like a club team than bunch of stars mashed together over the a small period of time. Added benefit would be to get our players (especially the European based ones). reacclimated with the environment in Mexico City. Probably would never happen but would be nice, I think...

I heard this on espn deportes don't remember what show. It goes like this "pay the league/teams to develop players" I have no idea what that means but sounds interesting.

They could do something similar to the 20/11 rule but rewarding with money the teams who play more youth players

If that happened, this theoretical team’s competition would be limited to the MLS. Whether we like it or not and thanks to the FMF, US Soccer/MLS is a CONCACAF reference point right. We all know how that would end up.

    - Canada who relies on MLS, 0 points in this WC.

    - CR eats 0-7 at the WC miraculously wins against Japan for 3 points, (although not as many MLS players this squad)

    - Mexico hires a MLS “champion” coach (a facking waste of money) and has their worst WC in 44 years, HH in MLS and is horrible in this WC etc etc…

These results are not an overnight thing, it’s a direct result of what Mexican fútbol owners put in to Mexican fútbol. In the last 10-15 years, we’ve gone from 2 Copa America finals, 3 libertadores finals, 3 libertadores semifinales, 1 Sudamericana championship to a ton of moleros, losing that Concacaf Championship streak to eliminated in the group stage.

This MLS/SUM fusión doesn’t help Mexican fútbol on the pitch at all: it only lines the FMF and Mexican club owners pockets.

If it’s true that Yon de Luisa got renewed for another cycle despite repetitive fracasos in every NT category, it’s clear they don’t care about what the everyday fan thinks. Prepare for another 4 years of failure.

“We started around 10 years ago to make a big effort investing in training camps. The fidelity strategy works in two ways. It provides coaching and the opportunity to play for clubs. The other aspect is to have teachers who help the young players prepare for life outside of football. This is important for the parents.

The most important thing is to be patient. If you are making good progress with home players, the supporters will understand if it is not a good year because next year they will have, say, three home-grown players. In six years, it might be 11 home-grown players. This is the future because they share your philosophy.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/f...for-10-year-investment-in-youth-football.html

We need something similar to what Spain did with their program.

For how much longer are you going to continue with this bullshit narrative of moleros being a key reason for the lack of growth of Mexican football? As if players will suddenly become stars because of international breaks...Ha....please...The top Mexican players are playing in overall superior football leagues than ever before this last 20 years so your point makes absolutely no sense since the Copa libertadores and the Liga MX are an inferior competition/league to that of the Champions League and the top 6 leagues in Europe...

Thinks what? That the Libertadores is inferior to the Champions league? That the Liga MX would get torched in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundes, Seri A???

    What is the disagreement?
